Mechanical Technician

Equans is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our team at Fife Victoria Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. This is based on a shift pattern that includes working nights and weekends. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Provide delivery of Planned & Reactive maintenance activity of Mechanical resource, supporting Heating, Cooling, Domestic water systems & Equipment, in accordance with the Schedule of Programmed Maintenance
  • Ensure all Planned Maintenance works are completed within the target start and target completion timeframes
  • Ensure all Reactive Works are responded to and completed in line with contractual SLA’s
  • Ensure all Corrective & Remedial works are completed and duly recorded
  • Report all Corrective & Remedial works that need to be undertaken by other skillsets, or external contractors
  • Ensure that the integrity of the Critical systems is always achieved minimising downtime of assets
  • Correctly & Accurately utilise PDA to accurately record information, data and details relating to all works undertaken and accounting for working day
  • Complete all maintenance documentation (electronic and hard copy) ensuring full and accurate completion
  • Assess, compile, and create safety programmes relating to Mechanical and Medical Gas works in line with EQUANS Safe Systems of Work and SHTM 02-01 Undertaking the duties and responsibilities as Appointed Person within the relevant discipline. Issuing of Medical Gas permits as required
  • Issue Limitation of Access Permit to Contractors attending site outside of normal working hours, including working at height, hot works, etc.

Who are we looking for?

  • Completed an HNC or equivalent in mechanical installation/Repair or Pipework installation/repair on heating and cooling systems
  • Effective communication skills, and flexible attitude to work situations
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Excellent administrative and Software applications experience (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, PDA usage, etc)
  • Familiarity with the Healthcare sector, and day to day operation and maintenance of varying types of building/premises (Desirable)
  • Experience/Qualifications within a technical capacity relating to SHTM 02-01 Medical Gas or PSSR Appointed/Authorised Person and/or Competent Person (Desirable)

This role includes a DS Basic check therefore ability to pass is essential.

Boiler House Operative

Equans is looking for a Boiler House Operative to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis for our QEH contract. This is a full time role working 39 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
• The successful applicant must be a well organised individual who is self-motivating and flexible in their approach to work as they will form part of a small dynamic team.
• Must be reliable, polite, and discrete as the post holder will be in contact with medical staff, service users and the general public.
• Should the need arise the post holder will be expected to cover boiler house shifts duties at short notice to cover for annual leave and sickness.
• Have good communication skills as they will be in contact with the Help Desk via telephone, two-way radio, and hand-held PDAs.
• Will be expected to keep good clear written records of completed Planed Preventative maintenance and Reactive work orders.
• Help in planning and managing periodic and cyclic maintenance activities related to the boiler plant. This will require close working and liaison between the boiler operator and the estates management team

Impact:
The Boiler House is an essential element of the hospital complex, and it is essential that boilers are maintained to ensure services are delivered to the Trust.

Complexity:
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of planned preventative maintenance and responding to boiler house alarms and carrying out rectifications.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
• Experience of working within a boiler house environment preferred although onsite training will be provided.
• Be prepared to work towards obtaining a Boiler Operative Accreditation Scheme Qualification (B.O.A.S)
• Able to take a lead in planning and managing periodic and cyclic maintenance activities related to the boiler plant
• Good all-round maintenance knowledge
• Experience of operating steam generating plant and steam distribution systems preferred but not essential.
• Willing to undertake training to reach required standard needed to take on the role.

Decontamination Engineer

EQUANS are recruiting for a Decontamination Engineer to be based at the Queen Alexandria Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. Maintenance Assistant

Equans is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team in Leeds working at St James's University Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, based on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, days and nights, working between the hours of 6am-6pm & 6pm-6am. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake a wide range of minor repairs, cleaning and planned maintenance tasks and carry these out quickly and efficiently to a high standard
  • Carry out a range of minor maintenance, cleaning and repairs in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures, for example; fabric repairs, painting, patch plastering, ceiling repairs, wall protection, glazing replacement and flooring repairs
  • Assist with electrical maintenance and repairs such as fitting new flexes and plug tops to equipment, lamp cleaning and replacement, minor electrical repairs within the capability of the individual and portable appliance testing

Static Technical Operative - Mechanical

Equans is looking for a Static Technical Operative (Mechanical) to join our team in Strand, Holborn for our HMCTS contract on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
To work as a Mechanical engineer with electrical qualification. This Role is to provide both reactive and planned maintenance task as well as replacements though minor works and lifecycle. The role is to maintain the HVAC systems. To manage the sites BMS. And to over see daily operational of cooling towers. 

Qualifications
Desirable to have an NVQ (or similar) in electrical and Mechanical studies.
Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made. 
Ensure that suitable consumables are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works. To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.
Ensure that all relevant paperwork/CAFM is completed regarding planned and reactive activities and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices.
To develop a good working relationship with all members of Equans staff, subcontractors and the client representatives.
Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To always include the wearing of uniform and PPE.
Ensure the professional image of Equans is presented to clients at all times
Ensure that all plant rooms under the responsibility of Equans are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site carrying out associated with electrical and all FM related tasks. 
To arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns.
To undertake lone working when and where required, subject to passing satisfactory training.
Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.
Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
Ensure CAFM system, e.g. Maximo, is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
To carry out any other task as directed by the account management team.
The position will require you to provide support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.

