We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Stores person to join our facilities team at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth.  This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8am-5pm. 

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Estates stores, involving the requisitioning of materials, stock control, goods receiving and dealing with invoice and delivery queries.
  • Ensure correct receipt, quantity control, storage and security of stock and non-stock items
  • Ensure best value for money obtaining competitive quotes
  • Ensure all stock is recorded in the CAFM system (Maximo)
  • Ensure Purchase orders are receipted correctly and sent to finance on time.
  • Management of the supplier library and maintain contact with suppliers
  • To manage the distribution of stock to staff
  • Discuss with suppliers / manufacturers recommended spares lists for plant and equipment.
  • Carry out some minor PPM activities e.g. ladder inspections (mobile and fixed)
  • Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00

Maintenance Electrician

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Electrician to join our maintenance team working at two University of Cambridge research and teaching facilities in Cambridge city centre working 40 hours per week from 07:30 to 16:00. Monday to Friday.  This is a foot mobile role across the two buildings on the site. 

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the M&E Supervisor
  • To provide the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of electrical services plant and equipment
  • To carry out the installation of new electrical equipment as required i.e. minor new works, refurbishment and capital works replacement programme
  • Investigate, trouble shoot and rectify defects for all electrical systems and associated plant/components or if unable to do so, arrange specialist external staff or subcontractors
  • Experienced in all types of design and installation techniques with the ability to appraise problems and the capability to rectify them.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all associated paperwork
  • To participate in the Appointed Persons role for an identified discipline
  • Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 16:00

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Must hold a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical discipline with suitable industry experience

Fabric Engineer

Equans is recruiting for a Fabric Engineer to be based at the Queen Alexandria Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £28,000 to £30,000 per annum depending on experience. In addition you will receive an excellent benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Support the Estates Management team in delivering 24-hour maintenance services.
  • Promote a culture of excellent customer service, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to address maintenance issues effectively.
  • Diagnose faults, repair, and maintain complex and specialised hospital equipment after suitable training.
  • Undertake a variety of building tasks, including carpentry, painting, fitting ironmongery, and flooring.
  • Actively participate in the Fabric Team on-call rota to ensure timely response to maintenance needs.
  • Work in challenging environments, including unblocking drains and sewers, which may involve exposure to biological hazards and noxious fumes.
  • Liaise with the Stores Team for requisition, supply, and security of materials.
  • Monitor and check the work of contractors to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Observe all relevant statutory requirements, particularly relating to the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH regulations, and Electrical IEE regulations.
  • Carry out work across multiple trades where necessary and within the scope of competence.
  • Carry a radio or pager to facilitate immediate response to urgent tasks.

Job Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fabric Engineer to provide essential mechanical support in maintaining three secondary schools within Peterborough. As part of our Operations team, you will play a key role in ensuring the upkeep and functionality of the building fabric, supporting the safe and efficient running of these facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled, planned, and reactive maintenance tasks on building fabrics, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors (including fire doors), and windows.
  • Carry out repairs to structural elements such as fixing cracks, leaks, and damaged surfaces.
  • Provide painting, plastering, and decorating services to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the buildings.
  • Undertake occasional installation and project works.
  • Maintain up-to-date trade knowledge and qualifications to ensure safe and efficient performance of duties.
  • Provide quotations for small works as required.
  • Use the Maximo CAFM system to manage workload effectively.
  • Ensure the prompt and accurate completion of associated paperwork.
  • Advise on parts and labour requirements for additional works, interfacing with suppliers and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Oversee external contractors and escort them when required.
  • Participate in the on-call rota as part of a team.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety policies, ensuring compliance with all company policies, management plans, and procedures.

Core Skill Requirements:

Essential:

  • Understanding of maintenance requirements for building services and assets in a multi-site environment.
  • Knowledge of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Enhanced DBS Certification required.

Desirable:

  • Formal qualifications up to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (carpentry or fabric-related trade).
  • Previous experience working on PFI contracts, preferably within an educational environment.
  • Understanding of Asset Maintenance and Lifecycle Works.
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • Health & Safety / COSHH awareness.

Mechanical Building Services Shift Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Building Services Shift Engineer to join our maintenance team at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. This is a permanent full-time role working an average of 40 hours per week on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern of days & nights 0700-1900 / 1900-0700.

 

The role:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager / M&E Supervisor
  • To deliver mechanical planned and reactive maintenance and scheduled installation works
  • To provide technical engineering support for the Hard FM Services department and carry out preventative maintenance to deadline plus maintain paperwork to support PPM activities
  • To respond to reactive and emergency faults and conduct reactive maintenance work to ensure compliance with KPI’s
  • To oversee specialist sub-contractors, and manage contractors as necessary, working to a safe system of work and permit-to-work system
  • To undertake AP/RP duties for the disciplines for which you have been appointed
  • To cover for other technicians as necessary
  • To participate in the on-call rota, and carry out overtime as required
  • Working an average of 40 hours per week on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern of days and nights.

