Apprentice Building Services Engineering Service and Maintenance Engineer L3

EQUANS is looking for an Apprentice Building Services Engineering Service and Maintenance Engineer (L3)  to join our team in Whitehall on a 4 year, fixed term contract, full time basis. What will you deliver? 

The purpose of this role is to allow an individual to be trained in the relevant skills required to operate and maintain relevant plant and equipment.

Carry out operational and / or maintenance work within the scope of their specialised discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical or Control and Instrumentation). Note that all work carried out by the individual shall be closely supervised by an appointed Mentor and be within the individual’s capability

Reporting to the EQUANS Maintenance Manager, the Craft Apprentice shall undertake the role with Mentor supervision, maintaining a flexible approach, focussing on the needs of the Client and effectively following the quality processes and procedures put in place, including pro-actively identifying areas for improvement.

The main point of contact shall be the allocated Mentor. However, the Craft Apprentice shall be required to interact professionally with a range of EQUANS and Client personnel. The degree of this interaction will depend on the nature of their work.

  • Assist in undertaking preventative, predictive and emergency maintenance work in order to meet plant reliability and performance targets
  • Support others in fault diagnosis and repairs as necessary always ensuring a high level of General Safety
  • Assist in creating and maintaining high quality records and reports of maintenance activities to deliver useful plant history data which complies with all relevant statutory requirements
  • Ability to work in a customer focused environment where quality and image is very important
  • Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of workmanship and safety
  • Understanding of company procedures
  • Pro-active approach to SHEQ and identifying areas for improvement

Who are we looking for? 

 

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics, English and Science – to Grade C or above plus any other relevant subject to make a minimum of 4 (ideally a craft, design, technology, metalwork or woodwork related subject)
  • Basic knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety legislation and its impact on day-to-day operations
  • A simple understanding of the processes and systems required to develop and maintain a high standard of work quality.
  • Good IT Skills having experience in operating a range of Systems including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good basic understanding of scientific and mathematical related principles
  • Work experiences at similar locations or other industrial work experience shall be beneficial.

Head of Design and Estimating

Equans is looking for a Head of Design and Estimating to join our EV Charging Solutions business the role will be home based with some additional national travel. What will you deliver?

  • The role will have management responsibility for a Surveyor and Bid coordinators.

  • Demonstrate experience of estimating project costs, and presenting high quality tender documents to customers
  • Demonstrate IT literacy capability for software applications such as AUTOCAD, Intellect (accounts) plus full literacy with Microsoft Office suite. Incl. MS Project
  • Demonstrate experience and competency with PDA and mobile telephone software and applications.
  • Demonstrate experience of managing/supporting/coaching a team of people to deliver quality projects to stakeholders.

The Commercial Assistant positions primary role is to be the link between procurement tender evaluation, ensuring the lessons learned from active contracts are being taken into account in the tender stage. Managing the process through the contract execution, receiving support from the wider commercial team, procurement, operations, engineering/design and legal.

Key activities 

  • Procurement liaison from tender evaluation through to contract execution and project delivery

Battery Storage Project Manager

Carbon Solutions Engineer

EQUANS are recruiting for a Carbon Solutions Engineer to be based in Gateshead. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

To have experience of designing projects from concept ‘as design’ and unbuilt developments to retrofitting installations on both domestic and commercial ASHP and GSHP installations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Experienced and comfortable with both the electric and heating/mechanical aspects of the installations.
  • Develop and take responsibility for the delivery of detailed technical solutions, with a right first approach.
  • You will be responsible for the whole design lifecycle of each of your projects from full design/utilising consultants through to specification and sign off of each installation.
  • You will be required to carry out site visits and surveys for prospective installations of domestic and commercial installations.
  • You will be familiar with a range of technology manufacturers.
  • Work will be designing and signing off sustainable measures and installations and as such you will be familiar with full heat loss calculations
  • You will be responsible to produce tender, pricing and design packages. Identify key design and project dependencies. Yow will recommend and drive optimal solutions and strategies to ensure designs are delivered to scope, time, cost and quality criteria.
  • Support the operation teams and provide technical evaluations of sub-contractor and supplier offerings.
  • You will have experience and working knowledge of dealing with District Network Operators.
  • You will be comfortable working alone as well as a team and will be reporting directly to the Senior Carbon Solutions Engineer.
  • Represent the company at progress and client meetings, providing technical guidance and input and present at a level that the entire audience will understand.
  • Assist the operational and project teams to effectively commission and optimise the operational efficiency of new and existing heating schemes.
  • Communicate and present to client’s design proposals and ensure client requirements are achieved. 
  • The ability to accept delegated tasks and responsibilities to assist the operation and management of the department.
  • The responsibility for attending major project kick-off meetings, leading the projects forward and briefing supporting engineers.
  • To lead, monitor, set tasks and objectives to design colleagues to ensure a robust, accurate and viable design proposals are delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
