Maintenance Electrician

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Electrician to join our maintenance team working at two University of Cambridge research and teaching facilities in Cambridge city centre working 40 hours per week from 07:30 to 16:00. Monday to Friday.  This is a foot mobile role across the two buildings on the site. 

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the M&E Supervisor
  • To provide the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of electrical services plant and equipment
  • To carry out the installation of new electrical equipment as required i.e. minor new works, refurbishment and capital works replacement programme
  • Investigate, trouble shoot and rectify defects for all electrical systems and associated plant/components or if unable to do so, arrange specialist external staff or subcontractors
  • Experienced in all types of design and installation techniques with the ability to appraise problems and the capability to rectify them.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all associated paperwork
  • To participate in the Appointed Persons role for an identified discipline
  • Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 16:00

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Must hold a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical discipline with suitable industry experience
  • Competent Person L8 experience
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Good communication skills, customer focused with a proactive, flexible, can-do approach
  • In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety procedures

Mechanical Building Services Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with solid mechanical maintenance experience to join our estates team at the John Radcliffe hospital  in Oxford.  This is a permanent full-time position working from 07:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday. 

Key activities

  • Reporting to the Technical Services Manager
  • Act as Lead Technician for the site providing a thorough understanding of mechanical ventilation building services installation and maintenance techniques, including Medical Gas and F Gas.
  • Apply trade skills and experience, including one to one training to members of the team.
  • Ensure the satisfactory completion of statutory obligations and the completion of allocated maintenance, breakdown repairs, installation, new and refurbishment works, all within the SLA and KPI’s applied to site.  
  • To be an Authorised Person for up to three disciplines.
  • Carry out maintenance/repair on mechanical ventilation services to plant and equipment across the site, including supervising both in-house staff and contractors
  • Carry out refurbishments and new works across the site all within KPI and SLA targets
  • Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm with a requirement for participation in the on call rota

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience;
  • Must have a proven track record within maintenance / hard services
  • Must be strongly Client focussed and able to take ownership of projects
  • Must have good IT skills with experience in the use of CAFM systems, word and excel
  • Subject to a DBS Check

What will you deliver? 

  • The role involves the Installation and deinstallation of National Lottery equipment across the UK and Ireland at Circa 44,000 retailers.
  • Ensure the project is delivered on time within the stipulated scope and budget

  • Ensure that when unloading old kit, you store it safely & correctly for the driver to collect.
  • Ensure safe manual handling is adhered to.
  • Excellent service delivery is needed at all Retailers.

  • Ensure that any issues/ faults or defects are swiftly reported.

  • Develop a good working relationship with all members of EQUANS Staff, Sub-Contractors, and the Client representatives.

Fabric Operative

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Fabric Operative to join our facilities team at North Middlesex University Hospital in Edmonton.  This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week from 8am to 5pm / 10am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, alternating weekly.


The role:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager
  • Undertake or oversee all fabric works and elements of statutory compliance
  • Carry out all fabric duties such as carpentry, painting & decorating, replacing ceiling tiles and laying carpet tiles
  • To undertake PPM and reactive works to ensure that all jobs are completed
  • To immediately report any potentially dangerous situations
  • To order materials and services using ordering system and to update records and job sheets to certify satisfactory delivery/completion
  • Carry out and record all required compliance checks such as Water Hygiene checks in accordance with ACOP L8 and Fire Door checks in accordance with BM TRADA and others
  • To oversee specialist sub-contractors by escorting round the building and monitoring work
  • Working 40 hours per week, from 8am to 5pm / 10am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, alternating weekly.


The person:

  • Must hold a Fabric or Carpentry qualification to minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and be able to carry out general fabric repairs (doors and panels)
  • Will possess varied fabric skills, including fire doors checks/repairs, door panels/fire stopping repairs and shower accessory replacements
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment is desirable
  • Essential to have an understanding of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety
  • Understanding of the Maximo CAFM system is desirable
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team; proactive, flexible, can-do attitude

Mechanical Building Services Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our maintenance team at Addenbrooke’s Treatment Centre in Cambridge working 40 hours per week, shifts from 07:00 to 15:30 / 14:00 to 22:00, Monday to Friday (alternating weekly).

