Assistant technical services manager mechanical

Equans is looking for an Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical) to join our team at Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The role is based at Sandwell and Birmingham City Hospital (SWBH). Equans are working closely in partnership with the Trust to ensure the facility is of a good quality and able to provide a sustainable service to the area not only in respect to healthcare provision but also providing a diverse value to the local community.

The role is to assist the Technical Services Manager in the provision and deliver of a high-quality maintenance service. The role will also include assisting in the operation, repair and maintenance of building fabric and engineering services while working within a multi-disciplinary hard service team environment. Due to the wide range of services and systems installed within the building the role requires a wide range of skills and flexible nature but also provides the opportunity to work in a very rewarding environment with continued opportunity for learning and development.

Whilst the role will be based at the SWBH Equans are also responsible for the maintenance of other sites within the Trust’s estate and it is possible that the post holder will be required to work at other sites and may be requested to vary hours to cover shifts patterns where needed to cover annual leave and sickness.

What will you deliver?

  • Plan and schedule all planned preventative maintenance activities in conjunction with the Planning Coordinator for buildings, plant and equipment using the Maximo system, with consideration to statute, Regulations, ACOP’s and Guidance (HTM’s)
  • Assist the Technical Services Manager to undertake negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to provide a cost-effective service with reference to the contract SLA’s
  • Responsible for specific elements of budgetary control and give additional assistance with financial controls with reference to departmental budget, stock, contracts etc
  • Ensuring that all staff and subcontractors’ response and rectification times are met, and repairs are undertaken diligently, with due care and without undue delay
  • To review the quality of work undertaken by both directly employed staff and contractors
  • Assist in ensuring cover is always provided by ensuring shift rotas are adequately covered
  • Responsible for the safety of plant, equipment and infrastructure and for safe working practices
  • Responsible for bringing to the attention of the Technical Services Manager and all Senior Management any unsafe working conditions, working practices, unsafe plant or equipment encountered during the execution of duties including reporting on the company reporting and recording system
  • Participate as a member of the Estates Team by achieving Authorised Person (AP) status in a number of disciplines as required and directed by Senior Management Team which will include at least 2 of the following key disciplines along with any other disciplines deemed necessary:
    • Ventilation
    • Pressure Systems
    • Medical Gas
  • Required participating in the ‘on call’ rota as and when required, after suitable training and relevant experience is gained as directed by Senior Management
  • Required to supervision and participating in a ‘recall to work’ procedure for emergency repairs as required when not on call
  • Assist management with review on utilisation of workforce working closely with the CAFM management team

Who are we looking for?

  • City and Guild or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline
  • High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate
  • A sound knowledge of standard spreadsheet packages and computerised estates and project management systems
  • Must be able to manage people, be self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, and be able to liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment

SHEQ Business Partner

This is a regional role covering South East & London. The role offers hybrid working.

To provide guidance and leadership to ensure that the HMCTS contract in the Sustainable Facilities Management (Sustainable FM) division meets its statutory safety and environment requirements and to assist in delivering on responsible business initiatives.

This role will identify and deliver solutions to improve operational safety, health, environment & quality (SHEQ) in contracts in the part of the division that they are assigned to. Working closely, and in partnership, with the operational teams and the Responsible Business, CDM and Sustainable FM SHEQ Solutions teams this role will ensure the EQUANS objectives and SHEQ culture are embedded within sites and contracts at a regional level.

We are looking for an individual with or working towards NEBOSH General Certificate, Previous experience of a Health and Safety role within the construction, energy sector, FM or related industries and Demonstrable experience relevant SHEQ legislation.

What will you deliver?

