Grounds Supervisor

Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Grounds Supervisor to join our Facilities Management team at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth. This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm.

The role:

Reporting to the Operations Manager
To supervise and assist with the maintenance of the hospital grounds to a professional standard, by means of litter and weed control, graffiti removal, and snow and ice removal
To oversee the day to day operations of the external Car Parking arrangements
Maintain close liaison with the Trust Facilities team members
Oversee the direct labour team and those of sub-contractors
Assist trade staff in maintenance, repair and installation / new works
To monitor and approve contractors’ work
Working 40 hours per week from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday

The person:

Must have supervisory experience and good people management skills
Strongly client focused, able to take ownership of projects/issues and resolve
Previous experience of grounds work is desirable
Excellent customer service skills and a high standard of work and attention to detail
Good organisation skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise work
Multi-skilled with a flexible, can-do approach
Familiar with Health & Safety procedures, manual handling and COSHH
A full driving licence is essential
Must be able to gain DBS clearance

Groundworker

EQUANS are recruiting for a Groundworker to be based in Oldham. This is a permanent full-time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary of £33,551 plus van & fuel card and benefits package.

General Overview

To carry out the duties as a Groundworker in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Company policies and Procedures. To assist the Team in producing a quality product meeting the requirements of the contract and in a safe manner. Adhere to all requirements set by SHEQ team, policy, and strategy.

Key Accountabilities

Carry out various Ground working tasks to a high standard as instructed by the company including:
- Flagging
- Blocked paving
- Tarmac
- Concreating
- Kerbs
- Excavations
- Footings
- Ramps

Assist with the adherence to the Company quality standards including:
- Compliance with specification
- Compliance with materials / workmanship schedules

High quality Customer Care must always act in a polite and professional manor.
Maintain and care for all company tools.
1^st time fix to be achieved wherever possible.

M&E Supervisor

We currently have an exciting new opportunity for an M&E Building Services Supervisor to support our multi-site Barking Schools contract where Equans provides total FM services at two secondary schools.

Key activities:

Supervise the M&E team to ensure all work is carried out to contract specification and client satisfaction
To undertake PPM and reactive works ensuring that all jobs are completed in line with SLA’s, KPI’s and CPI’s
To ensure the speedy and correct allocation of work so that jobs are completed in accordance with the performance monitoring system
Assist with the planning and organising of work for both direct and contract labour to ensure cost and time targets are met including allocating and controlling overtime organising out-of-hours emergency works
Order materials and services, maintain records, control stock, provide engineers reports, etc
Assist with estimates, site measurements and cost control information; to identify chargeable works and ensure these are properly recorded
Liaise with the client when required to resolve any issues
To organise and participate in the out of hours on-call rota
Working 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday

Skills, qualifications & experience:

Must hold a recognised electrical or mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical or mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
Must have supervisory experience and good people management skills (appraisals, training, recruitment, team briefings, )
Strong IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook; any experience with Maximo an advantage
Proven track record of maintenance/hard services within Facilities Management
Strongly client focused, able to take ownership of projects/issues and resolve
A proactive, flexible, can-do approach

Job Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fabric Engineer to provide essential mechanical support in maintaining three secondary schools within Peterborough. As part of our Operations team, you will play a key role in ensuring the upkeep and functionality of the building fabric, supporting the safe and efficient running of these facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform scheduled, planned, and reactive maintenance tasks on building fabrics, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors (including fire doors), and windows.
Carry out repairs to structural elements such as fixing cracks, leaks, and damaged surfaces.
Provide painting, plastering, and decorating services to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the buildings.
Undertake occasional installation and project works.
Maintain up-to-date trade knowledge and qualifications to ensure safe and efficient performance of duties.
Provide quotations for small works as required.
Use the Maximo CAFM system to manage workload effectively.
Ensure the prompt and accurate completion of associated paperwork.
Advise on parts and labour requirements for additional works, interfacing with suppliers and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
Oversee external contractors and escort them when required.
Participate in the on-call rota as part of a team.
Adhere to Health & Safety policies, ensuring compliance with all company policies, management plans, and procedures.

Core Skill Requirements:

Essential:

Understanding of maintenance requirements for building services and assets in a multi-site environment.
Knowledge of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work.
Full UK driving licence.
Enhanced DBS Certification required.

Desirable:

Formal qualifications up to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (carpentry or fabric-related trade).
Previous experience working on PFI contracts, preferably within an educational environment.
Understanding of Asset Maintenance and Lifecycle Works.
Asbestos Awareness.
Health & Safety / COSHH awareness.

Fabric Engineer

Equans is recruiting for a Fabric Engineer to be based at the Queen Alexandria Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £28,000 to £30,000 per annum depending on experience. In addition you will receive an excellent benefits package.

What will you deliver?

Support the Estates Management team in delivering 24-hour maintenance services.
Promote a culture of excellent customer service, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to address maintenance issues effectively.
Diagnose faults, repair, and maintain complex and specialised hospital equipment after suitable training.
Undertake a variety of building tasks, including carpentry, painting, fitting ironmongery, and flooring.
Actively participate in the Fabric Team on-call rota to ensure timely response to maintenance needs.
Work in challenging environments, including unblocking drains and sewers, which may involve exposure to biological hazards and noxious fumes.
Liaise with the Stores Team for requisition, supply, and security of materials.
Monitor and check the work of contractors to ensure compliance with standards.
Observe all relevant statutory requirements, particularly relating to the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH regulations, and Electrical IEE regulations.
Carry out work across multiple trades where necessary and within the scope of competence.
Carry a radio or pager to facilitate immediate response to urgent tasks.

