Role overview:

 

The Material Controller is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate management of materials throughout the supply chain process.

This includes overseeing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Key activities: 

  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records, track material usage, and conduct regular physical inventory counts to ensure data accuracy
  • Oversee the receiving, storing, and issuing of materials in a timely and organized manner, ensuring proper storage conditions and minimizing waste or loss
  • Work closely with procurement, ordering materials
  • Documentation: Ensure all material transactions are properly documented in the inventory management system, including receipts, transfers, and shipments
  • Quality Control: Inspect materials upon arrival for quality and quantity, and manage any discrepancies or defects in collaboration with the quality assurance team
  • Reporting: Generate regular inventory and material usage reports for management, highlighting any issues or potential improvements in material handling and storage
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines for material storage and handling, and ensure that all team members follow these protocols
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve material control processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency within the supply chain
  • Must continuously balance the need for adequate stock levels against the risk of overstocking. This requires careful analysis of demand forecasts, lead times, and production schedules to ensure materials are available when needed without tying up excess capital in inventory

Skills, qualifications & experience 

  • Experience in material control, inventory management, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Forklift licence
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of safety and quality standards related to material handling
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move materials as needed, work in a warehouse environment, and operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).

Electrical Engineer

EQUANS is looking for an Electrician to join our team in Liverpool on a permanent basis for HMCTS contract at Liverpool Crown Court. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.  

General Overview:
The primary purpose of the role is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of Electrical Buildings Services Engineering plant, ensuring all activities are completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with the contracted output specifications and EQUANS processes and procedures. This includes Legionella control and monitoring activities. 
-Ensure that routine PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) is carried out to electrical plant in accordance with Site task and CAFM (Computer Aided Facilities Management)
-Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made. 
-Ensure that plant faults and defects are always swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order.
-Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works. To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.
-Ensure that all relevant paperwork/CAFM is completed regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
-Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are present and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices.
-To develop a good working relationship with all members of EQUANS staff, subcontractors, and the client representatives.
-Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To always include the wearing of uniform and PPE.
-Ensure the professional image of EQUANS is always presented to clients.
-Ensure up to date plant logs are always kept.
-Ensure that all plant rooms under the responsibility of EQUANS are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
-Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance.
-To arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns. To deliver 40 hours per week between the hours of 07:00-19:00.
-To undertake lone working when and where required, subject to passing satisfactory training.
-Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.
-Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
-Ensure CAFM (Computer Aided Facilities Management) system, e.g., Movaliser, is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
-To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with EQUANS Technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements (or approved client system).
-To carry out any other task as directed by the Management team.
The position will require you to provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.

Client / Customer
•Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests ensuring CAFM is updated
•Coordinate quotations with the Area Facilities Manager and Technical Supervisor
•Production of information for quotations
 
Helpdesk - PPM 
•Support the Helpdesk as required when reporting or updating planned and reactive maintenance
•Be available for out of hours call-out support for the contract on a on call Rota basis.

Compliance 
•To gain Technical Appointments as required e.g., LVCP/LVAP/Mechanical /Pressure CP. 
•Produce Condition / Dilapidation Reports as required
•Ensure supervisor is informed immediately if dangerous circumstances occur

SHEQ
•Comply with requests for information from SHEQ manager
•Ensure you work to company health and safety policy
•Ensue PPE is safe to use
•Report accident and near misses in a timely manner
•Ensure your test equipment is within calibration 
•Ensure you follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works

Impact: 
Working to high standard of Building Maintenance, we require a fully reliable and competent Multiskilled Engineer who can work on own initiative, within a team or oversee subcontractor is, producing high quality reports on their findings and work. The role will involve being the face of EQUANS so smart appearance and being able to discuss findings with others including customers is required.

Complexity: 
The successful candidate will have the ability to fault find, diagnose, and rectify both Electrical and Mechanical faults and issues unaided. 

Qualifications or Required Experience:  
4 Year experience in a similar role and or relevant qualification examples are: Electrical Installation part 1,2 and 3 18th Edition, test and inspect. Desirable, L8, experience

Technical Supervisor

EQUANS is looking for a Technical Supervisor to join our team in Liverpool on a permanent basis for HMCTS contract at Liverpool Crown Court. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.  

