Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician - Electrical bias

Equans are looking for an experienced Electrically Qualified Multiskilled Maintenance & Service Technician to join their on-site team at the University of Leicester Student Accommodation project. The successful candidate will hold a valid NVQ electrical qualification with 18th Edition training, and have experience in a comparable role. The Maintenance & Service technician will be required to carry out a range of both Reactive Works and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks in accordance with the PPM schedule, including but not limited to:

  • Provide maintenance at a single site student accommodation complex in Leicester
  • Provide initial response to all Reactive Maintenance requests during normal working hours and Out of Hours as part of the On-call Out of Hours Rota. A company van will be provided for use to travel to and from the site as needed (excludes personal use)
  • Quarterly shower head & hose cleaning in accordance with L8 requirements (full training will be provided)
  • Weekly fire alarm testing on the student accommodation
  • Bi-annual Fire Door inspections (full BRE Academy training will be provided), ensuring necessary adjustments are completed / faults & damage recorded accurately
  • Undertake contractor control duties on behalf of Equans; monitoring the activities of subcontractors and their workmanship, so that relevant standards are met

Electrical Engineer

Equans is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Wakefield for our Pinderfield & Pontefract Hospital contract on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week - there will be a continental shift pattern for this role, and this will include additional shift allowance. General Overview:
Working directly to the Technical Supervisors, the post holder will have the required skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of electrical engineering services and building plant as part of a flexible maintenance team, including specialist subcontractors to deliver work to the highest of standards for our clients.

The main responsibilities include efficiently and effectively performing electrical maintenance of all relevant assets. Work will be assigned from a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule or in response to a reactive work order raised by our client representatives or our own personnel on site. All planned and reactive tasks will be managed through to completion, including fault diagnosis and sourcing parts where applicable. Must be able to demonstrate that awareness of best working practices and that these are followed at all times.

Working as part of a wider M&E team, there may be a requirement to undertake other tasks that may not be specifically related to electrical systems.

Impact:
The objective of the department is to operate and maintain a physical environment in which healthcare can be delivered to the patient. The main elements being the maintenance of both building fabric and services e.g. external and internal finishes, fittings and fixtures, plumbing, electrical and mechanical services, piped medical gases etc.

Compliance with all statutory requirements in relation to safe working practices and safe operation of plant, equipment and services. Keeping records of all activities as per all Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) and Quality Assurance requirements and to providing professional advice and guidance on all aspects of building services maintenance and repair.

Complexity:
• To work in accordance with the requirements of Health Technical Memoranda (HTM’s) and any other relevant statutory compliance requirements.
• To be certified Appointed Person in critical systems including Electrical (Low Voltage). This requires the post holder to be trained, certificated and reassessed at regular intervals, generally three yearly.
• To support, advise and action Policy and Safe Working Procedures as a Competent Person (Electrical).
• Actively participate in the operation and control of all engineering planned maintenance schemes and undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities to plant and non-medical equipment.
• Undertake fault finding on complex hospital infrastructure including low voltage power and distribution systems, lighting systems including Emergency lighting. UPS, IPS supplies and standby generators. Using cause effect analysis and detailed examination to gain a solution and use of all relevant drawings and schematics.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections and commission and test in accordance with published procedures.
• Complete all report sheets and test certificates as necessary and mark up any drawing alterations.
Complete all Task/Risk Assessment sheets relating to work.
• Use of all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works ensuring full compliance with EQUANS Guidelines and Controls e.g. Risk Assessment, Site Safety, Fire Safety, Control of Infection and Hazardous Substances.
• Carry out emergency repairs as required (which may require overtime).
• Obligation to undertake training where necessary to learn new techniques and technology.
• Understand the relationship of other maintenance crafts to this role.
• Monitors the building services and report defects to the Technical Supervisors.
• Familiar in the use of Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Recording of planned and reactive maintenance in the site CAFM systems via electronic data devices.
• Provide feedback on PPM results in relation to building related PPM issues and Fire Safety.
• Awareness and understanding of contract KPI’s to ensure compliance and effective service delivery
• Communicate with wards/departments to ensure awareness of planned/re-active works in their area and ensure completion to their satisfaction.
• Supervise, communicate and develop other trades staff and assess/evaluate the quality of the work.
• Ensures that all activities proceed in a safe manner compliant with Statutory Regulation, CDM, Good Practice, etc by compiling procedures, monitoring standards and maintaining records.

May require participation on a shift roster, which will include working unsocial hours (for which a shift allowance is paid).

All employees have a duty to report any accidents, complaints, defects in equipment, near misses and untoward incidents, following EQUANS procedure.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
Recognised Electrical/Engineering Apprenticeship – HNC, ONC, City & Guilds, or equivalent experience.
BS7671(18th Edition).
Must be able to obtain Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance.

