Junior Project Development Manager
EQUANS is looking for a Junior Product Development Manager to join our team in London (E15) on a permanent, full time basis. On offer is a competitive salary of up to £40,000, dependant on experience and benefits package.
The Equans district energy business unit has over 30 years’ experience designing, installing, operating, maintaining and funding city centre scale energy systems which provide cost and carbon savings to end-customers. We operate seven city centre scale schemes across the country with ambitions to work in partnership locally to achieve expansion, decarbonisation and optimisation to drive forward the transition to net zero in local areas and communities. We also provide metering and billing, and O&M services to developers and managing agents. District energy is widely seen to be a key component of the energy transition in the dense urban environment, helping to keep energy bills affordable whilst accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels. This is an exciting time for the district energy market and for Equans with the challenge of scaling growth with decarbonising existing energy supplies.
A Junior Project Development Manager (JPDM) is responsible for supporting the wider business development team to secure new connections to our existing schemes. Initiating or responding to initial client contact, JPDMs are adept at identifying and prioritising good opportunities, developing effective client relationships and driving forward concept designs, commercial discussions and financial modelling to enable attractive connection offers to be made in accordance with client needs.
What will you deliver?
- Support the Project Development Managers and Development Director to secure budgeted connections, working closely with internal engineering, commercial, finance, projects and design teams.
- Develop, manage and present decentralized energy infrastructure projects from initial engagement and concept design through to contract close and handover to Delivery, using established gateway processes.
- Develop a consistent approach to project and programme management, supporting the team to manage governance, client, and internal reporting.
- Use standard metrics and rules of thumb to appraise opportunities and quickly filter out opportunities that would struggle to meet client need or internal requirements.
- Lead internal teams to develop solutions, product offers and costed proposals which exceed client expectations.
- Develop and own compelling proposal documents and presentation packs for prospect opportunities for all schemes.
- Manage Salesforce/CRM entries for individual deals, producing monthly dashboards and sales prospects summary for regular reporting to senior management, highlighting any programme risks / slippage.
- Completion of gateway and governance stages and managing associated RAG assessment with projects.
- Develop, own and update risk registers from kick off to contract close, ensuring risks are identified early and mitigated effectively.
- Develop a consistent approach to trackers and pipelines for each scheme which will align to Salesforce, budgets and MTPs.
- Develop comprehensive case studies that can be used as an easy access resource and update regularly.

Project Manager

Manage the safe and profitable delivery of both public and workplace EV charging infrastructure through sub-contractors, EV Chargepoint manufacturers and supply chain.

What will you deliver?
- Ensure the health and safety of the team and sub-contractors is closely monitored and full compliance with Equans Management System

Sustainability Manager

General Overview
The main purpose of the role is to raise regional profile of energy solutions, including the development of Zero Carbon roadmaps for key client challenges., identifying and working up proposals for clients and consultants with a view to securing profitable Energy Solution offerings. Adhering to regional growth targets for the Sustainability division of the region. Providing guidance to the business on environmental and sustainability issues. This will include extensive working with different departments and teams, providing support and guidance on environment and sustainability issues. To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure all employees reporting to you do the same and being responsible for ensuring that SHEQ requirements are upheld to the highest of standards at all times.
Key Accountabilities
- Raise regional profile as a leading provider of Sustainability Solutions - Equans regional partners, sustainability leads to develop ‘Sustainability Solutions’’ that meets the needs/ wants of our customers and colleagues. Create effective partnerships and programs to increase the effectiveness and visibility of our Business Unit’s sustainability work. Find & Secure Profitable Pipeline– Identify, develop and secure funding offerings to secure workload with key partners in the region.
- Develop return on investment models to deliver internal contribution and client value.
- Define and identify a structure capable of delivering/supporting a £35M revenue steam (5 Years). Development and management of departmental Key Performance Indicators.
- Lead sustainability behavior and cultural change at Equans NW engaging staff to participate in sustainability initiatives. Motivate and engage colleagues to ensure a collaborative culture consistent with Equans and Client's values. Work with the senior management of business to ensure that sustainability and environmental management are embedded within the organisation.
- Provide and receive information of complex nature relating to energy management, carbon reduction, sustainability and governance matters
- Develop relationships and partnerships with sustainability stakeholders, influencers and Clients.
- Drive forward innovation- promote V Charge and community heating schemes to all clients including full operational delivery.
- Technical Sustainability Support to Region – Covering both new build and refurbishment activities in the region.