  • Management of SHEQ across the Regional Operational area to ensure all work is undertaken to external and internal standards and guidelines
  • Work with the Senior SHEQ Managers, SHEQ Solutions BPs, RB, CDM and Central SHEQ to utilise and maintain adequate systems to meet all statutory and EQUANS obligations
  • Ensure all reportable data (Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, HiPo’s, LTI’s, Incidents, LSV/MSVs) is recorded accurately on the contract – coach contracts, sites and individuals where required
  • Establish SHEQ Action Plans for each contract – these outputs will deliver safer workplaces, improved employee engagement, culture and support our work-winning activity as models of best practice
  • Continuously work towards SHEQ Solutions and BSI audit standards
  • Act on the findings of internal and external audits – providing guidance to the sites and feedback to SHEQ Solutions and BSI on tools, processes and systems that may be needed to improve the safety and quality of our work
  • Mentor the Safety Ambassadors within the contract that you will be responsible for
  • Lead by example in following the company’s Responsible Business values and objectives
  • Ensure that each contract has a Training Matrix or Learning Management System to ensure that all colleagues within the area have the appropriate Responsible Business, Quality and H&S training, qualifications, and development. The delivery of training that impacts safety should be monitored and prioritised
  • Lead investigations and liaise with stakeholders, ensuring detailed investigations are undertaken and full reports/ recommendations are provided – these reports will adequately identify the root causes of incidents
  • Hold close out meetings, to ensure incidents/ investigations are fully closed and firm action plans with recommendations are presented to the Accident Incident Review boards to prevent further occurrences across the division and UKBU
  • Support other internal functions to ensure systems and resources are appropriate to manage the risks across the area
  • Coach contracts to use the Divisional Reporting tools (such as the Sustainable FM Power BI) and feedback to the SHEQ Solutions team on what further reporting may be needed
  • Form strategic relationships with the HSE/EHO’s and other appropriate industry forums
  • Support key bids, attend tender interviews, lead competitive dialogue in the bid process to demonstrate that H&S is top the agenda
  • Working as a team with other SHEQ Solutions BPs in Sustainable FM SHEQ, functions and operations to ensure a positive Health & Safety culture, compliance and management system across the area BU
  • Provide innovation and market leading solutions, delivering continuous improvement and data led focus on safety and responsible business
  • Provide SHEQ induction training and guidance on the use of SHEQ platforms, i.e. AIMS, PowerBI, Sypol
  • Attend regular staff roadshows with regional operational teams
  • Support with management of non-conformity reports (NCRs) within region of responsibility

Technical Supervisor

Equans is looking for a Technical Supervisor to join our team in and around Cardiff on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The primary purpose of the role is to supervise and manage a team of static/mobile engineers across several sites making sure that all PPM and Reactive Works are completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with the contracted output specifications and Equans processes and procedures.

The position is to ensure that all required Building Engineering services as per the Engineering Building strategy is carried out. The position will require you to provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.

Primary regard must be given to Health, Safety, and Environmental and Quality considerations.

What will you deliver?

  • Effectively manage a team of engineers carrying out all aspects of maintenance in accordance with KPIs/SLAs in a safe working manner
  • Provide support to maintain the highest standard of statutory compliance. Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in accordance with the Equans Environmental Health & Safety policy, quality, sustainability and energy efficiency related standards, including Legionella Management
  • Assist in producing all required documentation to ensure that any incidents are recorded and escalated as per the requirements of the contract, not limited to but including risk management, operational continuity, and operational equipment status reports
  • Act as a Appointed Person / Responsible Person for Technical Disciplines, as required
  • Manage the engineer’s data and job details in accordance with client and Equans requirements to ensure that the Computer Aided Facilities Management System (CAFM) is maintained to a current and accurate status to ensure the highest level of operational resilience and completion of works
  • Assist the Regional Technical Manager in the first instance in the supervision of sub-contractors and specialist providers where required and liaise with all other parts of the Project Teams to support project activity
  • Build strong professional relationships with other groups within Engineering Services and the wider Equans Group to ensure a common approach is adopted in support of operational delivery and work in collaboration with Equans nominated management
  • Drive effective maintenance policies including adequate and rationalised spares, time-management concepts and techniques and the analysis of complex information, drawing logical conclusions and the develop of sound recommendations
  • Participate in the 24/7 maintenance cover (including on call rota) of the Building Engineering Services during normal and emergency activities, assisting in the preparation of emergency and contingency plans. Participate in emergency plans and provide written reports as required
  • Proactively manage preventative maintenance and corrective works whilst maintaining the highest level of customer focus
  • Identify and manage a Critical Spares strategy
  • Carry out sub-contractor audits and awareness
  • Manage and co-ordinate all statutory maintenance activities

