Key Responsibilities:

As a Site Supervisor, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our solar farm construction operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the safety of all personnel on-site
  • Overseeing daily work activities
  • Managing multiple subcontractors effectively
  • Reviewing and optimizing work schedules
  • Scheduling and maintaining site offices
  • Upholding project availability standards
  • Providing training and ensuring the safety of technicians
  • Effective communication with the management team

In addition, you will be responsible for setting site and individual goals, staying within budgetary constraints, and handling disciplinary actions when necessary. Your role as a field environment role model will ensure that all procedures are followed meticulously.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential:

  • Previous experience in electrical / civils projects in rail, utilities, or the highways sector
  • Electrical or Civils trade qualifications (City & Guilds or NVQ)
  • Supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with Cat & Genny equipment
  • Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in the Solar PV renewable energy industry
  • Familiarity with current solar technology
  • First Aid certificates

Head of Energy Innovation

EQUANS is looking for a Head of Energy Innovation to join our team in Bevis Marks London on a permanent basis. This is a fulltime role working Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to lead and develop the capabilities and presence of EQUANS in the wider innovation decarbonisation landscape working with  government funded organisation such as Innovate UK to develop partnerships with local and regional authorities, housing landlords and associated stakeholders.   • Lead and develop new and existing revenue and growth opportunities through innovation bids to organically grow the business.
  • Take ownership of bid outcomes, ensuring projects meet or exceed set objectives and contribute to overall business growth.
  • Collaborate with the internal finance team, to develop financial models for informing decision-making in bid situations, and advising customers on value for money solution and new business models

Relationships management:

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, partners and clients to enhance bid success and foster long-term collaboration positioning EQUANS as a subject matter export with affordable housing providers, higher education and the wider public sector, including:
    • Speaking at conferences, and discussions about project opportunities with specific customers/external and internal partners
    • Lead and partner with internal teams to ensure a successful client collaboration including engaging new clients
    • Support rapid business growth in the delivery of Decarbonisation Projects
    • Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Bring to the role existing relationships across the sector, solidifying and utilising these to collaborate on bids and deliver projects through consortium work with regional and local authorities, commercial and industry partners
  • Engage with central and local government on policy, regulation and market reforms to understand the upcoming developments and proposals and be in a position to influence and react, shifting business development to align
  • Work with wider team to place EQUANS as a trailblazer within the sector, identifying potential leads, building relationships and securing new business

 Operations:

  • Ensure that relevant project and transaction teams are briefed, targeted and led to achieve specific operational objectives including programme
  • Manage internal and external project team members to establish, implement and monitor relevant project performance, budgets, controls and risk mitigations
  • Support the procurement and management of multi-disciplined teams / consortiums of internal and external consultants and stakeholders
  • Support the progression of projects through governance processes in line with project programmes.
  • Ensure and validate the provision and collation of detailed information to support the delivery of the decarbonisation of place strategies at key project stages
  • Lead and develop compelling innovation bids and business cases aligned with local priorities, reflecting the values of place-based decarbonisation and leveraging in broader outcomes e.g., social value, public health, energy security, energy efficiency, fuel poverty etc.
  • Track and map upcoming government, private, and international funding sources for innovation developing a pipeline of projects for the future.

Develop business competency

  • Develop understanding of market demand and need:

    • Lead in understanding R&D being undertaken, its applicability to our customers and how to bring applicable elements of it into EQUANS

Qualifications or Required Experience:

  • Proven track record in developing and winning innovation driven bids.
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in relevant theme like Engineering, Energy and sustainability.
  • Chartered status is preferable

We have a great opportunity for a Material Controller to support our growing Connected Cities business which focuses on street and highways lighting infrastructure projects across the UK.

Role overview:

 

The Material Controller is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate management of materials throughout the supply chain process.

This includes overseeing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Key activities: 

  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records, track material usage, and conduct regular physical inventory counts to ensure data accuracy
  • Oversee the receiving, storing, and issuing of materials in a timely and organized manner, ensuring proper storage conditions and minimizing waste or loss
  • Work closely with procurement, ordering materials
  • Documentation: Ensure all material transactions are properly documented in the inventory management system, including receipts, transfers, and shipments
  • Quality Control: Inspect materials upon arrival for quality and quantity, and manage any discrepancies or defects in collaboration with the quality assurance team
  • Reporting: Generate regular inventory and material usage reports for management, highlighting any issues or potential improvements in material handling and storage
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines for material storage and handling, and ensure that all team members follow these protocols
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve material control processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency within the supply chain
  • Must continuously balance the need for adequate stock levels against the risk of overstocking. This requires careful analysis of demand forecasts, lead times, and production schedules to ensure materials are available when needed without tying up excess capital in inventory

  • Experience in material control, inventory management, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Forklift licence

BMS Pre-Commissioning Engineer

Equans is looking for a Pre-Commissioning Engineer within our Equans Digital business unit providing Smart Building / IoT solutions within the public and private sector.

