Position Overview:
As a Materials Management Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Materials Management Service, providing vital support to hospital departments. Your responsibilities will include managing stock control, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving stock, as well as regular physical movement around the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stock Management: Regularly count and manage materials across various hospital departments using a computerised stock control system (PDA), ensuring that stock levels are maintained according to agreed schedules.
  • Ordering & Delivery: Produce ‘top-up’ orders and ensure timely transportation of goods to designated wards and departments.
  • Inventory Management: Check and put away stock, report discrepancies, and ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including safe manual handling practices, while maintaining a tidy and safe working environment.
  • Physical Handling & Transport: You will be required to carry out manual handling duties, including lifting and moving heavy items, and transporting goods across the hospital in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of materials, process orders, and support with administrative tasks as required.
  • Training: Participate in required training and development courses to ensure ongoing skill improvement and compliance with industry standards.
  • GP Vacutainer Service: Assist in the picking, packing, and distribution of orders to clinics and surgeries.

You will develop and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues and clients, acting as a professional representative of Equans at all times. Your ability to maintain confidentiality and a high standard of work will contribute to the overall success of the Materials Management team.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Numeracy and Literacy: Ability to produce simple reports and manage stock records.
  • Educational Requirements: Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
  • IT Skills: Competent in using computer systems and stock management software.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a stores/receipt and distribution environment, preferably within the NHS or healthcare sector.
  • Physical Requirements: The role involves regular manual handling, including lifting and moving stock. Applicants should be physically fit and capable of performing these duties safely and efficiently.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the service.

EQUANS are recruiting for a Groundworker to be based in Belfast. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £27,560, plus a van & fuel card and benefits package.

General Overview

  • To undertake the duties/responsibilities as a Groundworker to the standards set out by the contract. 
  • To carry out the duties as a Groundworker in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Company policies and Procedures.

Grounds Operative

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Grounds Operative to join our Facilities Management team at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth.  This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week 

from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.


The role:

  • Reporting to the Grounds Supervisor.
  • Maintain the hospital grounds to a professional standard including emptying outdoor bins, litter picking and road sweeping
  • Carry out snow clearing
  • Strimming, mowing, weeding, seasonal clearance of fallen leaves and removal of fallen branches
  • Use relevant tools and equipment, drive company vehicles and machinery safely
  • Assist trades staff in maintenance work when needed
  • Assist with stores / move stock and materials
  • Working 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday


The person:

  • Previous experience of grounds work is preferred but not essential
  • Good standard of fitness appropriate to the tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills and a high standard of work and attention to detail
  • Good organisation skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise work using own initiative
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, and to represent the Company in a professional manner to the Client and public

Grounds Supervisor

The role:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager
  • To supervise and assist with the maintenance of the hospital grounds to a professional standard, by means of litter and weed control, graffiti removal, and snow and ice removal
  • To oversee the day to day operations of the external Car Parking arrangements
  • Maintain close liaison with the Trust Facilities team members
  • Oversee the direct labour team and those of sub-contractors
  • Assist trade staff in maintenance, repair and installation / new works
  • To monitor and approve contractors’ work
  • Working 40 hours per week from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday

The person:

 

  • Must have supervisory experience and good people management skills
  • Strongly client focused, able to take ownership of projects/issues and resolve
  • Previous experience of grounds work is desirable
  • Excellent customer service skills and a high standard of work and attention to detail
  • Good organisation skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise work
  • Multi-skilled with a flexible, can-do approach
  • Familiar with Health & Safety procedures, manual handling and COSHH
  • A full driving licence is essential
  • Must be able to gain DBS clearance

General Overview

To carry out the duties as a Groundworker in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Company policies and Procedures.  To assist the Team in producing a quality product meeting the requirements of the contract and in a safe manner.  Adhere to all requirements set by SHEQ team, policy, and strategy.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualifications: A formal apprenticeship in a relevant City & Guilds Trade Craft.
  • Experience: Previous experience in building fabric repairs and maintenance.
  • Health & Safety: Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk assessment procedures.
  • Licensing: A full, clean driving license is essential; IPAF (MEWP) qualification is desirable.
  • DBS Check: Enhanced DBS clearance is required to work on-site (dependent on passing clearance).
  • Skills: Highly motivated, customer-focused, and collaborative with a strong attention to detail and quality.