General Overview:  
The post holder is accountable for the delivery of the HMCTS contract and associated specifications for the contract.
Duties include;
•Supervise the delivery of the contracted services for the HMCTS contract by supporting the AFM
•Support the AFM in achieving all SLA’s in place
•Manage the engineers to support achieving all internally delivered KPI’s
•Support the AFM in achieving 100% statutory compliance.
•Ensuring H&S compliance to legislative and EQUANS standards
•Line management of direct reports, including recruitment, training, PDRs, succession planning, absence and performance management.
•To ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and ensure that they are followed by all personnel involved in the contract.
•To work closely with the HMCTS FM’s to deliver an excellent service in support of EQUAN’s objectives.
•To generate and foster a Health and Safety culture across all services.
•Ensure that all risks relating to safety, health, environment and quality are effectively managed using risk assessments, PPE, training and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment for both employees and service users. 
•Ensure all accidents and near misses are adequately recorded, investigated and appropriate action taken.
•Able to develop effective working relationships with operational personnel, suppliers and sub-contractor's to improve operational performance.
•To create a positive working environment for the team.

•To evidence knowledge and understanding of the SLAs, opportunities and risks present.

Mobile Electrician

Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team in Barking, London on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

We are looking for an Electrician who will be responsible for the technical performance and maintaining Equans and industry standards within the London Barking Schools contract and is part of our front line customer facing team with the responsibility of dealing with high end maintenance work.

What will you deliver?

  • Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring
  • Test electrical circuits and components for continuity, using electrical test equipment
  • Reassemble and test equipment following repairs
  • Inspect and test system to verify system compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions
  • To carry out all PPM and repairs as necessary
  • Ensure any parts required are clearly and accurately stated
  • Obtain and maintain required certification
  • Ensure that any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the Engineering Supervisor/Manager
  • Ensure all record keeping functions are completed on a daily basis
  • This is a Mobile role, involving use of a company van, tools & equipment. You must have a full clean UK drivers licence to apply

Cabling Supervisor

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Connections Supervisor who has worked either within the highways infrastructure sector. This position will require the postholder to be prepared to work across parts of the UK.

Key activities

  • Liaise with client representatives, local authority officers, district network operator and primary network operator representatives and others at site meetings.
  • Ensure instructions issued to team leaders are fully complied with during regular site visits
  • To raise task instructions in accordance with the electrical safety management system and issue task instructions to the appropriately trained and competent staff
  • Liaise with the DNO / IDNO Control Engineer to obtain authorisation for operations are conducted on the distribution network
  • Ensure and verify that all statutory and legislative requirements and regulations are compiled with on site.
  • To carry out regular site audits to ensure chapter 8 of the NRSWA and company health and safety policy and procedures are being met.
  • Ensure and verify that planned work are carried out in accordance with client instructions, ensure NRSWA opening notices have been issued prior to the construction date. Check street furniture units are erected to the working method statement standards.
  • Carry out all safety audits on a regular basis
  • Ensure a professional approach is maintained while carrying out the job with special regard for the public
  • To ensure and verify the keeping of accurate and appropriate records and statistics which would enable management reports to prepared 
  • Visit future sites ahead of work date to ensure minimum traffic disruption and minimise on site disruption
  • Ensure that all power supply connections or disconnections have been arranged prior to work commencement. 

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • Previous experience of working in a similar role within a utilities/networks/street works or similar environment is essential
  • Must have experience of staff supervision
  • Confident with strong communication skills 
  • Excellent written skills, preferably with experience of report writing 
  • Flexible approach to working, with the ability to adapt to change 
  • Full driving licence

