Maintenance Assistant
EQUANS is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team in Wakefield on a permanent basis at Pinderfield and Pontefract Hospital. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
Working within the Technical Services team, the post holder will have the required skills to ensure the safe completion of repairs, minor planned installation, and maintenance work on a wide range of equipment, building fixtures and plant to the highest of standards for our clients.
The main responsibilities include efficiently and effectively performing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on lighting, water and heating services and reactive repairs to building fabric e.g. plasterwork, floor coverings, ceramic tiles etc as required.
Beam Cleaners are required to work at hight inspecting and cleaning where required Active beams throughout the buildings.
Working as part of a wider estates team, there may be a requirement to undertake other tasks as required.
Impact:
The objective of the department is to operate and maintain a physical environment in which healthcare can be delivered to the patient. The main elements being the maintenance of both building fabric and services e.g. external and internal finishes, fittings and fixtures, plumbing, electrical and mechanical services, etc.
Compliance with all statutory requirements in relation to safe working practices and safe operation of plant, equipment and services. Keeping records of all activities as per all Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) and Quality Assurance requirements.
Complexity:
•Work with and assist electrical, mechanical, plumbing, joinery trade personnel as directed.
•Work and assist external contractors as required
•Liaise with hospital staff on a daily basis.
•Carry out minor maintenance works and minor repairs to mechanical, electrical, plumbing and joinery equipment. – such as blocked sinks and toilets, lamp replacement and general repairs to fixtures and fittings (ceiling tiles, blinds, cupboards, ironmongery) and minor redecoration.
•Carry out HTM 04-01 Legionella and water hygiene checks.
•Carry out general labouring duties and other works commensurate with the grade, personal abilities and experience.
•Maintain records and complete service reports as appropriate.
•Adhere to H&S policies and comply with Safe Systems of work as operated by Technical Services, together with Statutory Regulations such as Health & Safety, COSHH etc.
•Maintain, adjust and operate associated trades machinery.
•Assist in the maintenance of accurate work and maintenance records.
All employees have a duty to report any accidents, complaints, defects in equipment, near misses and untoward incidents, following EQUANS procedure.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
•Basic education to GCSE/’O’ Level in Maths and English or equivalent.
•Previous experience of general maintenance is beneficial.
•Previous experience in a similar role desirable, although not essential
•C&G Certificate – Inspection and testing of Portable Electrical Appliances is desirable.
•Must have (or be able to obtain) Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance.

Job Title: Fabric Engineer (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Are you an experienced Fabric Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real impact? We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team on the Stoke Schools PFI Contract for a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is your chance to work across 88 sites in Stoke-on-Trent, carrying out essential fabric maintenance and repairs, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planned Maintenance: Carry out planned maintenance on fabric assets in line with contract specifications and industry best practices, including windows, fire doors, ironmongery, roofing, and more.
- Reactive Maintenance: Perform minor repairs, including door/window furniture, joinery, painting & decorating, flooring, and ceiling repairs, adhering to contractual SLAs.
- Minor Works: Undertake installation and minor fabric works in accordance with trade qualifications.
- Health & Safety: Complete risk assessments, follow Safe Systems of Working (SSOW), and always work in a safe manner.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Stoke Schools engineering team, supporting other disciplines and providing lifecycle & defect reports.
- Customer Communication: Proactively liaise with site staff to ensure smooth operations, and provide regular updates to the helpdesk on work order progress.
- On-Call Support: Be part of an on-call rota for emergency repairs on the estate.
What We’re Looking For:
- A formal apprenticeship in a relevant City & Guilds trade (fabric/maintenance).
- Proven experience in building fabric repairs and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and risk assessments.
- A full, clean driving license is essential.
- An IPAF (MEWP) qualification is desirable.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (subject to job offer).

- Qualifications & Experience: Recognised industry qualifications (C&G/NVQ required), with experience in joinery, plumbing, or other related skills.

General Overview:
The Roofer is accountable for carrying out roofing installations, repairs, and maintenance on properties managed by the company. They are responsible for ensuring the integrity and functionality of roofing systems while upholding high standards of safety and customer satisfaction.

Your Role:
As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll be responsible for performing first-line maintenance in line with planned schedules, ensuring that all equipment remains operational and ready for deployment in the event of an emergency. You will be involved in fault diagnosis, equipment configuration, and post-deployment assessments, as well as troubleshooting and repairing any identified issues. Additionally, you will assist with training activities and the movement of equipment for non-emergency activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out maintenance tasks to meet service level agreements and key performance indicators.
- Responding to emergency call-outs and attending off-site locations for emergency deployments.
- Diagnosing faults, investigating equipment damage, and ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Supporting training initiatives and ensuring equipment is properly maintained and deployed.
- Ensuring compliance with EQUANS' Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, including risk assessments and toolbox talks.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone with a strong mechanical and/or electrical background, who thrives in a fast-paced and critical environment. If you have experience working with plant machinery, diesel engines, or similar systems, and possess problem-solving skills under pressure, we want to hear from you.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Yellow Activities: Credible experience with plant and diesel engines, with mechanical and/or electrical understanding.
- Red Activities: NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds qualification in mechanical engineering or related fields. Time-served apprenticeships and higher qualifications are advantageous.
- 18th Edition: If required, the post holder must have an 18th Edition qualification or the ability to be appointed as an Authorised Person.
- Experience in operating machinery such as JCBs, or holding a C+E (LGV) license is desirable.
- Ability to drive a 16-tonne FLT (Forklift Truck) is beneficial.