M&E Supervisor

We currently have an exciting new opportunity for an M&E Building Services Supervisor to support our multi-site Barking Schools contract where Equans provides total FM services at two secondary schools.

Key activities: 

  • Supervise the M&E team to ensure all work is carried out to contract specification and client satisfaction 
  • To undertake PPM and reactive works ensuring that all jobs are completed in line with SLA’s, KPI’s and CPI’s
  • To ensure the speedy and correct allocation of work so that jobs are completed in accordance with the performance monitoring system
  • Assist with the planning and organising of work for both direct and contract labour to ensure cost and time targets are met including allocating and controlling overtime organising out-of-hours emergency works
  • Order materials and services, maintain records, control stock, provide engineers reports, etc
  • Assist with estimates, site measurements and cost control information; to identify chargeable works and ensure these are properly recorded 
  • Liaise with the client when required to resolve any issues
  • To organise and participate in the out of hours on-call rota
  • Working 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday

 Skills, qualifications & experience: 

  • Must hold a recognised electrical or mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical or mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
  • Must have supervisory experience and good people management skills (appraisals, training, recruitment, team briefings, )
  • Strong IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook; any experience with Maximo an advantage
  • Proven track record of maintenance/hard services within Facilities Management
  • Strongly client focused, able to take ownership of projects/issues and resolve
  • A proactive, flexible, can-do approach

Store person

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Stores person to join our facilities team at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth.  This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8am-5pm. 

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Estates stores, involving the requisitioning of materials, stock control, goods receiving and dealing with invoice and delivery queries.
  • Ensure correct receipt, quantity control, storage and security of stock and non-stock items
  • Ensure best value for money obtaining competitive quotes
  • Ensure all stock is recorded in the CAFM system (Maximo)
  • Ensure Purchase orders are receipted correctly and sent to finance on time.
  • Management of the supplier library and maintain contact with suppliers
  • To manage the distribution of stock to staff
  • Discuss with suppliers / manufacturers recommended spares lists for plant and equipment.
  • Carry out some minor PPM activities e.g. ladder inspections (mobile and fixed)
  • Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00

Job Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fabric Engineer to provide essential mechanical support in maintaining three secondary schools within Peterborough. As part of our Operations team, you will play a key role in ensuring the upkeep and functionality of the building fabric, supporting the safe and efficient running of these facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled, planned, and reactive maintenance tasks on building fabrics, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors (including fire doors), and windows.
  • Carry out repairs to structural elements such as fixing cracks, leaks, and damaged surfaces.
  • Provide painting, plastering, and decorating services to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the buildings.
  • Undertake occasional installation and project works.
  • Maintain up-to-date trade knowledge and qualifications to ensure safe and efficient performance of duties.
  • Provide quotations for small works as required.
  • Use the Maximo CAFM system to manage workload effectively.
  • Ensure the prompt and accurate completion of associated paperwork.
  • Advise on parts and labour requirements for additional works, interfacing with suppliers and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Oversee external contractors and escort them when required.
  • Participate in the on-call rota as part of a team.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety policies, ensuring compliance with all company policies, management plans, and procedures.

Core Skill Requirements:

Essential:

  • Understanding of maintenance requirements for building services and assets in a multi-site environment.
  • Knowledge of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Enhanced DBS Certification required.

Desirable:

  • Formal qualifications up to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (carpentry or fabric-related trade).
  • Previous experience working on PFI contracts, preferably within an educational environment.
  • Understanding of Asset Maintenance and Lifecycle Works.
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • Health & Safety / COSHH awareness.