Key activities:

  • Apply relevant trade skills to any allocated jobs as directed by the Supervisor or Manager
  • Work alone with minimum supervision or within a team to carry out maintenance/repair or mechanical/electrical services to plant and equipment across the Site. Work alone or in a team carrying out refurbishments and new works across the Site
  • Responsible for the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems, associated plant/equipment installed throughout the Site
  • Carry out mechanical/electrical repairs and cleaning of mechanical components and equipment as necessary.
  • Undertake training and qualify as Authorised or Competent Person for mechanical/electrical plant and systems as required

  • Prepare pressure vessels for insurance inspections and carry out necessary repairs/testing
  • Maintain and carry out repairs on HVAC systems, gas appliances, Piped Medical Gas systems, steam plant/equipment and all other equipment in plant rooms, patient areas and other departments.
  • Working 40 hours per week from 07:00 to 15:30 / 14:00 to 22:00, Monday to Friday (alternating weekly) with a requirement to participate in the on call rota.

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
  • Experience in building services is required
  • Willingness to attain cross skilling and to undertake training and qualify as an Authorised Person as required
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrate good planning, organising and prioritising skills
  • Ability to show examples of using initiative and judgement to resolve problems
  • Experience in a Healthcare environment is advantageous

Mobile Technical Operative - Fabric

Equans is looking for a Mobile Technical Operative (Fabric) to join our team in Newport on a permanent basis for our HMCTS contract. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Fabric Engineer to join our team in wales. As a Fabric Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the maintenance within our facilities.
As part of a national mobile engineering team, you will be required to assist in the efficient delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance tasks. You will need to deliver a wide range of statutory and routine PPMs as well as Reactive Maintenance activities that will require completion in-line with specific contract Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
This role is for a Maintenance Engineer with a Fabric bias who is competent to deliver high quality planned maintenance and reactive repairs across multiple disciplines, with particular attention being given to working in the delivery of compliance PPM. Although the main functions of the role will be Fabric orientated, tasks within other disciplines may be assigned when required and appropriate to their competency.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure that EQUANS engineering standards and associated competencies are consistently delivered and demonstrable.
• Deliver PPM, reactive works and other compliance tasks.
• Ensure that the Customer and the Equans Team are ‘kept in the loop’ through feedback and regular updates.
• Contribute to the delivery of a quality service, aiming for 100% satisfaction of the Customer.
• Ensure best value for money to the Customer by ensuring accuracy within the Team by checking resource and materials are suitable to effectively deliver the service.
• Produce details of time and materials required for any minor works, for quoting purposes.
• Report on performance to your Technical Services Manager.

About You
Minimum Qualifications, Certifications and Training required
• GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience for this role
• 2 years previous experience within similar environment involved in multi discipline building services delivery.

Electrical Craftsperson

EQUANS is looking for an Electrical Craftsperson to join our team in Wakefield on a permanent basis at Pinderfield and Pontefract Hospital. This is a full time role working 42 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

General Overview:
Working directly to the Technical Supervisors, the post holder will have the required skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of electrical engineering services and building plant as part of a flexible maintenance team, including specialist subcontractors to deliver work to the highest of standards for our clients.
The main responsibilities include efficiently and effectively performing electrical maintenance of all relevant assets. Work will be assigned from a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule or in response to a reactive work order raised by our client representatives or our own personnel on site. All planned and reactive tasks will be managed through to completion, including fault diagnosis and sourcing parts where applicable. Must be able to demonstrate that awareness of best working practices and that these are followed at all times.
Working as part of a wider M&E team, there may be a requirement to undertake other tasks that may not be specifically related to electrical systems.

Impact:
The objective of the department is to operate and maintain a physical environment in which healthcare can be delivered to the patient. The main elements being the maintenance of both building fabric and services e.g. external and internal finishes, fittings and fixtures, plumbing, electrical and mechanical services, piped medical gases etc.
Compliance with all statutory requirements in relation to safe working practices and safe operation of plant, equipment and services. Keeping records of all activities as per all Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) and Quality Assurance requirements and to providing professional advice and guidance on all aspects of building services maintenance and repair.

