Mechanical Technician

Equans is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our team at Fife Victoria Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. This is based on a shift pattern that includes working nights and weekends. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Provide delivery of Planned & Reactive maintenance activity of Mechanical resource, supporting Heating, Cooling, Domestic water systems & Equipment, in accordance with the Schedule of Programmed Maintenance
  • Ensure all Planned Maintenance works are completed within the target start and target completion timeframes
  • Ensure all Reactive Works are responded to and completed in line with contractual SLA’s
  • Ensure all Corrective & Remedial works are completed and duly recorded
  • Report all Corrective & Remedial works that need to be undertaken by other skillsets, or external contractors
  • Ensure that the integrity of the Critical systems is always achieved minimising downtime of assets
  • Correctly & Accurately utilise PDA to accurately record information, data and details relating to all works undertaken and accounting for working day
  • Complete all maintenance documentation (electronic and hard copy) ensuring full and accurate completion
  • Assess, compile, and create safety programmes relating to Mechanical and Medical Gas works in line with EQUANS Safe Systems of Work and SHTM 02-01 Undertaking the duties and responsibilities as Appointed Person within the relevant discipline. Issuing of Medical Gas permits as required
  • Issue Limitation of Access Permit to Contractors attending site outside of normal working hours, including working at height, hot works, etc.

Who are we looking for?

  • Completed an HNC or equivalent in mechanical installation/Repair or Pipework installation/repair on heating and cooling systems
  • Effective communication skills, and flexible attitude to work situations
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Excellent administrative and Software applications experience (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, PDA usage, etc)
  • Familiarity with the Healthcare sector, and day to day operation and maintenance of varying types of building/premises (Desirable)
  • Experience/Qualifications within a technical capacity relating to SHTM 02-01 Medical Gas or PSSR Appointed/Authorised Person and/or Competent Person (Desirable)

This role includes a DS Basic check therefore ability to pass is essential.

Boiler House Operative

Equans is looking for a Boiler House Operative to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis for our QEH contract. This is a full time role working 39 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
• The successful applicant must be a well organised individual who is self-motivating and flexible in their approach to work as they will form part of a small dynamic team.
• Must be reliable, polite, and discrete as the post holder will be in contact with medical staff, service users and the general public.
• Should the need arise the post holder will be expected to cover boiler house shifts duties at short notice to cover for annual leave and sickness.
• Have good communication skills as they will be in contact with the Help Desk via telephone, two-way radio, and hand-held PDAs.
• Will be expected to keep good clear written records of completed Planed Preventative maintenance and Reactive work orders.
• Help in planning and managing periodic and cyclic maintenance activities related to the boiler plant. This will require close working and liaison between the boiler operator and the estates management team

Impact:
The Boiler House is an essential element of the hospital complex, and it is essential that boilers are maintained to ensure services are delivered to the Trust.

Complexity:
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of planned preventative maintenance and responding to boiler house alarms and carrying out rectifications.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
• Experience of working within a boiler house environment preferred although onsite training will be provided.
• Be prepared to work towards obtaining a Boiler Operative Accreditation Scheme Qualification (B.O.A.S)
• Able to take a lead in planning and managing periodic and cyclic maintenance activities related to the boiler plant
• Good all-round maintenance knowledge
• Experience of operating steam generating plant and steam distribution systems preferred but not essential.
• Willing to undertake training to reach required standard needed to take on the role.

Decontamination Engineer

EQUANS are recruiting for a Decontamination Engineer to be based at the Queen Alexandria Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.   • Support in the provision of 24 hr maintenance services within the Hospital Estate

  • Carry out weekly process control testing and maintenance of all decontamination plant
  • Ranging for Automated Endoscope Reprocessers , Washer Disinfectors , Porous load Sterilizers , Small Load sterilizers , Ultrasonic Cleaners , Reverse Osmosis Plants & steam generators.
  • Be part of the shift pattern including day shifts, late shifts and 1 weekend in 4

Electrical Shift Engineer

Equans is looking for an Electrical Shift Engineer to join our team in Salford on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 38.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
EQUANS are recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join our existing team on the Media City Contract. This is a permanent full-time role working Shifts two days, two nights followed by four days off.