What will you deliver?

  • To be accountable for the financial performance of the contracts
  • To ensure personnel manage the contract to the Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • To ensure that all risks relating to safety, health, environment and quality are effectively managed through the use of risk assessments, PPE, training and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment for both employees and clients
  • To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with Equans Technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements (or approved client system)
  • To review monthly audit checks demonstrating legislative compliance within scope of service delivery streams and to escalate to the portfolio director as necessary

Sub Contractor Manager

Equans is looking for a Sub-contractor Manager to join our team in Hartlepool on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The role holder will coordinate subcontractor activities on site. By setting and maintaining a high standard of SHEQ compliance from all subcontractors who operate on behalf of Equans at Hartlepool Power Station.

What will you deliver?

  • Manage Equans SMOC process and ensure any subcontractors working on site are fully approved on SMOC with relevant SMOC documentation in place.
  • Conduct subcontractor inaugural meetings with subcontractors before work can commence. (Every annual)
  • Oversee / manager any subcontractor supervisors/field supervisors, ensuring supervision is meeting expectations. (Suitable setting to work, pre job brief, spot checks etc)
  • Meet/greet subcontractors working on behalf of Equans on day of work.
  • Update subcontractor manager board
  • Conduct a robust setting to work and pre job brief with subcontractors working for Equans. (Where required)
  • Review subcontractor RAMS prior to work and review on day of work with subcontractors ensuring subcontractors understand their RAMS/SSOW and sign off stating they understand and will follow their RAMS when working.
  • Ensure any high risk works subcontractors undertaken are approved to complete by local ISM, ensuring local ISM has reviewed and approved subcontractor RAMS prior to task commencing.
  • Supervise and oversee works in the field by completing regular spot checks on subcontractor working. (active supervision)
  • Liaise with operations manages/supervisors planning subcontractor works and build strong relationships with teams to support subcontractor works.
  • Review subcontractor performance on regular basis and feedback to operation managers and local ISM on any Health & Safety concerns/issues.

Sub Contractor Manager

Equans is looking for a Sub-contractor Manager to join our team in West Kilbride on a 12 month FTC basis. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The role holder will coordinate subcontractor activities on site. By setting and maintaining a high standard of SHEQ compliance from all subcontractors who operate on behalf of Equans at Hunterston B Power Station 

What will you deliver?

  • Manage Equans SMOC process and ensure any subcontractors working on site are fully approved on SMOC with relevant SMOC documentation in place.
  • Conduct subcontractor inaugural meetings with subcontractors before work can commence. (Every annual)
  • Oversee / manager any subcontractor supervisors/field supervisors, ensuring supervision is meeting expectations. (Suitable setting to work, pre job brief, spot checks etc)
  • Meet/greet subcontractors working on behalf of Equans on day of work.
  • Update subcontractor manager board
  • Conduct a robust setting to work and pre job brief with subcontractors working for Equans. (Where required)
  • Review subcontractor RAMS prior to work and review on day of work with subcontractors ensuring subcontractors understand their RAMS/SSOW and sign off stating they understand and will follow their RAMS when working.
  • Ensure any high risk works subcontractors undertaken are approved to complete by local ISM, ensuring local ISM has reviewed and approved subcontractor RAMS prior to task commencing.
  • Supervise and oversee works in the field by completing regular spot checks on subcontractor working. (active supervision)
  • Liaise with operations manages/supervisors planning subcontractor works and build strong relationships with teams to support subcontractor works.
  • Review subcontractor performance on regular basis and feedback to operation managers and local ISM on any Health & Safety concerns/issues.