Mobile Electrician

Equans is looking for a Mobile Electrician to join our team in Bellshill, Scotland and the role will be working on a mobile basis across the Central Belt of Scotland on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. There is also an on call rota. On offer is a salary of £37,332 per annum, company vehicle and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Ensure all PPM is carried out in accordance with the maintenance specification and documented in real time using the PDA to log start/wait/stop completion and travel times with appropriate comments to evidence completion of work
  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator. Complete supplementary documentation / E-Forms relating to the maintenance task as dictated by your line manager
  • Update customers CAFM system in real time with start/wait/stop completion times and provide full description of works undertaken, advising of any follow-on works required
  • Ensure reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made. Identify and record all plant failures using quotation forms and issue to line manager. This is to be indicated and recorded within the CAFM system
  • Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order. In accordance with the delegated authority with the applicable contract or authorised by the client
  • Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works. To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works
  • Undertake Point of Work Risk Assessment (POWRA) prior to starting work evidencing it is safe to proceed. Note any safety concerns using the AIMS system

  • A recognised industry qualification will be required, and previous experience is essential
  • QC Number required
  • 18th Edition is essential
  • Trade qualified Electrician with at least 5-years post apprenticeship experience
  • Legionella awareness (preferable – can provide training)

  • Asbestos awareness (preferable but not essential)
  • MEWP Licence (preferable but not essential)
  • First aid trained (preferable but not essential)
  • Computer literate

Senior Shift Engineer

Equans is looking for a Senior Shift Engineer to join our team in Leeds working at St James's University Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 42 hours per week, based on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, days and nights, working between the hours of 6am-6pm & 6pm-6am.

On offer is a salary of £32,000 per annum dependent upon skills and experience, plus a shift allowance and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Provide a customer facing highly responsive maintenance service to the Leeds Oncology Wing
  • Undertake a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks and carry these out to a very high standard
  • Carry out maintenance, repairs, testing and inspection of building, mechanical and electrical services, associated systems, plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures.
  • Carry out training to be able to provide Authorised Person duties
  • Manage a small shift team consisting of Maintenance Craftsperson's and Maintenance Assistants
  • Be able to maintain, service and repair a wide range of the building services listed below:
  • Heating and domestic water services
  • General Electrical services such as lighting and power

    Air handling units

  • Low voltage electrical distribution system and switchgear
  • Emergency standby generating plant
  • Fire alarm systems and emergency lighting
  • Electrical control systems
  • Building Management System

Electrician

Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team in Wakefield on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £40,000 - £42,000, dependent upon skills and experience plus company benefits package. 

Due to an increased workload, we are seeking to recruit a Testing & Inspection qualified Electrician to join our Electrical Testing & Inspection Team. This role is a component of our partnership with Coca-Cola, located in Wakefield. The Electrician will report directly to the Site Manager (with support from the T&I Supervisor) and will be responsible for the daily operations of the electrical testing and inspection contract.

What will you deliver? 

  • Complete PPM and reactive works activities in accordance with contract requirements, and in line with company competency appointments
  • Supervise works carried out by specialist sub-contractors, reporting anomalies to the Contract Supervisor / Site Management
  • Work with Site Manager to identify obsolete and end-of-life-cycle equipment for input into the forward maintenance plan and updating of the asset register
  • Be aware of and have good working understanding and practical hands-on input regarding control of legionella and associated required works
  • To attend site in response to breakdowns or failures of the equipment outside of normal working hours (call outs)
  • To carry out scheduled Electrical testing and Inspection maintenance tasks including but not limited to Emergency Lighting, ECIR, Illumination Levels, Infra-Red, Motors, PAT, Static Discharge, Lightening Protection

Multi Skilled Engineer

Equans is looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our team at Burnley General Teaching Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, there is also an on-call rota. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The Engineer will provide guidance to others on site, showing technical expertise, particularly in electrical systems, to ensure appropriate and compliant solutions and efficient customer service delivery. They will also have advanced technical knowledge in more than one skill or technology area – although with an electrical bias.

What will you deliver?

  • Diagnose, fault-find, commission systems, monitor and assess ongoing machine/facility performance, through Planned Preventive Maintenance programme, identifying any additional works required
  • Assist in installing, commissioning, and servicing plant, equipment and industrial furniture
  • The multiskilled duties will include working with Water, AHUs, Electrical work with AP, Generators and work in Plantroom Environments
  • Carry out and assist in planned/reactive maintenance to on site systems
  • Help ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H&S and environmental regulations and helping us to achieve our H&S target
  • Flexible working hours required which may include shifts and overtime working by arrangement
  • Participate in the on-call rota