The Engineers primary role will be all-round engineering support, maintaining the building infrastructure. Have a detailed understanding of all new or current Building Services systems and contingency procedures within the buildings and complying with the Health & Safety/building codes of practice.
It is the Electrical Engineer’s role to act as a co-ordination point for the day-to-day activities on site between him or herself and the FM management team.
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all activities allocated to his shift are undertaken with a professional and conscientious outlook with regards to the quality of work and Health & Safety, maintaining the 100% uptime criteria.
To ensure that there are excellent standards of response to plant failures, completion of assigned work and ensure any abnormal operating conditions and housekeeping issues are dealt with proficiently.
The individual should have a very good track record and should be capable of running the operation whilst on duty including their respective shift engineer during night shifts and subcontractors.
Ensure that any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the Engineering Supervisor / Manager.
Ensure all record keeping functions are completed on a daily basis, understanding of escalation procedures.
Be part of Out of Hours call out and overtime for on site works and site cover.
Risk Assessments and Method Statements – read, write and review. Carry out Point of Work risk assessment.
Subcontractor’s management.
All PPE, Uniform, tools and specialised tools will be supplied by EQUANS.
The Working Hours are Continental shift based 12 hrs on site 1 hour lunch 4 days and 4 nights shifts

Principal Objectives:
• Carry out PPM tasks and record and complete relative documents
• Carry out reactive callouts on critical systems
• Complete compliance testing and minor works to JSP375 standard
• Minor installation works and testing
• Clear communication of the company vision and objectives ensuring the implementation of new procedures
• Promote and drive the company values
• Keep up to date with industry developments, driving innovation and effective change

This role will be client forward facing, the candidate will need to have good experience and excellent communication skills to ensure all operational and contractual obligations are adhered to mitigate risk to EQUANS.

We are looking for a confident, experienced a driven individual with an experienced background, good planning and organisational skills

HVAC Technician

HVAC Engineer

Equans is looking for a HVAC Engineer to join our team in Hunterston, Scotland on a permanent basis for our EDF contract. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:  
The individual will play a vital role in Equans, working alongside an already established Hard Services team to ensure that the operations are legally and contractually compliant and represent excellence in service delivery. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a positive set of behaviours and a flexible approach to ensure contract compliance.

Impact:  
Our HVAC engineers are responsible for ensuring the scheduled PPM is carried out in accordance with set schedules provided, reacting to emergent defects and failures, and delivering installation and modifications works.
You will be responsible for attending start of shift briefs, ensuring you read and understand all correct Risk Assessments & Method Statements as well as site safety documentation.

Complexity:  
• Carry out PPMs in accordance with set schedules and feedback to Supervisor/Works Planner during and on completion of execution week.
• During PPM, ensure all defects, failures and observations are feedback to Supervisor/Works Planner so that they can be actioned. 
• Conduct reactive maintenance and fault diagnosis on all report issues and help desk requests.
• Deliver installation, upgrades, and modifications of site AC systems to support site office & welfare refurbishment programmes.
• Client Quality Assurance procedures and behaviours are to be adhered to at all times. 
• When attending a work face, conduct a dynamic risk assessment, ensuring the work pack is satisfactory for delivery of the task.
• Constantly engage with Supervisor and Works Planner during execution week, reviewing progress against the plan on the delivery status of each task, highlighting extensions to programmes, justifications, and any plant issues/defects.  
• Arrive promptly to agenda driven team briefings, daily. Ensure you are briefed on the correct risk assessment and method statement for their allocated task and the work is carried out safely in accordance with agreed procedural use, written procedures, and safety documentation.
• Attend meetings with colleagues, client, or other stakeholders to discuss project delivery objectives, risks, and requirements.
• Support Mechanical Supervisor by conducting site measures, arranging material quotations, engaging on scope, resourcing, and timescales.
• Manage daily logging of the teams hours against activity. 
• Attend and participate in all internal and external training courses as and when required for the role.

