Mobile Plumber

Equans is looking for a Mobile Plumber to join our team in Birmingham. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, based on a two-week rotating shift pattern of 6am - 2pm & 10am - 6pm, Monday to Friday. There is also an on-call rota. On offer is a salary of up to £36,500 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience, a company vehicle and benefits package.
 

What will you deliver?

  • Carry out planned preventable maintenance (PPM) on plumbing, and all water systems; plant and equipment in accordance with the PPM programme
  • Respond in a timely manner to breakdown requests
  • Be proactive in reporting faults to equipment, buildings and fittings
  • Assist with installation works involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works
  • Work in accordance with Work Instructions, Safe Working Practices and Method Statements ensuring relevant paperwork is completed in an accurate timely manner
  • Safely operate all types of access equipment, hand and power tools in accordance with health & safety and manufacturers’ guidelines
  • Carry out on call duties as part of a rota

Shift Mechanical Engineer

Equans is looking for a Shift Mechanical Engineer to join our team working at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Smethwick. This is a full-time, permanent role working 40.25 hours per week, based on a shift pattern of four on four off, split into two days and two nights. On offer is a salary banding of £32,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience, plus a shift allowance of £3,000 per annum and benefits package.

The role is vital to ensure that the mechanical systems, equipment and plant within the estate are maintained to a high standard and that they can operate effectively to enable the Trust to deliver their services from a compliant and reliable facility. Successful completion of all assigned tasks and a conscientious approach will significantly contribute to the ability to retain the high quality of the facility to assist in ensuring healthcare can be delivered in an appropriate environment.
 

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
  • Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as specialist ventilation system, complex water systems and medical gas installations.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training
  • Minimise penalty deductions by responding in a timely manner to all maintenance issues in accordance with the requirements of the Contract
  • Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work across various sites, including fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) tasks, logging completion times and ensuring all required paperwork is up-to-date.
  • React quickly to breakdowns and plant failures, ensuring systems are restored to serviceable order.
  • Manage spare parts, providing parts lists and estimated timelines for any required remedial work.
  • Conduct risk assessments (POWRA) to ensure safe working practices, with a focus on health and safety regulations.
  • Operate a Permit to Work system, ensuring compliance with all safety requirements.
  • Work in collaboration with clients, subcontractors, and the team to maintain high standards of service.
  • Participate in the regional on-call rota, responding to breakdowns outside of standard working hours.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A recognised industry qualification (Electrical) is essential.
  • Strong experience in electrical systems maintenance, fault finding, and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, air handling units, pumps, and building management systems is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A clean UK driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and participation in an out-of-hours standby rota.

Mobile M&E Engineer

Equans is looking for a Mobile M&E Engineer to join our team in Isleworth for our HMCTS contract on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
To work as a Mechanical engineer with electrical qualification. This Role is to provide both reactive and planned maintenance task as well as replacements though minor works and lifecycle. The role is to maintain the HVAC systems. To manage the sites BMS. And to over see daily operational of cooling towers. 

Qualifications
Desirable to have an NVQ (or similar) in electrical and Mechanical studies.
Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made. 
Ensure that suitable consumables are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works. To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.
Ensure that all relevant paperwork/CAFM is completed regarding planned and reactive activities and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices.
To develop a good working relationship with all members of Equans staff, subcontractors and the client representatives.
Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To always include the wearing of uniform and PPE.
Ensure the professional image of Equans is presented to clients at all times
Ensure that all plant rooms under the responsibility of Equans are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site carrying out associated with electrical and all FM related tasks. 
To arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns.
To undertake lone working when and where required, subject to passing satisfactory training.
Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.
Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
Ensure CAFM system, e.g. Maximo, is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
To carry out any other task as directed by the account management team.
The position will require you to provide support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.

SHEQ
•Comply with requests for information from SHEQ manager
•Ensure you work to company health and safety policy
•Ensue PPE is safe to use
•Report accident and near misses in a timely manner
•Ensure your test equipment is within calibration 
•Ensure you follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works

Impact: 
Working to high standard of service, we require a fully reliable and competent Handyman/Fabric Tech who can work on own initiative, within a team or oversee subcontractor’s, producing good quality reports on their findings and work. The role will involve being the face of EQUANS so smart appearance and being able to discuss findings with others including customers is required.

Complexity:  
The successful candidate will have the ability to work unaided and build rapports with end users and customers, promoting EQUANS’ values. 
Have an excellent knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and/or painting/decorating techniques.
Have an eye for detail and be conscious of quality standards.