•Produce Condition / Dilapidation Reports as required for fabric assets
•Ensure supervisor is informed immediately if dangerous circumstances occur

SHEQ
•Comply with requests for information from SHEQ manager
•Ensure you work to company health and safety policy
•Ensue PPE is safe to use
•Report accident and near misses in a timely manner
•Ensure your test equipment is within calibration 
•Ensure you follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works

Impact: 
Working to high standard of service, we require a fully reliable and competent Handyman/Fabric Tech who can work on own initiative, within a team or oversee subcontractor’s, producing good quality reports on their findings and work. The role will involve being the face of EQUANS so smart appearance and being able to discuss findings with others including customers is required.

Complexity:  
The successful candidate will have the ability to work unaided and build rapports with end users and customers, promoting EQUANS’ values. 
Have an excellent knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and/or painting/decorating techniques.
Have an eye for detail and be conscious of quality standards.

• Recognized Mechanical qualifications essential.

• 18th Edition wiring Regs. essential
• City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 (Desirable)
• Obtain AP status within 3 months (EQUANS LV and Mechanical rules)
• First Aid at Work.
• Experienced fault-finding skills in BMS, LTHW systems, CLTHW systems, pumps, motors, HVAC, LV power systems, 
• Experience in working with Cooling towers (Desirable) 
• IPAF Certificated for 3a & 3b machines (Desirable)
• Experience in fault finding of BMS
• An understanding of the L8 ACOP 
• A robust understanding of Health and Safety is required.
• Knowledge of the Permit to Work system & experience issuing PTW (Desirable).
• To maintain effective communication with the customers at site level
• Always ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that may be required to support the account and the business in general.
• Be able to manage and prioritise the workload.
• Ensure compliance with contract KPIs and SLAs with the support of the Engineering Supervisor.
• Participation in the account out of hours call out service on a rota basis.

Mobile Plumber

Equans is looking for a Mobile Plumber to join our team in Stoke on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

The Mobile Plumber will be required to work as part of the in-house Stoke Schools engineering team to deliver all Plumbing planned and re-active works throughout the estate on a mobile basis

 

What will you deliver? 

  • Fault finding and repair of Plumbing Assets
  • Carry out regular planned maintenance on associated Plumbing Assets
  • Provide lifecycle & defect reports relating to Mechanical elements. 
  • Provide regular updates to the helpdesk on the progress of all types of work orders. 
  • Supporting other engineering disciplines. 
  • Proactive communication with site staff to obtain access permits and progress updates Day to day management of Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks
  • Responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the works in order to meet the contractual agreement
  • Maintain records to the PPM schedule whether this be completing maintenance reports or keeping updated site logbooks.
  • Take ownership of the client’s needs and pursue effective communications with the customer in order to build a stable relationship

  • Be available to attend or manage emergency call-outs and provide written incident reports as required

Shift Maintenance Electrician

Equans is looking for a Shift Electrician to join our team at Sandwell General Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. This is based on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, 12-hour shifts, days only. On offer is a salary banding of £32,000 - £36,000 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience plus a shift allowance and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake a proactive role carrying out maintenance, repairs and inspection on electrical systems, and mechanical and associated building services. All in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
  • As part of a skilled engineering team you will carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to various services across site and will involve varied tasks such as working on Lighting Systems, Nurse Call, L.V Electrical Installations, Security Systems, Motors, Pumps and associated building services in accordance with the PPM programme
  • Respond in the required time to ad-hoc breakdown requests as identified by supervisor / manager or as a minimum, to comply with contractual KPI’s
  • Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works
  • Carry out systematic fault finding in a logical and safe manner on malfunctioning equipment
  • Potentially work on an on call rota

What you will deliver? 

  • Requirements Management (able to interrogate Engineering Schedule, Verification & Validation requirements etc). 
  • Assist the commissioning engineers and managers with the verification and operation of mechanical/electrical plant and equipment.  This includes liaising with specialist sub-contractors and Equans package managers to follow the specific commissioning process from Level 1 to Level 5.  
  • Compiling and preparing of commissioning test documentation. 
  • Assist in ensuring that work is carried out in full conformance with quality. environmental and safety requirements. 
  • Attend site commissioning meetings.

  • Assist the Internal Trades Manager to prepare an inspection and test plans for each element of the works.

MEP Manager

Equans Data Centers are seeking to appoint MEP Manager to support their growing Data Center business. 

We are committed to providing cutting edge solutions for our clients Data Center facilities and are recruiting a MEP Manager to join our innovative team initially based in Newport, Wales.  The MEP Manager will be responsible for managing teams and the Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing aspects of large projects from inception to completion, within set timescales, to high quality standards and within health and safety guidelines. 

What you will deliver? 

  • Be responsible for ensuring the project complies with Health and Safety regulations and CDM requirements and produce the necessary documents to demonstrate compliance.   
  • Adhere to the companies ISO standards and health and safety procedures and policies. 
  • Have responsibility for ensuring that method statements and risk assessments are followed up by the project team and update any documents as required. 
  • Participate in site progress meetings and project review meetings to keep informed on project progress and address any issues and concerns.

  • Support the Commercial Manager to negotiate the final account agreements with stakeholders involved in the project.

  • Attend project handover meetings to update on progress.

  • Oversee the procurement process, ensuring that necessary materials, equipment and services are procured in a timely and cost-effective manner. 
  • Working with the design team, coordinate the design activities for the project. 
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of subcontractors, both contractually and commercially. 
  • Prepare O&M Manuals and other necessary documents to ensure project handover and ongoing maintenance.
