What will you deliver?
- To undertake work in a safe and effective manner complying with all relevant safety legislation and procedures and complying with the Estates Department Health & Safety Procedures manual on all works undertaken
- To undertake a multi-skilled approach to a wide range of unsupervised routine and non-routine maintenance and minor repair work

Fire Risk Assessment Work Compliance Supervisor
EQUANS are recruiting for a Fire Risk Assessment Work Compliance Supervisor to be based in Manchester. This is a permanent full-time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
Working closely with the H&S and Snr management team to oversee onsite compliance and quality requirements in relation to all works conducted involving FRA works across all workstreams on the contract, to ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently, to a high-quality standard, with exceptional customer care. Acting as a role model for your teams and instilling the Equans culture to all colleagues.
Key Accountabilities
To take ownership and manage the various tasks carried out operatives / supply chain ensuring they are carried out to a high standard, including but not limited to:
- Ensure that EQUANS all safety policy and procedures are followed by you and your team, ensuring all works are carried out in a safe compliant manor across all disciplines required on the contract by both the in house and supply chain.
- Monitor and Report on the Business FRA Compliance
- Carry out regular MSV visits and record on Aims.
- Auditing Sub Contractors and operatives in respects to quality and compliance to Statutory Regulations and company procedures and record on AIMS.
- Auditing Sub Contractors and operatives in respects to adherence to Manufactures Instructions, Installation methods, safe systems of work and certification regardless of product and record on AIMS.
- Audit Live Sites to ensure compliance of Statutory Regulations and company standards and record on AIMS.
- Preparation and Assistance in setting up systems to manage site compliance to requirements.
- Ensure Non-Conformances are identified, reported and Corrective Actions implemented, monitored and trends identified and record on AIMS.
- Ensure that all necessary documents are being completed on sites (as per company standards) and record on AIMS.
- Conduct Desktop Audits on generated Certification and procedural generated paperwork and record on AIMS
- Verify Site paperwork is in place and correct in relation to the appropriate works in relation to M&E
- Record all accidents, near misses, Safety observations and HIPO’s on AIMS
- Carry out toolbox talks on a regular basis and record attendees.
- Carry out investigations, prepare investigation reports in line with the disciplinary policy.
- Ensure your teams have the correct tools, equipment, and materials to carry out their work including imprest kit management in vehicles.
- Ensure your team carry out all mandatory training and support any ongoing training for team members including apprentices.

Equans is looking for an Assistant Technical Services Manager (Fabric) to join our team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £40,000-£45,000, dependent upon skills and experience, and benefits package.
The role is to assist the Technical Services Manager (TSM) in the provision and deliver of a high-quality maintenance service. The role will also include assisting in the operation, repair and maintenance of building fabric and engineering services while working within a multi-disciplinary hard service team environment. Due to the wide range of services and systems installed within the building the role requires a wide range of skills and flexible nature but also provides the opportunity to work in a very rewarding environment with continued opportunity for learning and development.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager (Fabric), the post holder will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the maintenance services in accordance with the requirements of the Maintenance services Agreement with Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.
Responsible for the effective management of trade staff ensuring all maintenance activities comply with the statutory, NHS, Trust, and Company guidelines.
The post holder will also collaborate and co-operate with the Trust to deliver customer focused, cost effective and efficient maintenance service.
Whilst the role will be based at the MMUH Equans are also responsible for the maintenance of other sites within the Trust’s estate and it is possible that the post holder will be required to work at other sites and may be requested to vary hours to cover shifts patterns where needed to cover annual leave and sickness.
What will you deliver?
- Support the TSM in ensuring Building Tasks are closed out in timely manner, assisting with the other trades (Mechanical & Electrical) when the need arises
- Assist the Management and co-ordination of directly employed labour and sub-contractors in reacting to breakdowns and implementing the Planned Preventative Maintenance Systems
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines
- Assist in the review and development of the quality of service at an operational level and Control expenditure as delegated by the Technical Services Manager
- Ensure all staff are trained and aware of health and safety responsibilities in accordance with statutory, NHS and Trust guidelines and the companies Incident and Behavioural Safety Initiatives
- Positively manage relationships with stakeholders and Trust representatives to enhance perception of service provision
- Maintain records as appropriate, relevant plant and equipment for technical performance
- Ensure Planning and scheduling all planned preventative maintenance activities for the building team is completed using the Maximo system
- Consideration to statute, Regulations, ACOP’s and Guidance (HTM’s).
- Give additional support with financial controls with reference to departmental budgetary control, stock, contracts etc
- Ensuring that all staff and subcontractors’ response and rectification times are met, and repairs are undertaken diligently, with due care and without undue delay
- Responsible for the safety of plant, equipment, and infrastructure and for safe working practices
- Contribute to ensure that plant and equipment data and information is delivered in an accurate and timely manner
- Responsible for bringing to the attention of all Senior Management any unsafe working conditions, working practices, unsafe plant or equipment encountered during the execution of duties including reporting on the company AIMS system
- Responsible for the execution of any other estates and facilities related duties in an emergency/urgent situation, as directed by the Senior Management Team

- Actively manage and monitor appropriate completion of all PPM activities in conjunction with the Assistant Technical Services Managers for fabric and grounds and gardens items using the Maximo system, with consideration to statute, Regulations, ACOP’s and Guidance (HTM’s)
- Undertake negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to provide a cost-effective service with reference to the contract SLA’s
- Responsible for budgetary control of allocated budgets and give additional assistance with financial controls across other areas of the contract with reference to departmental budget, stock, contracts etc

EQUANS is looking for a Project Co-ordinator to join our team in Blackburn Hospital, BB2 3HH on a permanent basis. This is a full time office based role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary banding dependent upon skills and experience, bonus and benefits package.
The role holder will carry out general administrative duties as required by the Management Team on site. What will you deliver?
- Lifecycle and Variations Project Management, ensuring all Projects are managed, operated and completed with uncompromised efficiency, on time and to budget.

