EQUANS are recruiting for a Joiner to be based in Oldham. This is a permanent full-time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary of £33,551 plus van & fuel card and benefits package.

General Overview

To carry out the duties as an Joiner in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Company policies and Procedures.  To assist the Team in producing a quality product meeting the requirements of the contract and in a safe manner.  Adhere to all requirements set by SHEQ team, policy, and strategy.

Be part of an on-call Rota to cover Out of Hours breakdowns as required.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out various Joinery tasks to a high standard as instructed by the company including:
    • Replacement and rehanging internal / external doors
    • Repair / Replace locking mechanisms.
    • Repair / Replace kitchen units and worktops.
    • Repair / Replace floors and carcasing.
    • Repair / Replace UPVC / Aluminum windows and doors.
    • Skirtings architraves and capping
    • Studding and staircases
    • Roof timbers
  • Assist with the adherence to the Company quality standards including:
    • Compliance with specification
    • Compliance with materials / workmanship schedules
  • High quality Customer Care must always act in a polite and professional manor.
  • Maintain and care for all company tools.
  • 1st time fix to be achieved wherever possible.
  • To use appropriate safety equipment
  • To wear appropriate clothing / uniform
  • To ensure areas of work are left clean and tidy at the end of the day.
  • To be responsible for and take due care of the company van in accordance with the company car policy.
  • To be responsible for holding keys for communal entrances, meter cupboards and allow access where appropriate.
  • Liaison with the client, consultants, contract administrator, head office etc.
  • Material co-ordination
  • Ensure accurate / timely completion of any relevant documentation required on the contract.
  • Any other reasonable management request

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our facilities team working on our Metropolitan Police South East London FM contract based at Lewisham police station and covering Bromley and Sutton police stations, as required.  This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 0800 to 1700.

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the M&E Supervisor
  • To provide the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of M&E plant and equipment across MET Police South East London sites 
  • To carry out the installation of new M&E equipment as required i.e. minor new works, refurbishment and capital works replacement programme
  • Investigate, trouble shoot and rectify defects for all M&E systems and associated plant / components 
  • Oversee/escort any specialist contractor works as required
  • Proactive identification of defects and faults outside of specialisation and escalate accordingly
  • Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all associated paperwork 
  • Working 40 hours per week from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with participation in the on call rota and out of normal working hours activity.

Skills & qualifications:

  • Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience
  • Must be able to undertake unsupervised non-routine maintenance and complex repair/installation work
  • Good communication skills and customer focused with a proactive, flexible, can-do approach
  • Must be able to produce technical/incident reports
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
  • Successful applicants will be subject to Metropolitan Police security vetting
  • Driving License essential

Shift Maintenance Electrician

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Maintenance Electrician to join our maintenance team working at a prestigious central government building in Westminster. This is a permanent shift-based role working 38.5 hours per week on a rolling rota of 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off - DAY SHIFTS ONLY from 07:00 to 19:00. 

The role:

  • Reporting to the M&E Shift Supervisor
  • To maintain all buildings and plant to the required levels as set out by management
  • Carry out a range of building service tasks, mainly electrical and mechanical planned and reactive works
  • To ensure prompt and accurate completion of associated paperwork, recording recommendations and/or material requirements accordingly
  • To make recommendations of replacement parts and materials to ensure the highest levels of equipment and building availability.
  • To oversee specialist sub-contractors
  • To work to the highest standard and in full compliance with statutory legislation
  • To cover for other technicians as necessary in various buildings, including participation in a call out work rota
  • Working 38.5 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern of days only – 07:00 to 19:00


The person:

  • Must hold a recognised Electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant Electrical discipline with suitable industry experience; mechanical qualification/experience is a bonus
  • C&G 2391 Testing & Inspection and BS7671 qualifications (or equivalent) are desirable
  • Must be appointed in at least 1 AP/CP role, and attend any training as necessary to maintain this
  • Desirable to have experience of building services/maintenance/facilities management 
  • Will be able to demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team with a proactive, flexible, can-do attitude
  • Employment in this post is dependent upon obtaining security clearance; this requires 5 years’ residency in the UK and a current British or EU passport.

Maintenance Electrician

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Electrician to join our maintenance team working at two University of Cambridge research and teaching facilities in Cambridge city centre working 40 hours per week from 07:30 to 16:00. Monday to Friday.  This is a foot mobile role across the two buildings on the site. 

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the M&E Supervisor
  • To provide the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of electrical services plant and equipment
  • To carry out the installation of new electrical equipment as required i.e. minor new works, refurbishment and capital works replacement programme
  • Investigate, trouble shoot and rectify defects for all electrical systems and associated plant/components or if unable to do so, arrange specialist external staff or subcontractors
  • Experienced in all types of design and installation techniques with the ability to appraise problems and the capability to rectify them.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all associated paperwork
  • To participate in the Appointed Persons role for an identified discipline
  • Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 16:00

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Must hold a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical discipline with suitable industry experience

Mechanical Building Services Shift Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Building Services Shift Engineer to join our maintenance team at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. This is a permanent full-time role working an average of 40 hours per week on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern of days & nights.

 

The role:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager / M&E Supervisor
  • To deliver mechanical planned and reactive maintenance and scheduled installation works
  • To provide technical engineering support for the Hard FM Services department and carry out preventative maintenance to deadline plus maintain paperwork to support PPM activities
  • To respond to reactive and emergency faults and conduct reactive maintenance work to ensure compliance with KPI’s
  • To oversee specialist sub-contractors, and manage contractors as necessary, working to a safe system of work and permit-to-work system
  • To undertake AP/RP duties for the disciplines for which you have been appointed
  • To cover for other technicians as necessary
  • To participate in the on-call rota, and carry out overtime as required
  • Working an average of 40 hours per week on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern of days and nights.

The person:

  • Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
  • Must have extensive experience of building services in a maintenance role and knowledge of air handling plant and water hygiene is required
  • Experience in a Healthcare environment is advantageous with knowledge of medical gases
  • Must be willing to attain cross skilling.  
  • Ability to read technical drawings and diagnose technical faults
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal; IT literate
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team with a proactive, flexible, can-do attitude.
  • Must have a good understanding of health and safety best practise; formal training an advantage.

M&E Supervisor - Water

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Supervisor to look after the Water & Contractors side to join our Facilities Management team at North Middlesex University Hospital in Edmonton. This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, Mon to Fri.

The role:

  • Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager
  • To supervise the water management and specialist contractors and internal fabric team
  • To undertake complete management of all PPM’s
  • Use of the Maximo CAFM system.
  • To plan work for trade staff/contract labour.  Supervise trade staff/contract/labour/contractors to ensure work is completed to a defined standard, within agreed time and budget.  
  • Assist Site Management in issuing POs for reactive, remedial, and Life Cycle works and co-ordinating works with Sub-Contractors.
  • Required to undertake training and qualify as AP and/or CP if required.
  • Order materials and services as required within agreed delegation level and certify satisfactory delivery/completion
  • Requirement to work with tools as necessary
  • Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with participation in the call-out rota system to assist the Company in responding to emergency situations.

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Must hold a recognised Electrical or Mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant Electrical or Mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of all water HTM’s whereby you will be appointed as the site's water RP - Legionella L8 qualification essential
  • Will have significant experience in a building services environment
  • Will be a team player ideally with prior supervisory / management experience
  • Will be client-focused with a delivery oriented and ‘can-do’ approach to work
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and application of the various trade groups to be managed i.e. building works, mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Able to obtain DBS clearance
