Equans is looking for an Installer to join our team in a Mobile capacity cover various retailer sites across South England, ideally based Southampton on a 16 Month Fixed Term contract. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £28,000 per annum and you will receive an excellent benefits package.

 


What will you deliver? 

  • The role involves the Installation and deinstallation of National Lottery equipment across the UK and Ireland at Circa 44,000 retailers.
  • Ensure the project is delivered on time within the stipulated scope and budget
  • Communicate regularly with the dedicated planners.
  • Ensure that when unloading old kit, you store it safely & correctly for the driver to collect.
  • Ensure safe manual handling is adhered to.
  • Excellent service delivery is needed at all Retailers.
  • Ensure that all retailers areas are left in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Keep your vehicle in a safe driving condition.
  • Ensure that any issues/ faults or defects are swiftly reported.
  • Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To always include the wearing of uniform and PPE.
  • Undertake mandatory training and skill related training as required by the business.
  • Develop a good working relationship with all members of EQUANS Staff, Sub-Contractors, and the Client representatives.
  • Ensure the professional image of EQUANS is always presented to Clients.
  • There will be a requirement to work out of hours to fulfil our maintenance commitments of our customers.
  • Any other task as directed by the contract manager.

Dayshift Electrician

Equans is looking for a Dayshift Electrician to join our team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitve salary and in addition you will receive an excellent benefits package. 

What will you deliver?

  • Working directly to the Electrical Supervisor, the post holder will have the required skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of mechanical, electrical engineering services and building plant as part of a flexible maintenance team, including specialist subcontractors to deliver work to the highest of standards for our clients.
  • The main responsibilities include efficiently and effectively performing electrical maintenance of all relevant assets. Work will be assigned from a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule or in response to a reactive work order raised by our client representatives or our own personnel on site. All planned and reactive tasks will be managed through to completion, including fault diagnosis and sourcing parts where applicable. Must be able to demonstrate that awareness of best working practices and that these are always followed. Additional duties to include, working and managing backlog works, assisting when required for specialist projects.
  • Working as part of a wider M&E team, there may be a requirement to undertake other tasks that may not be specifically related to electrical systems.

Who are we looking for?

  • Must have successfully completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship and have a proven experience in a similar role carrying out electrical maintenance duties.
  • Hospital maintenance experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Be competent to undertake/assist work on the type of building service systems and equipment for which the appointment is sought.
  • Be familiar with the type of systems and equipment on which work is required to be undertaken.
  • Possess technical knowledge and sufficient experience to avoid any danger that may be presented by the work to be undertaken.
  • Have an adequate knowledge of and within the preceding three years have received training in first aid (including CPR Training). If not held, training will be given.
  • Desirable but not essential to have some knowledge of all the relevant Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) and to work within Permit to Work procedures as appropriate SHTM 06 - 01, BSRIA, L8, pressure systems Regulations 2000, etc).
  • Must be able to obtain a Disclosure Scotland at a Basic Level

Maintenance Technician - Multi Skilled Electrician

EQUANS is looking for a Maintenance Technician (Multi-Skilled Electrical) to join our team in Blackburn on a permanent basis for our Blackburn and Lancashire Schools contract. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.  

General Overview:  
• Carry out building maintenance as required as a multiskilled Technician.
• Provide technical solutions for PPM work and fault rectification.
• Undertake fault finding and diagnosis, problem solve and communicate technical knowledge to others.
• Be fully conversant and provide detailed knowledge of plant status, building conditions, and services availability.
• Assist with energy Management across the project.
• Act as Authorised Person in relation to multiple specific maintenance responsibilities, e.g.  Low Voltage AP.
• React to technical issues and support the team when required.
• To maintain planned and reactive schedules.
• View BMS PC Information where necessary. 
• Build and maintain effective relationships with existing customers/client.
• Provide out of hours cover in accordance with rota.
• Responsible for ordering of specialist materials in line with company / office policy.
• Any other duties reasonably requested by the management team.

Impact:   
The role is part of a maintenance team delivering a service to 11 Schools across Lancashire and Blackburn. The position is central to the delivery of Technical FM services in line with the FM Contract.