Complexity:
• To work in accordance with the requirements of Health Technical Memoranda (HTM’s) and any other relevant statutory compliance requirements.
• To be certified Appointed Person in critical systems including Electrical (Low Voltage). This requires the post holder to be trained, certificated and reassessed at regular intervals, generally three yearly.
• To support, advise and action Policy and Safe Working Procedures as a Competent Person (Electrical).
• Actively participate in the operation and control of all engineering planned maintenance schemes and undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities to plant and non-medical equipment.
• Undertake fault finding on complex hospital infrastructure including low voltage power and distribution systems, lighting systems including Emergency lighting. UPS, IPS supplies and standby generators. Using cause effect analysis and detailed examination to gain a solution and use of all relevant drawings and schematics.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections and commission and test in accordance with published procedures.
• Complete all report sheets and test certificates as necessary and mark up any drawing alterations.
Complete all Task/Risk Assessment sheets relating to work.
• Use of all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works ensuring full compliance with EQUANS Guidelines and Controls e.g. Risk Assessment, Site Safety, Fire Safety, Control of Infection and Hazardous Substances.
• Carry out emergency repairs as required (which may require overtime).
• Obligation to undertake training where necessary to learn new techniques and technology.
• Understand the relationship of other maintenance crafts to this role.
• Monitors the building services and report defects to the Technical Supervisors.
• Familiar in the use of Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Recording of planned and reactive maintenance in the site CAFM systems via electronic data devices.
• Provide feedback on PPM results in relation to building related PPM issues and Fire Safety.
• Awareness and understanding of contract KPI’s to ensure compliance and effective service delivery
• Communicate with wards/departments to ensure awareness of planned/re-active works in their area and ensure completion to their satisfaction.
• Supervise, communicate and develop other trades staff and assess/evaluate the quality of the work.
• Ensures that all activities proceed in a safe manner compliant with Statutory Regulation, CDM, Good Practice, etc by compiling procedures, monitoring standards and maintaining records.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
Recognised Electrical/Engineering Apprenticeship – HNC, ONC, City & Guilds, or equivalent experience.
BS7671(18th Edition).
Must be able to obtain Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance.

Building Fabric Operative

EQUANS is looking for a Building Fabric Operative to join our team in Wakefield on a permanent basis for Pinderfield and Pontefract Hospital. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.  

General Overview:
• Work alongside a dynamic maintenance team to deliver the required services, ensuring the Hospital is maintained to the highest standard.
• Provide a customer facing highly responsive maintenance service.
• Undertake a range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks and carry these out to a very high standard.
• Provide assistance and information to other members of the maintenance team.
• Carry out training to be able to provide required duties, which includes but is not limited to fire door maintenance.
• Work with a level of multi-skilling and flexibility
• Report to the maintenance supervisor
• Provide reports on work in progress and work completed to ensure consistency, keeping required records for fire door and other fabric related tasks.

Impact:
To assist in maintenance services EQUANS provide for the NHS Trust through the concession agreement through Pinderfields / Pontefract.

Complexity:
1. To undertake basic fire door inspections to agreed planned maintenance schedule, validating their condition.
2. Keeping records for fire door inspections, updating details on to the Bolster system
3. Carrying out minor repairs to fire doors, to ensure compliance.
4. Carry out maintenance, as part of the estates team as and when required, including fabric repairs, painting / patching, ceiling repairs, wall protection, glazing replacement and flooring repairs.
5. Provide cover for absent colleagues as appropriate to maintain the service.
6. Perform duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory, NHS, Trust, and Company guidelines.
7. Have an awareness of the operational procedures and safe working practices for the role.
8. Maintain records and complete service reports as appropriate. Providing regular reports on progress to your line manager
9. Assist other skilled trades in carrying out maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection, and installation work (SWR) & Sall (VETs)
10. Undertake training to maintain and develop skills in line with the requirements of the service.
11. Liaise and undertake duties at other healthcare projects as directed.
12. Undertake overtime as required to maintain the service.
13. Perform any other duties as required commensurate with grade.