Smart buildings currently deliver project works ranging from £10k - £1.5m in singular size + variations via an evolving blend of inhouse delivery supplemented by a selection of specialist supply chain partners. With an aggressive growth strategy over the next 3 – 5 years, this role will be paramount in helping to define shape and grow the team to ensure we grow sustainably.

Key activities

  • Support the pre commissioning and the installation of BEMS and control systems in line with customer design requirements and those outlined by the Project Engineer / Commissioning Engineer, within agreed timescales.
  • Support and maintain a collaborative working environment with internal & external customers and stakeholders including the more junior resources that may require buddying support
  • Validate the software strategies and graphics created by the dedicated applications resource
  • Set up baseline wiring to points, material installation & checks / balances before we turn a panel live
  • Provide technical support to other trades and sub-contractors
  • Carry out trouble shooting to diagnose system defects.
  • Involvement with customer’s validation processes and execution as part of Commissioning works and Project handover procedures
  • Maintaining cleanliness to ensure health and safety standards on-site
  • Accurately report progress to the Project Engineer to maintain communicational commitments

Skills, qualifications & experience

 

  • Will need solid experience operating as a pre commissioning Engineer within the BEMS & Building Controls industries in the UK marketplace with strong technical understanding of industry leading systems including Siemens, Trend, Tridium systems as a minimum.
  • You’ll also have experience in pre-commissioning BEMS and Control systems of Siemens PX range, Trend IQ4 range of controls and / or Tridium.
  • You’ll have experience of Siemens Desigo CC and Trend IQ Vision including full integration of M-Bus, Modbus, Bacnet protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills and report writing are essential to maintain strong relationships with all team members and customers.
  • A recognised construction qualification (NVQ Level 5, HNC / HND or higher in a Construction, Infrastructure or engineering related discipline such as building, electrical and/or mechanical service)

Power Plant Technical Compliance Manager

Role summary

  • Coordinate mobilisation and stabilisation of new business / contracts

Performance Engineer

Equans Embedded Generation operates multiple customer sites with large-scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. We combine multiple technologies to meet our customers’ specific needs, and provide design, build, operate and maintenance services. Our skills and expertise can help industrial businesses to achieve their carbon reduction goals.

We are experts in many technologies, including combined heat and power (CHP), biomass, and energy from waste. By locating generation on customers’ sites we provide our customers with industry leading safety management, reduced energy costs and carbon footprint and assured energy security for their operational needs.

Key activities

 

The Plant Performance Engineer will be responsible for interpretation of plant design and plant operational data to monitor performance and identify performance shortfalls and improvement opportunities. The Performance Engineer will also provide guidance on management of installed assets on the various contracts/sites, advising the site teams on implementation of best practice to deliver continuous improvement in asset management and assisting the site teams in improving plant reliability, availability, and efficiency whilst minimising costs.

  • Provide support and expertise to improve plant performance, and root cause analysis of plant performance degradation.
  • Work with the team to deliver maximum efficiency from existing assets and scheme operation.
  • Assist with ongoing analysis of the energy schemes trends and performance, diagnosing problems and making recommendations.
  • Assist on delivering and implementing rectification plans to ensure that energy is delivered consistently and efficiently to meet contractual and financial requirements.
  • Assist with investment proposals for capital investment projects in system optimisation.
  • Carry out analysis that will improve current methodologies for tracking asset improvement projects savings.
  • Support on optimising the existing business energy data collection platforms and data transfer from meters via Automated Meter Reading (AMR) devices.
  • Review and support upgrade of existing CHPs and gas boilers process safety controls and control philosophy, including assets prioritisation use in the system.
  • Develop a plant performance reporting structure for routine reporting to the Divisional Leadership Team
  • Administer CHP QA and UK ETS for the divisional assets
  • Prepare contractual performance reports for submission to the Customer

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Motivated and professional engineer who wishes to commit to a role which will provide both opportunity and challenge
  • Qualified to a minimum 2:2 degree level in Mechanical, process or equivalent Engineering Discipline or equivalent proven experience.
  • Membership or working towards membership of an appropriate Engineering Institution.
  • Technical experience on some of the following: design and/or operation of energy schemes/centres, heating and cooling systems, CHPs, boilers, utilities, biomass power plants etc
  • High level of proficiency in data analysis using Excel etc.
  • Knowledge of the UK regulatory, energy and carbon policies would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication both verbal and written
  • Experience liaising with stakeholders and clients directly

Coordination Manager

Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide.

