Mobile BMS Service and Commissioning Engineer

We have a great opportunity for a BMS Service and Commissioning Engineer to support our Smart Buildings business based out of our Birmingham office, the role will involve supporting sites across parts of the UK.

Role overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated BMS Service and Commissioning Engineer to join our dynamic team in the UK. The ideal candidate will specialise in the installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of Building Management Systems (BMS), with a strong focus on Trend, Tridium, and Distech systems. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent customer service.

Smart buildings currently deliver project works ranging from £10k - £1.5m in singular size + variations via an evolving blend of inhouse delivery supplemented by a selection of specialist supply chain partners. With an aggressive growth strategy over the next 3 – 5 years, this role will be paramount in helping to define shape and grow the team to ensure we grow sustainably.

Key activities:

Perform initial startup, testing, and commissioning of BMS systems, including hardware and software configurations specific to Trend, Tridium, and Distech platforms
You will develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules, ensuring all systems function as per the design specifications and client requirements
Will conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning activities such as verification, calibration, and functional testing of sensors, controllers, and other BMS components
Validate system performance against project specifications and design documents, identifying and rectifying any issues during the commissioning phase, and preparing detailed commissioning reports, including test results, punch lists, and as-built documentation will be part of your routine tasks
You will maintain comprehensive records of commissioning activities and outcomes
Will be required to conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of BMS systems to ensure smooth and efficient operation, scheduling and performing preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend system lifespan
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to BMS hardware and software, performing system diagnostics, and implementing corrective actions to address malfunctions are key aspects of this role
Will also perform regular system updates and backups, ensuring all BMS documentation, including schematics, user manuals, and software versions, is up-to-date, and implement system upgrades and enhancements as needed
Assisting with the installation of BMS equipment, including wiring, controls, and peripheral devices, ensuring correct placement and integration of sensors, controllers, and actuators, and working closely with installation teams to ensure proper system integration and configuration are crucial responsibilities
Will coordinate with electrical and mechanical contractors to facilitate seamless installation processes

Skills, qualifications & experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications and equivalent experience may be considered.
Solid experience in BMS commissioning, service, and maintenance.
Proven experience with Trend, Tridium, and Distech BMS platforms.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and building automation.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and control diagrams.
Familiarity with network protocols and communication systems used in BMS.
Experience with programming and configuring BMS software and hardware components specific to Trend, Tridium, and Distech systems.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Relevant BMS certifications (e.g., Trend, Tridium, Distech) are highly desirable.
Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various client sites within the UK as needed

Project Handover Coordinator

Our highly successful renewable energy business has a great opportunity for a Project Handover Engineer, the role will involve managing the handover of projects to clients by coordinating the completion of activities and the collation, quality control and handover of the output documentation.

Currently we have projects covering the Midlands, Yorkshire, Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. The role can be based at one of the following offices; Manchester, Cambridge, London Waterloo, Welwyn or Sittingbourne. However the role will require travel and thus accommodation and other necessary support will be provided when working away from home.

Key activities:

Create a programme of all activities and documentation required for project handover.
Liaise with project team members (Project Managers, Quality personnel etc.) to agree required outputs from activities in advance, and the expected dates.
Monitor and manage the delivery of the agreed outputs, investigating and rescheduling any late items.
Track and report progress (%age completion) of each project’s handover pack.
Liaise with Client to ensure Client satisfaction with content and quality of handover pack as it is planned and delivered.
Collaborate with the team’s Document Control staff to ensure the progressive upload of handover documentation throughout the project up until final handover.
Ensure that all relevant contractual requirements are met by the contents of the handover pack.
Expedite and coordinate Client comments and ensure that required updates to handover documentation are incorporated, and the documentation re-transmitted.
To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans.

Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join the Energy Engineering team in the development of innovative renewable energy and retrofit efficiency projects. This role will report to the Senior Electrical Design Engineer, supporting the continued growth in our engineering and design function in light of our expanding pipeline of work.

The Electrical Design Engineer will contribute in the preparation of electrical design elements of multidisciplinary projects from RIBA 1 to 4, as well as provide technical assurance during construction. These projects will typically range in value from £1m to £5m an encompass virtually all forms of renewable energy technologies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in electrical engineering, spanning conventional building services, infrastructure and renewable energies. The candidate will be conversant with modern design tools, such as Amtec, AutoCAD and REVIT, as well as key design standards, regulations and codes of practice. The successful candidate will aid in creative, innovative solutions to meet the diverse needs and ambitions of our projects.