Qualifications or Required Experience:  
• F-Gas and ODS Regulations (2079) Category 1 
• Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (6187) or equivalent.
• Computer literate with Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge and familiarity with electrical regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
• Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
• Familiarity with risk management, hazard reduction, and quality assurance control.
• CDM Awareness 
• CSCS(ECS)/CCNSG

Electrical Supervisor

Equans is looking for an Electrical Supervisor to join our team in Bridgwater on a permanent basis at Hinkley B Power Station for EDF. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
The Supervisor for the electrical team is responsible for delivery of all aspects of electrical work that falls under the responsibility of Equans, which may consist of planned work, project related work, testing routines, enhancement work and preventative maintenance. All carried out safely and within budget, quality and time parameters.

Impact:
Delivering electrical work to required standards and on time.

Complexity:
The core Electrical Supervisor is responsible for all delegated aspects of Core, helpdesk and
emergent works requested by the client, primarily encompassing electrical work but on occasion civil and other works. The post holder will be responsible for supervising the core electrical work on station, utilising EQUANS site resources and subcontractors, where required. All carried out safely and within budget, quality and time parameters, covering holidays when the Team Leader is off site.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
• Relevant electrical qualifications or equivalent (18th Edition, NVQ3 AM2, City & Guilds 236 Part 1&2).
• A minimum of five years’ qualified experience delivering electrical works.
• Experience of operating in a heavy industry or nuclear environment.
• Preferable experience in working from Mobile Platforms inc’ IPAFF qualification or equivalent.
• Be an assertive and motivated individual in order to supervise site based Equans personnel as well as subcontract personnel.
• Be a qualified and competent time served Electrician with a hands-on approach when required.

Maintenance Assistant

Equans is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team in Leeds working at St James's University Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, based on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, days and nights, working between the hours of 6am-6pm & 6pm-6am. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake a wide range of minor repairs, cleaning and planned maintenance tasks and carry these out quickly and efficiently to a high standard
  • Carry out a range of minor maintenance, cleaning and repairs in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures, for example; fabric repairs, painting, patch plastering, ceiling repairs, wall protection, glazing replacement and flooring repairs
  • Assist with electrical maintenance and repairs such as fitting new flexes and plug tops to equipment, lamp cleaning and replacement, minor electrical repairs within the capability of the individual and portable appliance testing
  • Carry out mechanical repairs such as tap re-washering, drain unblocking, pre-planned maintenance, water checks, minor steam system repairs FFE work, furniture repairs and fitting shelves
  • Assist other members of staff in carrying out maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection and installation work
  • Adjust working patterns or undertake overtime work as required to maintain the service or provide cover for absent colleagues

Electrical Engineer

Equans is looking for a Electrical Engineer to join our team in Leeds working at St James's University Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 42 hours per week, based on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, days and nights, working between the hours of 6am-6pm & 6pm-6am.

What will you deliver?

  • Provide a customer facing highly responsive maintenance service to the Leeds Oncology Wing
  • Undertake a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks and carry these out to a very high standard
  • Carry out maintenance, repairs, testing and inspection of building, mechanical and electrical services, associated systems, plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures.
  • Carry out training to be able to provide Authorised Person duties
  • Manage a small shift team consisting of Maintenance Craftsperson's and Maintenance Assistants
  • Be able to maintain, service and repair a wide range of the building services listed below:
  • Heating and domestic water services
  • General Electrical services such as lighting and power

    Air handling units

  • Low voltage electrical distribution system and switchgear

Mobile Electrician

Equans is looking for a Mobile Electrician to join our team in Dudley, West Midlands on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £36,000 - £38,000 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience, company vehicle and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake a proactive role in carrying out maintenance, repairs and inspection of electrical and electronic systems, plant and equipment
  • Carry out planned preventable maintenance (PPM) on electrical and electronic systems plant and equipment in accordance with the PPM programme
  • Respond in a timely manner to breakdown requests
  • Administer installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works
  • Participate in emergency on-call rota
  • Respond in a safe manner to the effects of bad weather, e.g. snow clearing, gritting, flooding, high winds where required etc.

Who are we looking for?

  • Previously worked within a maintenance environment, ideally Healthcare or Education
  • Qualified to 18th Edition IEE Regulations
  • Testing & Inspection ideal but not essential
  • Knowledge of HTM desirable but not essential
  • Multi skilled experience in Fabric or Mechanical would be advantageous
  • Effective communication skills as you will be working in operational sites, where your awareness will be tested
  • Willingness to become LVAP and other AP role where required