We have a great opportunity for a Coordination Manager to join our highly successful Energy Solutions business; primarily supporting our renewable energy projects. 

Our Energy Solutions business oversee major renewable EPC projects across the UK.  We design, install, commission and operate large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

Alongside our solar farm projects we are involved in delivering a wide range of energy solutions to secure a more sustainable future.

Key Activities:

  • Liaising with key all areas of the Energy team (Operations, Procurement, Commercial, Engineering/Commissioning) from design through to construction and commissioning across all major and minor projects, to establish and monitor responsibilities, specifications, and quality of all deliverables.
  • Liaising with Contractors to instruct required content, format, and schedule of their deliverables. Ensuring Contractors deliver scope of works as per the agreed contract terms with regards to quality and addressing any defects. Receiving support from the Commercial team when required.
  • Liaising with Clients to ensure document and quality requirements are achieved and to ensure that Client requirements remain in line with the contract
  • Creating Quality, and Documentation Programme (sometimes known as PAC or project ‘close out’), to be integrated with the main project programme. Ensuring that suitable deadlines and reasonable Client requirements are agreed during contract negotiations and included in the project contract.
  • Conducting meetings, communicating requirements, allocating responsibilities, and managing individuals, to the agreed dates of delivery.
  • Specifying requirements of deliverables, based on experience from previous projects, Client requirements, and input from technical staff.
  • Ensuring that Equans personnel and contractors produce the deliverables as required.
  • Implement quality control procedure across all Energy schemes, including but not limited to ‘inspection test procedure’
  • Recording budget and liaising with the commercial team for quality control and documentation process through project close out process. Allocating resources across project stages within budget requirements and provide data on spend for use in future project pricing and planning.
  • Overseeing all Energy project deliveries document control including but not limited to; numbering, revision control, storage, and distribution of documents.
  • Overall control and responsibility of document and quality control platform and implementation across the Energy Division of Bouygues Energies & Solutions.
  • Reviewing deliverables for content and quality in relation to agreed requirements and general quality standards, in conjunction with technical staff.
  • Tracking and distributing/actioning Client comments as necessary, instructing and obtaining updated deliverables as required, and providing responses to comments and updated deliverables to Client.
  • Reporting on overall quality and project ‘close out’ performance against targets, and lessons learned, for business improvement on future projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Document & Quality Management experience within an engineering or construction industry sector
  • Strong understanding of Engineering, Procurement & Construction project lifecycles, and how Document Management contributes to the successful execution of projects
  • Experienced in use of Autodesk Construction Cloud software
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of document, data & information management practices and procedures
  • Collaborative skills and experience in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes and supporting tools, technologies and standards, including ISO 19650

Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join the Energy Engineering team in the development of innovative renewable energy and retrofit efficiency projects. This role will report to the Senior Electrical Design Engineer, supporting the continued growth in our engineering and design function in light of our expanding pipeline of work.

The Electrical Design Engineer will contribute in the preparation of electrical design elements of multidisciplinary projects from RIBA 1 to 4, as well as provide technical assurance during construction. These projects will typically range in value from £1m to £5m an encompass virtually all forms of renewable energy technologies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in electrical engineering, spanning conventional building services, infrastructure and renewable energies. The candidate will be conversant with modern design tools, such as Amtec, AutoCAD and REVIT, as well as key design standards, regulations and codes of practice. The successful candidate will aid in creative, innovative solutions to meet the diverse needs and ambitions of our projects.

Key activities

  • The Electrical Design Engineer will be dedicated and committed to delivering designs on time, on budget, satisfy project requirements and achieve compliance.
  • Will involve collaborative teamwork with adjoining engineering disciplines and colleagues.
  • Ability to take a Project Brief, potentially from pre-concept stage, identify design options and select the best available technique, through rigorous qualitative and quantitative assessment.
  • Develop robust yet efficient designs in unique project environments with immovable deadlines
  • Liaise with Statutory Authorities, including Distribution Network Operators, to obtain relevant consents
  • Work within internal and external design teams to achieve of deliverable

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (or equivalent qualification)