District Heating Engineer

Electrical Craftsperson

Equans are working closely in partnership with the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust to prepare for the opening of the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), the brand-new centre of healthcare provision for the local community.

  • Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
  • Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as low voltage electrical systems, access control systems, alarm systems and medical gas installations
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training
  • Minimise penalty deductions by responding in a timely manner to all maintenance issues in accordance with the requirements of the contract
  • Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works

Quantity Surveyor

Equans Data Centers is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to be based on a Data Center project in Newport, South Wales. 

The Quantity Surveyor will work with the project teams and assist managing the commercial performance of the projects.  The Quantity Surveyor will provide expert advice on all commercial aspects of the projects including the management of costs and contractual matters.

Mobile Electrician

Equans is looking for a Mobile Electrician to join our team on the HMCTS contract. You will be based from Croydon Crown Court but the role will cover various sites across South London. What will you deliver?

  • Carry out routine PPM all electrical plant in accordance with Site task schedules and CAFM.
  • Complete reactive tasks throughout various sites and highlight areas where improvements can be made.
  • Swiftly remedy all plant faults and defects
  • Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works.
  • Provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.
  • Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance.
  • Undertake lone working when and where required
  • Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.
  • Carry out any other task as directed by the account management team.

Who are we looking for?

  • Minimum of a level 3 Electrical qualification in electrical installations (essential)
  • 18th Edition wiring regulations (essential)
  • City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 (Desirable)
  • Obtain Electrical AP status within 3 months (EQUANS LV safety rules)
  • First Aid at Work.
  • Experienced fault-finding skills in control, lighting, power systems
  • Experience in a leisure/public venue environment.
  • IPAF Certificated for 3a & 3b machines (Desirable)
  • Experience in fault finding of BMS would be an advantage
  • An understanding of the L8 ACOP (Desirable).
  • A robust understanding of Health and Safety is required.
  • Be able to manage and prioritise the workload

Shift Electrical Craftsperson

Equans are working closely in partnership with the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust to prepare for the opening of the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), the brand-new centre of healthcare provision for the local community.

Our vision is for the new facility to be more than a hospital – we want to provide a top-class healthcare provision, a sustainable service and deliver real value to the local community. We’re looking for a dedicated team with the skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to quality which will help us reach this!

Joining our team at MMUH, as part of a wider team responsible for maintenance across other sites within the Trust’s estate, you will have a unique opportunity to provide valuable input into the vital final stages prior to opening, influencing how the future management and maintenance of the facility is delivered. You will work on the site throughout the remaining construction and commissioning phases, liaising closely with both the Trust and constructor, and then to continue to maintain the completed hospital.

Equans is looking for a Shift Electrical Craftsperson to join our team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, based on a shift rota that includes working nights and weekends to provide 24/7 cover on site. On offer is a salary banding of £35,000 - £38,000 (inclusive of all allowances) per annum, dependent upon skills and experience, and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
  • Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as low voltage electrical systems, access control systems, alarm systems and medical gas installations
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training
  • Minimise penalty deductions by responding in a timely manner to all maintenance issues in accordance with the requirements of the contract
  • Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works

Who are we looking for?

  • Previously worked within a maintenance environment
  • At least 3 years post apprenticeship experience within a maintenance environment
  • Good knowledge and understand of a range of complex mechanical systems including but not limited to ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems
  • Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level
  • GCSE / O Level Mathematics and English or equivalent

Mobile Technician

Equans is looking for a Mobile Technician to join our Islington Schools contract on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £38,000 - £40,000 per annum dependent upon skills and experience. In addition you will receive an excellent benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Reactive and planned maintenance tasks to Electrical and mechanical building services systems  
  • Emergency light testing, including remedial works
  • High level lamping and lighting fittings replacement
  • Fault finding and remedial works on electrical, mechanical and ventilation systems including AHU,  HRU and FCU systems
  • Installation and repair to power and data cabling
  • Provide technical solutions for PPM works and fault rectification
  • Liaise with Help Desk, Technical supervisors and Technical services manager
  • Assist in the preparation of quotes for Variation and Small Works
  • Liaise with sub-contractors to resolve M&E and controls related issues.
  • Issue induction, permits to works and Equans Safety programs where required

Electrician

Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team onsite at Sizewell B Power Station, Leiston, IP16 4UR on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5hours per week. On offer is a competitve salary and excellent benefits package.

  • Carry out PPM / reactive tasks and LV electrical installations.
  • Have a good working knowledge of electrical installs, electrical repairs and fault finding.

  • Gain an understanding of the operational requirements of Sizewell B Power Station.