- Liaison and management of the performance of preferred suppliers/subcontractors to include controlling, scheduling and coordinating sub-contractors working on site, ensuring all Company and on-site procedures are followed such as Inductions, CRB clearance, competence etc.
- Carry out Project review meetings in line with Project Management good practice.
- Ensure all work activities are carried out safely and in accordance with statutory and corporate regulations and legislation, Healthcare Standards and Specifications.
- Ensure all data and management information is maintained and communicated accurately to agreed deadlines by the Head of Facilities, Equans Management colleagues or as requested by the client. Support the retention of ISO14001 and environmental focus to reduce carbon emissions and utilities consumption.
- Ensure all Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations are followed where appropriate and ensure all company paperwork relevant to this is completed.
- Liaise and coordinate with Equans colleagues, sub-contractors and Soft Services Partners such that FM services are seen as a seamless service delivery.
- Promote Health and Safety and culture amongst the Equans team, Subcontractors and Service Partners , procedure guidelines and best practice.
- Demonstrate an observable commitment to Behavioural Safety and establishing an incident and injury free culture – including adherence always to Equans Safety First Policy
- Keep confidential any information gained regarding the company and its personnel.
- Implement and maintain company safety procedures throughout the development process to ensure minimal risk to personnel.
- Ensure a quality system of work is in place to allow the quality of the works to be monitored.
- Where appropriate, obtain accurate Operating & Maintenance Manuals for the on-site maintenance team.
- Action any other duties as required by the Senior Project Manager.

Technical Services Manager (Mechanical)
Equans is looking for a Technical Services Manager (Mechanical) to join our team at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £53,000-£57,000, dependent upon skills and experience, company vehicle or allowance, bonus, and benefits package.
Reporting to the Head of Estates, the post holder will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the maintenance services in accordance with the requirements of the Contract for the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals.
Responsible for the effective management of Assistant Technical Services Managers and trade staff ensuring all maintenance activities comply with the statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines.
The post holder will also collaborate and co-operate with the Service Providers to deliver customer focused, cost effective and efficient maintenance service.
The post holder will provide operational and technical expertise to the contract team. Develop service-related continuous improvement initiatives, from conception to introduction. Develop introduce business efficiency measures to ensure a cost effective and best value as well as Provide AP/CP expertise ensuring statutory compliance Management and delivery of FM services to satisfy service level agreements.
The ideal candidate will be technically competent to to lead and influence continuous improvement within complex healthcare environments. Be able to quickly assess challenges and opportunities, offer pragmatic solutions and influence direction, and have the ability to accept and work with ambiguity in resolving high volumes of often complex challenges expediently.
What will you deliver?
- Manage and co-ordinate directly employed labor and sub-contractors in reacting to breakdowns and implementing the Planned Preventative Maintenance Systems
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines
- Provide technical assurance advice across the discipline of maintenance services
- Review and develop the quality of service at an operational level and Control expenditure as delegated by the Contract Manager
- Ensure all staff are trained and aware of health and safety responsibilities in accordance with statutory, NHS and Trust guidelines and the companies Incident and Behavioral Safety Initiatives
- Set objectives and appraise staff in line with company policy
- Positively manage relationships with stakeholders and Trust representatives to enhance perception of service provision
- Maintain records as appropriate, relevant plant and equipment for technical performance
- Prepare estimates for new works & lead support as required for projects
- Ensure Planning and scheduling all planned preventative maintenance activities for buildings, plant and equipment using the Maximo system or other works management system, with consideration to statute, Regulations, ACOP’s and Guidance (HTM’s).
- Undertake negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to provide a cost-effective service with reference to the contract SLA’s. The post holder will be required to lead negotiations for services and contracts
- Responsible for specific elements of budgetary control and give additional support with financial controls with reference to departmental budgetary control, stock, contracts etc
- Attend and lead as required Health & Safety forums with staff and the client on a regular basis
- Participate as a member of the Estates Team by achieving Authorised Person (AP) status in a number of disciplines as required and directed by Senior Management Team
- Responsible for participating in the ‘on call’ rota as and when required, after suitable training and relevant experience is gained as directed by Senior Management

Who are we looking for?
- Must have 3 years post qualification experience
- Experience of risk management and health and safety
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry guidelines
- Authorised Person qualified to Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) Standard
- High level of verbal, written and numeric skills
- Must be able to manage people, be self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Must have Mechanical experience, ideally within a PFI Healthcare environment
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