Roofer

General Overview

To undertake the duties/responsibilities as a Roofer to the standards set out by the contract.

To attend all relevant training courses, including all health and safety
To work in accordance with any training and instructions given and bring to the attention of the employer any shortcomings and defects in the management systems and protective measures
To use protective equipment, substances and tools/equipment in accordance with instructions and training given
Assist with the adherence to the Company quality standards including:
Compliance with specification and SOR codes
Adherence to the sequence of events for each job on the PDA.
Ensure van stock is processed and managed accordingly
Ensure that your work is carried out the highest quality and within a reasonable amount of time.

General Overview

The Floor Tiler is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of various types of flooring within tenanted properties. This role involves preparing surfaces, laying flooring materials, and ensuring high-quality finishes that meet client specifications and industry standards. The Floor-layer must work efficiently, paying close attention to detail, and adhering to all safety regulations.

What will you deliver?

Prepare subfloors by cleaning, levelling, and smoothing surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of flooring materials.

Measure and cut flooring materials to fit specific areas, ensuring precise and accurate installation.

Fabric Operative - Carpenter

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Fabric Operative- Carpenter to join our facilities team at North Middlesex University Hospital in Edmonton. This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week from 8am to 5pm / 10am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, alternating weekly.

The role:

Reporting to the Operations Manager
Undertake or oversee all fabric works and elements of statutory compliance
Carry out all fabric duties such as carpentry, painting & decorating, replacing ceiling tiles and laying carpet tiles
To undertake PPM and reactive works to ensure that all jobs are completed
To immediately report any potentially dangerous situations
To order materials and services using ordering system and to update records and job sheets to certify satisfactory delivery/completion
Carry out and record all required compliance checks such as Water Hygiene checks in accordance with ACOP L8 and Fire Door checks in accordance with BM TRADA and others
To oversee specialist sub-contractors by escorting round the building and monitoring work
Working 40 hours per week, from 8am to 5pm / 10am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, alternating weekly.

The person:

Must hold a Fabric or Carpentry qualification to minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and be able to carry out general fabric repairs (doors and panels)
Will possess varied fabric skills, including fire doors checks/repairs, door panels/fire stopping repairs and shower accessory replacements
Experience working in a healthcare environment is desirable
Essential to have an understanding of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work
Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
Good understanding of Health & Safety
Understanding of the Maximo CAFM system is desirable
Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team; proactive, flexible, can-do attitude

Fabric Engineer

Job Title: Fabric Engineer

Are you an experienced Fabric Engineer with a passion for building maintenance? Join our dynamic team at EQUANS, where you'll play a key role in maintaining high-quality facilities and ensuring the smooth operation of our client sites. We are looking for a reliable and multi-skilled individual to take on this exciting opportunity.

About the Role:

As a Fabric Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of maintenance tasks, including planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs. You'll work on diverse tasks such as joinery, plumbing, painting, and tiling to ensure that all facilities are running efficiently and to the highest standard.

What You’ll Do:

PPM & Reactive Maintenance: Complete all statutory and non-statutory PPM in accordance with the Annual PPM planner, and respond to reactive calls for joinery, plumbing, painting, and other tasks as needed.
Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all site logbooks are updated with relevant information and certifications. Adhere to risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and complete all works to EQUANS’ quality procedures.
Team Collaboration: Supervise/escort subcontractors to ensure security procedures are followed and that they work safely.
Customer Service: Work closely with the Facilities team to ensure jobs are completed to customer satisfaction within the specified service level agreements (SLA).
Health & Safety: Maintain high standards of safety and sustainability in line with EQUANS’ policies and procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

Qualifications & Experience: Recognised industry qualifications (C&G/NVQ required), with experience in joinery, plumbing, or other related skills.
Desirable Qualifications: IPAF Powered Access Licence, PASMA, and First Aid certification (not essential but an advantage).
Skills & Competencies: Experience in building maintenance, plumbing, and multi-skilled tasks. Strong reporting and estimating skills for quotations.
Personal Attributes: Able to work independently or as part of a team, with a strong customer-focused approach. A professional and smart appearance is essential, as you will be the face of EQUANS when interacting with clients.

Multi skilled operative

Equans is looking for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team in Leeds, on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company van and benefits package.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Multi-Skilled Operative is responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance work on homes and properties. This role operates in a multi-skilled environment, delivering high standards of customer care and satisfaction. The operative ensures that all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard, often in a single visit.

What will you deliver?

Execute all types of repair, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks in a multi-skilled capacity.
Complete repairs and maintenance across various trade disciplines where competent.
Attend and complete repair appointments punctually and within target times, aiming for first-time resolution.
Ensure the safe use and condition of company tools, equipment, and fleet vehicles.
Diagnose necessary remedial work, organise appointments, and arrange required materials as needed.
Minimise disruption to customers' homes, maintaining cleanliness and tidiness during and after tasks.
Participate in the company's out-of-hours emergency repair and maintenance rota as required.
Ensure all work is completed to high standards and in line with client specifications and requirements.

Who are we looking for?

Level 2 Building Maintenance Multi-Trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations or equivalent.
Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
NVQ level 2 / City and Guilds qualifications in key trades (Plumbing, Carpentry, Plastering, Joinery etc)
Basic knowledge of Health & Safety regulations in Construction
Current valid driving license
Appropriate level of experience within building construction and repairs and maintenance.
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