• Experienced fault-finding skills in BMS, LTHW systems, CLTHW systems, pumps, motors, HVAC, LV power systems, 
• Experience in working with Cooling towers (Desirable) 
• IPAF Certificated for 3a & 3b machines (Desirable)
• Experience in fault finding of BMS
• An understanding of the L8 ACOP 
• A robust understanding of Health and Safety is required.
• Knowledge of the Permit to Work system & experience issuing PTW (Desirable).
• To maintain effective communication with the customers at site level
• Always ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that may be required to support the account and the business in general.
• Be able to manage and prioritise the workload.
• Ensure compliance with contract KPIs and SLAs with the support of the Engineering Supervisor.
• Participation in the account out of hours call out service on a rota basis.

Electrical Supervisor

EQUANS is looking for an Electrical Supervisor to join our team in Dungeness, Kent on a permanent basis at EDF. This is a full time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:

We succeed by working with passion and by working together.  Equans are looking for an experienced and qualified Electrical Engineer with strong knowledge to supervise a team of electricians who are responsible for electrical and maintenance routines as well as identification and repair of faults on electrical building services.  You will be an integral part of the Equans Hard Services team based at Dungeness.

Impact:  
• Manage a team of Electricians, facilitating appropriate project work as well as repair to systems, plant or equipment to the required standard 
• Support the Hard Services Manager with day to day activities required to deliver work in line with the project plan including safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives
• Develop effective working relationships with appropriate parties
• Ability to accurately produce and analyse electrical technical drawings
• Manage time effectively to ensure tasks are handled accurately and on time ensuring a high standard of delivery to the business and client.

• Proven knowledge of Health & Safety legislation 
• Budget monitoring, commercial awareness and experience at managing contractors
• Previous work experience in the nuclear sector / industrial environment advantageous, specifically high voltage plant / equipment
• Proven ability in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Suitable relevant technical experience including the preparation of technical documentation, the review and approval of technical proposals and procedures, experience of construction, testing and commissioning activities
• Experience of supervising and setting contractors/sub-contractors to work in their roles and experience in leading a project team

Competencies:  
• Required to work as part of a team either leading or assisting in the performance of maintenance activities, installation and repair
• Experience to confidently diagnose faults, identifying spares and carry out the work efficiently
• Self-motivated and takes ownership of the work.
• Due to the complex nature of the site the team work to a strict maintenance instruction whereby a step by step method statement must be followed, failing to do this can cause a serious impact to plant and the safety of others so the post holder must be attentive and compliant at all times

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a water bias to join our team on an exciting and prestigious government facilities management contract in the heart of London. This is an incredible opportunity to work on a Grade II listed government office building*, HM Treasury/HMRC, where your expertise will directly impact the maintenance and operation of essential systems.

About the Role:
As a Mechanical Engineer with a water systems focus, you’ll be responsible for maintaining mechanical systems, including domestic and closed water systems, plumbing, air conditioning, pressure systems, and supporting the team with building fabric and electrical systems. You will be the first line of response for reactive maintenance and will perform routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks, ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards.

This is a site-based role where no two days will be the same! You’ll have the chance to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with exposure to a wide range of building systems and cutting-edge technologies. Working within the esteemed HM Treasury/HMRC, you will be a vital part of the team keeping this landmark building functioning smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems, focusing on plumbing, water systems, and air conditioning.
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of pressure systems.
  • Respond promptly to reactive tasks, diagnosing issues, sourcing parts, and ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Support the engineering team and liaise with subcontractors to ensure work is carried out to the highest standards.
  • Maintain compliance with the Approved Codes of Practice for all work carried out.
  • Ensure safety and quality are always a priority.

What We’re Looking For:

  • L8 qualified (Legionella Management).
  • City & Guilds or equivalent NVQ in Plumbing and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with building services and mechanical systems in a facilities management environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various teams.
  • 18th Edition Test & Inspection qualification is desirable.
  • A full clean driving licence.
  • Ability to gain CTC clearance if not already held.

Project Engineers - Mechanical

Equans Data Centers are seeking to appoint Project Engineers – Mechanical, to support our growing Data Centre business.

We are committed to providing cutting edge solutions for our clients Data Centre facilities and are recruitment Project Engineers – Mechanical to join our innovative team in projects based in the UK. The Project Engineers – Mechanical will be part of the team responsible for managing the construction aspects of large projects from inception to completion, within set timescales, to high quality standards and within health and safety guidelines.

What you will deliver?

  • Assist in ensuring that work is carried out in full conformance with quality, environmental and safety standards
  • Assist with co-ordinate and control the on-site construction process ensuring the site build progresses in line with plan
  • Liaise with Statutory Authorities and Local Authorities as directed by the Site Manager in the submission of all Building Regulation cards as required to allow the progress of the project
  • Attend site meetings, effectively communicate and provide information for Progress Reports
  • Chair and minute the subcontractor meetings in the absence of the Site or Project Manager
  • Assist the Site Manager in the management of materials
  • Record keeping (diary, drawing register, H&S, COSHH Assessments, As built drawings, Levels & Foundations records, site H&S file)
  • Assist in ensuring that work is carried out in full conformance with quality environmental and safety requirements