Essential
- At least 5 years operational and management experience within the social housing or Local Authority organisation. Experience of sustainability and environmental management, including best and common practice Comprehensive understanding of current and proposed UK sustainability related legislation to project solutions (Building regulations, Local Planning Policy, Zero Carbon and any future regional plans).
- Understanding of the principles of Building Physics as relating to the fabric of existing buildings and the potential consequences of retrofit energy efficiency measures.

Operations Manager
EQUANS are recruiting for an Operations Manager to be based within the Urban Energy Team in London. This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
As Operations Manager you will form a vital part of the management team. You will provide inspired leadership and maintain good quality standards for the productivity and efficiency of the organisation. EQUANS is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in the UK on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £46,000 to £58,500, bonus and benefits package.
A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is sought to join the Design Team of EQUANS Urban Energy. The team undertakes the design of district heating and cooling networks throughout the UK. The team has the capability to design energy centres, pre-insulated buried piping networks, heat pumps and plant room heat exchanger assemblies.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position is characterised by the ownership of projects to develop district networks, including multi-disciplinary design coordination with both internal and external stakeholders. The role includes the technical oversight and management responsibility for a small number of Mechanical and Buried Network Design engineers.
What will you deliver?
- The design of district network schemes and energy centres, including buried piping systems, energy centres, boilers, CHP units, thermal stores, plate heat exchanger assemblies, pumps, chillers, heat pumps and auxiliary systems.
- Technical oversight of the work of a small number of design engineers.
- Management responsibility for a small number of design engineers.
- The use of CAD packages in the creation of engineering drawings.
- The production of tender scopes, specifications, bills of materials and engineering calculations.
- Technical support and design coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including business development and project managers, contractors, clients and design consultants.

Carbon Solutions Engineer

General Overview
To have experience of designing projects from concept ‘as design’ and unbuilt developments to retrofitting installations on both domestic and commercial ASHP and GSHP installations.
Key Accountabilities
- Experienced and comfortable with both the electric and heating/mechanical aspects of the installations.
- Develop and take responsibility for the delivery of detailed technical solutions, with a right first approach.
- You will be responsible for the whole design lifecycle of each of your projects from full design/utilising consultants through to specification and sign off of each installation.
- You will be required to carry out site visits and surveys for prospective installations of domestic and commercial installations.
- You will be familiar with a range of technology manufacturers.
- Work will be designing and signing off sustainable measures and installations and as such you will be familiar with full heat loss calculations
- You will be responsible to produce tender, pricing and design packages. Identify key design and project dependencies. Yow will recommend and drive optimal solutions and strategies to ensure designs are delivered to scope, time, cost and quality criteria.
- Support the operation teams and provide technical evaluations of sub-contractor and supplier offerings.
- You will have experience and working knowledge of dealing with District Network Operators.
- You will be comfortable working alone as well as a team and will be reporting directly to the Senior Carbon Solutions Engineer.
- Represent the company at progress and client meetings, providing technical guidance and input and present at a level that the entire audience will understand.
- Assist the operational and project teams to effectively commission and optimise the operational efficiency of new and existing heating schemes.
- Communicate and present to client’s design proposals and ensure client requirements are achieved.
- The ability to accept delegated tasks and responsibilities to assist the operation and management of the department.
- The responsibility for attending major project kick-off meetings, leading the projects forward and briefing supporting engineers.
- To lead, monitor, set tasks and objectives to design colleagues to ensure a robust, accurate and viable design proposals are delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