Key activities

The Electrical Design Engineer will be dedicated and committed to delivering designs on time, on budget, satisfy project requirements and achieve compliance.
Will involve collaborative teamwork with adjoining engineering disciplines and colleagues.
Ability to take a Project Brief, potentially from pre-concept stage, identify design options and select the best available technique, through rigorous qualitative and quantitative assessment.
Develop robust yet efficient designs in unique project environments with immovable deadlines

We have a great opportunity for a Document Controller to join our highly successful Energy business; primarily supporting our renewable energy projects.

Key Activities

Receipt and issue of project documentation within the CDE
Check incoming documentation for correct numbering, naming, revision & status details
Process documents through project review workflows
Create and maintain CDE folder structures and workflows
Ensure sharing/transmittal of documents to clients and subcontractors

The Energy and Carbon Solutions (ECS) consulting division provides an initial engagement that helps shape our new and existing client’s operational plans to deliver their net zero objectives. What will you deliver?

The Solutions Consultant will have the primary focus of delivering professional consultative services in low carbon and energy solutions that enable net zero transitions for our clients in the Public and private sectors.

Under the leadership of a Senior Solutions Manager, the Solutions Consultant will support the consulting team to effectively manage opportunities from conception through handover to the EQUANS project delivery divisions. They will support the ECS management team in delivering technically excellent work, building client relationships, forming effective partnerships with external consultants, suppliers, and partners – ultimately supporting the overall technical and commercial solution presented to clients.

Supporting effective team and project management, including project completion timelines, project costs and profitability, and ensuring client needs are met.

Operations Manager

Equans is looking for a Operations Manager to join our Embedded Energy business the role will be based in Redcar overseeing the operation of a major energy centre. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

Reporting directly to the Technical Compliance and Operations Support Manager the post holder will lead a small team working day shifts with a one week in three callout rota. The Operations Manager will be responsible for flexible and reliable operation of the steam-generating plant within the energy centre, including boilers, water treatment plant, steam compressors and ancillary equipment in line with host site requirements and site procedures, and maintaining compliance with statutory health, safety and environmental provisions.

The Operations Manager will have specific duties and will be involved in working with and improving the site systems as well as having responsibility for the site operations and maintenance activities on a day-to-day basis. The Operations Manager will also produce weekly documentation to report on KPI’s to the customer and manage the day-to-day budgetary spend.

Key activities

Lead site technicians for operations, maintenance, project work and outage preparation activities.
Operate the plant to ensure compliance with appropriate safety and environmental standards, and statutory requirements including BG01
Carry out plant-related routine duties to ensure plant performance, availability and reliability are maintained to a high level.
Manage the legislative maintenance activities on-site, including ensuring that PSSR inspection requirements are undertaken, Functional Safety proof tests are carried out, Legionella management, and ensure that statutory routines are programmed and carried out in line with the maintenance plan.
Plant & control system first line fault diagnosis and reporting.
General day-to-day management of the operations and maintenance technicians on site.
Responsibility for producing weekly reports and reporting to Engie’s customer.
Responsibility for producing and maintaining identified site documentation and procedures
Manage safety and emergency response plans for to COMAH regs standard.
Liaise with internal and external customers.
Maintain a professional attitude, an appropriate level of communication and courteous behavior to all colleagues, host site personnel, contractors, and visitors to the Energy Centre.

Mobile BMS Service Engineer

Equans is looking for a Mobile BMS Engineer to join our Smart Buildings business, covering parts of Cambridgeshire on a permanent, full-time basis.

Smart Building have a very exciting opportunity to deliver critical Building Management System (BMS) Infrastructure upgrades / enhancements across a number of commercial, retail, healthcare, education & government sectors - across the country. In doing so we naturally prime the sites to become ‘Smart enabled’, meaning we can then introduce further value across sites via our IoT solutions; driving social, economic and environmental benefits to portfolios of sites and more importantly people operating and living within them.