SHEQ Business Partner

Equans is looking for a SHEQ Business Partner to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

This is a regional role covering the North West, North East & Scotland. The role offers hybrid working.

To provide guidance and leadership to ensure that the HMCTS contract in the Sustainable Facilities Management (Sustainable FM) division meets its statutory safety and environment requirements and to assist in delivering on responsible business initiatives.

This role will identify and deliver solutions to improve operational safety, health, environment & quality (SHEQ) in contracts in the part of the division that they are assigned to. Working closely, and in partnership, with the operational teams and the Responsible Business, CDM and Sustainable FM SHEQ Solutions teams this role will ensure the EQUANS objectives and SHEQ culture are embedded within sites and contracts at a regional level.

We are looking for an individual with or working towards NEBOSH General Certificate, Previous experience of a Health and Safety role within the construction, energy sector, FM or related industries and Demonstrable experience relevant SHEQ legislation.

What will you deliver?

  • Management of SHEQ across the Regional Operational area to ensure all work is undertaken to external and internal standards and guidelines
  • Work with the Senior SHEQ Managers, SHEQ Solutions BPs, RB, CDM and Central SHEQ to utilise and maintain adequate systems to meet all statutory and EQUANS obligations
  • Ensure all reportable data (Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, HiPo’s, LTI’s, Incidents, LSV/MSVs) is recorded accurately on the contract – coach contracts, sites and individuals where required
  • Establish SHEQ Action Plans for each contract – these outputs will deliver safer workplaces, improved employee engagement, culture and support our work-winning activity as models of best practice
  • Continuously work towards SHEQ Solutions and BSI audit standards
  • Act on the findings of internal and external audits – providing guidance to the sites and feedback to SHEQ Solutions and BSI on tools, processes and systems that may be needed to improve the safety and quality of our work
  • Mentor the Safety Ambassadors within the contract that you will be responsible for
  • Lead by example in following the company’s Responsible Business values and objectives
  • Ensure that each contract has a Training Matrix or Learning Management System to ensure that all colleagues within the area have the appropriate Responsible Business, Quality and H&S training, qualifications, and development. The delivery of training that impacts safety should be monitored and prioritised
  • Lead investigations and liaise with stakeholders, ensuring detailed investigations are undertaken and full reports/ recommendations are provided – these reports will adequately identify the root causes of incidents
  • Hold close out meetings, to ensure incidents/ investigations are fully closed and firm action plans with recommendations are presented to the Accident Incident Review boards to prevent further occurrences across the division and UKBU
  • Support other internal functions to ensure systems and resources are appropriate to manage the risks across the area
  • Coach contracts to use the Divisional Reporting tools (such as the Sustainable FM Power BI) and feedback to the SHEQ Solutions team on what further reporting may be needed
  • Form strategic relationships with the HSE/EHO’s and other appropriate industry forums
  • Support key bids, attend tender interviews, lead competitive dialogue in the bid process to demonstrate that H&S is top the agenda
  • Working as a team with other SHEQ Solutions BPs in Sustainable FM SHEQ, functions and operations to ensure a positive Health & Safety culture, compliance and management system across the area BU
  • Provide innovation and market leading solutions, delivering continuous improvement and data led focus on safety and responsible business
  • Provide SHEQ induction training and guidance on the use of SHEQ platforms, i.e. AIMS, PowerBI, Sypol
  • Attend regular staff roadshows with regional operational teams
  • Support with management of non-conformity reports (NCRs) within region of responsibility
  • Collaborate on Central/Divisional SHEQ projects, liaising with other SHEQ professionals across UKBU