EQUANS are recruiting for a Joiner to be based in Belfast. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £28,620 plus van and fuel card and benefits package.
General Overview
- To undertake the duties/responsibilities as a Joiner to the standards set out by the contract.
- To carry out the duties as a Joiner in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Company policies and Procedures.
- To assist the Foreman in producing a quality product within the contract period. Understand, implement and adhere to EQUANS SHEQ requirements.
- To ensure you complete the full sequence of events on PDA and the completion of jobs for invoicing.
- Efficient use of the Impact system.
- To adhere to the Client contract KPI’s and, target dates and timeframes.
- OOH and Standby participation is essential
Key Accountabilities
- Provide a high-quality service to NIHE tenants, specifically within domestic properties that are either occupied or void.
- To undertake all elements of 1st and 2nd fix Joinery, and where required undertake roof work.
- Undertake where required other multiskilled duties.
- To attend all relevant training courses, including all health and safety
- To work in accordance with any training and instructions given and bring to the attention of the employer any shortcomings and defects in the management systems and protective measures
- To use protective equipment, substances and tools/equipment in accordance with instructions and training given
- Assist with the adherence to the Company quality standards including:
- Compliance with specification and SOR codes
- Adherence to the sequence of events for each job on the PDA.
- Ensure van stock is processed and managed accordingly
- Ensure that your work is carried out the highest quality and within a reasonable amount of time.
- Ensure any additional work is captured and communicated to the relevant person, so that the company can invoice for additional work completed.
- Compliant in timeframes allocated of jobs, ensure target dates are met,
- Compliance with materials / workmanship schedules
- Maintain and care for all company tools
- To use appropriate safety equipment
- To wear appropriate clothing / uniform
- To ensure areas of work are left clean, tidy and safe at all times
- To be responsible for and take due care of the company van in accordance with the company car policy
- Liaison with the client, consultants, contract administrator, head office etc
- Be responsible for your own safety and all other around you
- Make every effort to attend mandatory courses relevant to your role
- Material co-ordination and organisation
- Ensure accurate / timely completion of any relevant site based documentation
- To oversee/assist in the training of apprentices as required
- Any other reasonable management request
- Within your salary includes payment for small hand tools essential for carrying out the duties of a Joiner, please ensure these are fit for purpose and in line with H&S requirements.

Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to join our team providing FM maintenance at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth. This is a full-time permanent role working 40 hours per week from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
The role:
- Will report to the Operations Manager
- To supervise the mechanical/electrical/building trade staff and specialist contractors
- Ensure the immediate and proper allocation of work, and the completion of such work in accordance with the performance monitoring system and to client satisfaction.
- Use of the Maximo CAFM system.
- Order materials and services as required within agreed delegation level and certify satisfactory delivery/completion.
- Monitor trade staff performance, time-keeping and sickness in accordance with Company Policy.
- Provide estimates for quoted works, site measurements, cost control information and maintain necessary records for effective administration as directed.
- Required to undertake training and qualify as Authorised Person and/or Competent Person if required.
- Requirement to work with tools as necessary day to day, during emergencies and supporting staff
- Working 40 hours per week from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. You will be required to participate in a call-out rota system to assist the company in responding to emergency situations.
The person:
- Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience; electrical trade qualifications are desirable
- Will have significant experience in a building services environment with comprehensive mechanical and electrical knowledge ideally within a hospital environment
- Will be a team player ideally with supervisory / management experience
- Will be client-focused with a delivery oriented and ‘can-do’ approach to work
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and application of the various trade groups to be managed i.e. building works, mechanical and electrical engineering
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Able to obtain DBS clearance

Senior Maintenance Electrician

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Maintenance Electrician to join our team providing Building Services maintenance at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, from 07:00 to 15:30, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute unpaid break.
The role:
- Reporting to the Operations Manager / Head of Estates
- Supervise, lead and motivate all staff within your responsibility to ensure allocated and reactive work is completed to a defined standard, within the agreed time and budget.
- Carry out maintenance/repair of mechanical/electrical services to plant and equipment across the site and also refurbishments and new works
- Supervise sub-contractors for all mechanical / electrical / building work, ensuring work is carried out and completed in compliance with contract specification and to client satisfaction
- Carry out maintenance/repair/refurbishments/new works to plant and equipment across site
- Plan, prioritise and delegate work in accordance with response and rectification times set out in the contract for all trade staff and contract labour ensuring that all associated paperwork is completed within the required timescales
- Working 40 hours per week, from 07:00 to 15:30, Monday to Friday with participation in the on-call rota
The person:
- Must hold a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical discipline with suitable industry experience
- Must be appointed in at least 2 electrical AP roles, and attend any training as necessary to maintain these
- Excellent knowledge of building maintenance including HVAC systems, gas appliances, piped medical gas systems, steam plant/equipment and all other equipment in plant rooms, patient areas, and other departments.
- Experience in managing and maintaining safe system of works (SSoW)
- Team player and able to motivate and manage staff, including specialist sub-contractors
- Able to communicate well with the client, as well as with peers, team and senior management.

EQUANS is recruiting for a Joiner to join our team in Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, EH16 4SA. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary per annum and benefits package.

Monday - Friday 8am until 4pm
What will you deliver?
The post holder will have the required maintenance skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the internal and external fabric. Working within the fabric team and reporting to the fabric supervisor and fabric manager. Operate and maintain a physical environment in which healthcare can be delivered to the patient. The main elements being the maintenance of both, building fabric and services e.g. external and internal finishes, fittings and fixtures. The provision of a project management service to Consort Healthcare from initial brief and preparation of contract documentation through tendering, contract supervision to completion. Works ranging from minor alterations to major refurbishments.