The person:

  • Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
  • Must have extensive experience of building services in a maintenance role and knowledge of air handling plant and water hygiene is required
  • Experience in a Healthcare environment is advantageous with knowledge of medical gases
  • Must be willing to attain cross skilling.  
  • Ability to read technical drawings and diagnose technical faults
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal; IT literate
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team with a proactive, flexible, can-do attitude.
  • Must have a good understanding of health and safety best practise; formal training an advantage.

Electrician

Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team in Leeds on a permanent basis. This is a full time role to carry out repairs and maintenance work to social housing, achieving high standards of customer care and satisfaction. General Overview

The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within residential and commercial properties. This role is to ensure that all electrical work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations and British standards and company & client processes. The Electrician is also responsible for diagnosing faults and performing necessary repairs, maintaining electrical equipment to ensure optimal functionality, they will also be required to carry out electrical installation condition reports.

Who are we looking for?

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.

  • Or qualifications that predate the above, however, you must be able to obtain an ECS gold card with the qualifications you hold.

Electrician

EQUANS are recruiting for an Electrician to be based in Belfast. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle and fuel card and benefits package.

General Overview:

A person with a proven track record of Electrical installations, repair and maintenance work. Further specifications below.

  • Understand the aims and objectives of EQUANS and your service area, together with your role in service delivery.
  • Ensure that the services provided are to the highest quality/standard with due recognition of client and customer requirements and ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with EQUANS customer care values and Equal Opportunities Policies.
  • Planning and prioritising work within recognised safe systems and in accordance with all aspects of health and safety legislation at all times.
  • Participate in a team working approach to the allocation of duties, supporting and working effectively with colleagues to provide good working relationships within the service.
  • Undertake any training as identified through the performance review process continually seeking improvement and developing best practice.
  • Adhere to and apply legislation and EQUANS procedures as appropriate.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties (with competence and experience) as requested, in accordance with changing organisational directives.

Impact:

  • To carry out efficient and cost-effective installation/repair and maintenance of domestic, commercial electrical installations, annual servicing, minor works schemes, in the EQUANS Building Portfolio.
  • Ability to interpret design drawings, electrical circuit diagrams, manufacturers specifications and instructions.
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification of sub-standard installations in accordance with current regulations i.e. IEE 18th Edition regulations.
  • Ensure all works conform to the requirements of EQUANS Safe Systems of Work for Low Voltage work, and BS 7671:2018 and complete all appropriate documentation and test certificates.
  • Carry out repair/modification/replacement work within contract scope, as instructed by Supervisors/Management.
  • Completion and timely submission of appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure that standards and quality of work produced is in accordance with best practice and fit for purpose.
  • Be actively involved in the development of apprentice training.
  • Participation in the Call Out Rota.

Dayshift Electrician

Equans is looking for a Dayshift Electrician to join our team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and in addition you will receive an excellent benefits package. 

What will you deliver?

  • Working directly to the Electrical Supervisor, the post holder will have the required skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of mechanical, electrical engineering services and building plant as part of a flexible maintenance team, including specialist subcontractors to deliver work to the highest of standards for our clients.
  • The main responsibilities include efficiently and effectively performing electrical maintenance of all relevant assets. Work will be assigned from a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule or in response to a reactive work order raised by our client representatives or our own personnel on site. All planned and reactive tasks will be managed through to completion, including fault diagnosis and sourcing parts where applicable. Must be able to demonstrate that awareness of best working practices and that these are always followed. Additional duties to include, working and managing backlog works, assisting when required for specialist projects.
  • Working as part of a wider M&E team, there may be a requirement to undertake other tasks that may not be specifically related to electrical systems.

Who are we looking for?

  • Must have successfully completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship and have a proven experience in a similar role carrying out electrical maintenance duties.
  • Hospital maintenance experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Be competent to undertake/assist work on the type of building service systems and equipment for which the appointment is sought.
  • Be familiar with the type of systems and equipment on which work is required to be undertaken.
  • Possess technical knowledge and sufficient experience to avoid any danger that may be presented by the work to be undertaken.
  • Have an adequate knowledge of and within the preceding three years have received training in first aid (including CPR Training). If not held, training will be given.
  • Desirable but not essential to have some knowledge of all the relevant Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) and to work within Permit to Work procedures as appropriate SHTM 06 - 01, BSRIA, L8, pressure systems Regulations 2000, etc).
  • Must be able to obtain a Disclosure Scotland at a Basic Level

Electrician

Equans is recruiting for an Electrician to be based at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £35,000 to £36,500 plus a shift allowance of £3,581 per annum. In addition you will receive an excellent benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Support the estates management in providing a 24 hour maintenance service within the hospital
  • Undertake PPMs, testing and repairs covering a wide range of equipment, services, systems and buildings associated with a large hospital.
  • Assist other trades where required. 
  • Any other duties required by site management
  • Be part of the shift pattern including day shifts, late shifts and 1 weekend in 4.