Key activities:

The role of Service Engineer will include carrying out a number of tasks on contracted customer sites, including PFI Schools, PFI Hospitals, Government Estates and MOD sites. Your day to day will include:

Install, configure, and commission BMS components and equipment, including sensors, controllers, actuators, and software systems.
Carry out maintenance checks on Trend, Tridium and Distech BMS’s on our various sites.
Reactive call out rota will be worked (additional financial benefit included for being on call and attending)
Provide technical assistance and support to clients regarding their BMS systems.
Identify opportunities for improvement/remedial works to improve the performance of the BMS’s for our clients.
Prepare proposals and quoting of works as required.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

City & Guild / BTEC / NVQ Electrical.
Extensive knowledge & experience of BMS / HVAC.
Knowledge & experience with Trend, Tridium Controls/Niagara/Distech/Siemens.
Excellent working knowledge of the electrical industry.
Ability to read and interpret Electrical & Mechanical schematic diagrams.
Understanding of IT networks.
Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Full UK driving licence.
Controls training / experience.
Experience with fault finding in electrical panels.
Report writing skills.

Senior Solutions Manager

EQUANS is looking for a Senior Solutions Manager to join our team on a full time, permanent and hybrid basis. The candidate can be based anywhere in Britain, however they must be willing to go to either Manchester or London for Team meetings. On offer is a competitive salary banding of £60,000 - £80,000, company vehicle or allowance and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

Accountabilities

Supporting effective team and project management, including project completion timelines, project costs and profitability, and ensuring client needs are met
Delivering technical reports and energy audits as part of the solution development process
Proactively building client relationships to maintain a strong repeatable pipeline
Supporting in the training of new starters
Compliance with EQUANS governance processes
Provide Industry thought leadership and representing the ECS Team at Industry events.

Operations and Solutions Achievement - This is a highly technical position requiring engineering thinking and problem solving to a high degree. The role also requires complex analytical and commercial thinking and will support the development of the client deliverables to agreed timescales and quality standards.

Undertaking energy audit activities, development, engineering, and conceptual design of energy projects
Develop complex and dynamic numerical models of engineering and commercial aspects of energy project feasibility
Ensure compliance with EQUANS quality assurance processes including peer and management review
Communicate with all stakeholders to brief on submissions as they progress
Lead in delivering profitability and revenue delivery targets for each engagement through proactive time management and efficiency in delivery
Articulate the key risks and benefits of the opportunity to key stakeholders
Working with commercial and finance teams to develop profitable and compelling outcomes
Providing subject matter expertise and continuity of support to the energy and carbon solution projects that are handed over to the divisional projects team

Sales Achievement – develop low carbon and energy solutions opportunities through the sales process, including:

Actively maintain a strong knowledge on EQUANS, industry, client, sector and competitor trends
Providing thought leadership on behalf of EQUANS to our clients and represent EQUANS at events
Work with a variety of internal teams (Sustainable FM, Digital & Energy Services, Places & Communities) to research and analyse prospective opportunities, markets, and propositions
Lead the development of collateral, case studies and other sales materials
Participate in marketing campaigns and events

Who are we looking for?

Deep technical knowledge of implementing energy solutions, and a firm understanding of building, commercial or industrial and manufacturing engineering services

Energy related engineering or applied science degree
At least 5-8 years of applicable energy and carbon experience with strong interpersonal, leadership, and time management skills.
Demonstrated technical and commercial modelling depth in two or more disciplines decarbonisation of heat,
Renewable energy, o energy management and retrofit, industrial energy management & energy driven BMS, controls and analytics
Net zero carbon programme delivery
Confident and articulate in presenting technical and commercial cases to customers at management/decision maker level
Experience of presenting to organisations and individuals, both orally and in writing, information and complex technical issues and potential solutions in a clear and concise manner
Problem resolution and critical thinking skills
Capacity to mobilise and engage people, capacity to develop and leverage your network
Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and matrix management organisations on major projects and programmes
Excellent understanding of the energy, climate change and/or the sustainability sector Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
Self-motivated, resourceful, able to work, succeed and maintain energy without constant direction and guidance
A passion for accelerating the net zero agenda

Desirable

Masters degree in an energy related engineering
Experience of and strong interest in contributing to sales proposals and marketing plans
Track record of successfully implementing innovation in products or services
Chartered Energy Engineer/Manager or on track and with ambition to achieve Knowledge of some of the regulatory environment