Complexity: 
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on building fabric in accordance with the PPM programme.
• Respond in a timely manner to breakdown requests.
• Carry out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works.
• Safely operate all types of hand and power tools in accordance with health & safety and manufacturers' guidelines.
• Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to health & safety and infection control procedures. 
• Maintain records as appropriate.
• Undertake a willingness to assist and work flexibly with other trades.
• Ensure that there is minimum disruption to the schools whilst carrying out work.
• Respond in a safe manner to the effects of bad weather, eg. snow clearing, gritting, flooding, high winds, etc.
• Undertake training where necessary to maintain and develop the requirements of the service.
• Collaborate and co-operate with partners and colleagues to deliver a customer focussed service.
• Participate in Standby Operatives’ on-call rota.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
• Relevant Electrical Qualifications. 18th Edition. City & Guilds 2391 Inspect & testing.
• Previously worked in a FM maintenance environment (ideally education environment).
• Worked on Fire door maintenance.
• Participation in a on call rota.
• Enhanced DBS clearance essential.
• Have a proven track record of practical maintenance skills and fault finding.
• Have a good understanding of services within a building such as boilers/ pressure systems, heating, lighting and Power.
• Have sound knowledge of Health and Safety.
• Have the ability to follow site and company policies and procedures .
• Be flexible to out of hours overtime.
• Experience in working in school/PFI environment.
• Full UK driving license.
• Vehicle provided.

Delivery Supervisor

Equans is looking for a Contract Delivery Supervisor to join our team within Repairs & Maintenance in Kings Road, Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full time role overseeing the Repairs and Maintenance contract we service for Birmingham City Council. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Assist the Responsive Repairs Manager in the delivery of a high performing, effective and efficient Responsive Repairs and Maintenance Service including the monitoring of a team of Trade Operatives and Sub-Contractors
  • Responsible for the supervision of a team of trade operatives and sub-contractors delivering a wide range of responsive and reactive maintenance jobs/projects

Electrician

Equans is recruiting for an Electrician to be based on site at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh. This is a permanent full-time role working 42 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.
 
Please note this is a shift role - working 4 on 4 off between the hours of 9am - 9pm

What will you deliver?

  • Possess an advanced understanding of policies and procedures relative to the role, ensuring compliance with these standards and maintaining high-quality outputs and standards.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Health and Safety at Work (HASAW) requirements and duties. Ability to risk assess work processes, develop method statements, and train employees to adhere to HASAW requirements.
  • Implement principles of industrial and commercial system installations and protection measures. Utilize resources effectively and demonstrate effective planning, organizing, and prioritizing skills.
  • Undertake personal training and development activities, stay updated on industry advancements and practices, and support the learning and development of others by providing guidance and support.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks, ensure proper completion and accurate documentation of work performed, and communicate any obstacles to work delivery in a timely manner.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, adapt communication methods to the needs of the target audience, and actively listen to others before reaching a view.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in decision-making, seek input from others, and escalate work issues when necessary.
  • Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Planned Maintenance (RPM) tasks assigned through Maximo or other designated systems. Sign off completed work and report any issues to the shift lead for rectification.
  • Learn from experience, make suggestions to improve personal work processes, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Anticipate and adapt flexibly to changing environments, support the team in coping with pressure and change, and embrace challenges as opportunities for learning and improvement.
  • Think laterally, propose innovative solutions to problems, seek input from others, and plan and prioritize team and project workload effectively to meet deadlines.

Who are we looking for?

  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as an Electrician or similar role in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SHTM (Scottish Healthcare Technical Memorandum), PPMs (Planned Preventative Maintenance), and SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Excellent understanding of Engineering Building Services installation and maintenance techniques.
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.  
  • The role requires the successful post holder to obtain a PVG Disclosure prior to starting.

Maintenance Assistant - Water Flusher

Equans is looking for a Maintenance Assistant – Water Flusher to join our team at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People in Edinburgh on a 6 month Fixed Term contract. This is a full-time role working approx 42 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and in addition you will receive an excellent benefits package. 

 

Working hours are 7am – 7pm on a 4 on 4 off basis.


What will you deliver?

  • Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor
  • To deliver routine maintenance predominantly water flushing and general duties as allocated by management 
  • Carry out routine maintenance, repair, and cleaning activity across the site, this will also include Grounds and Gardens work and manual labouring tasks.
  • Carry out PAT testing following training completion
  • Carry out general duties including relocations and moves, tidying and cleaning Estates areas and Plant rooms
  • To cover for other team members when needed
  • Working on an as required basis

Who are we looking for?

  • Must have previous building services maintenance experience
  • Good understanding of installation and maintenance techniques with excellent working knowledge of carpentry and plumbing.
  • Ability to manage workload and plan day effectively
  • Desirable to have previous experience in a healthcare environment
  • A team player with strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • IT literate, and ambition for personal development
  • Valid driving licence essential for driving company vehicles
  • Able to work on own initiative with a proactive, flexible, can-do attitude.
