Mobile BMS Engineer

Equans is looking for a Mobile BMS Engineer to join our Digital business, covering parts of Telford and the surrounding areas on a full time basis.

Equans Digital has a very exciting opportunity to deliver critical Building Management System (BMS) Infrastructure upgrades / enhancements across a number of commercial, retail, healthcare, education & government sectors - across the country. In doing so we naturally prime the sites to become ‘Smart Enabled’, meaning we can then introduce further value across sites via our IoT solutions; driving social, economic and environmental benefits to portfolios of sites and more importantly people operating and living within them.

Equans Digital currently deliver project works ranging from £10k - £1.5m in singular size + variations via an evolving blend of inhouse delivery supplemented by a selection of specialist supply chain partners. With an aggressive growth strategy over the next 3 – 5 years, this role will be paramount in helping to define shape and grow the team to ensure we grow sustainably. 

Key activities:

 

The role of BMS Service Engineer will include carrying out a number of tasks on contracted customer sites, including PFI Schools, PFI Hospitals, Government Estates and MOD sites.  Your day to day will include:

  • Installing, configuring and BMS components and equipment, including sensors, controllers, actuators, and software systems.
  • Carrying out maintenance checks on Trend, Tridium and Distech BMS’s on our various sites.
  • Reactive call out rota will be worked (additional financial benefit included for being on call and attending)
  • Provision of specialist technical assistance and support to clients regarding their BMS systems.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement/remedial works to improve the performance of the BMS’s for our clients
  • Preparing proposals and quoting of works as required

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • City & Guild / BTEC / NVQ Electrical.
    Extensive knowledge & experience of BMS / HVAC.
  • Knowledge & experience with Trend, Tridium Controls/Niagara/Distech/Siemens.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the electrical industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret Electrical & Mechanical schematic diagrams.
  • Understanding of IT networks
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Controls training / experience.
  • Experience with fault finding in electrical panels
  • DBS vetting and potential BPSS vetting
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Head of EV Charge Point Deployment

Equans is looking for a Head of EV Charge Point Deployment to join our team, working from home with some additional national travel. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

The role holder will manage a team of 3 Project Managers and Coordinators to ensure the safe and profitable delivery of both public and workplace EV charging infrastructure through sub-contractors, EV Chargepoint manufacturers and supply chain.

They will support the design and installation of electric vehicle charging equipment for commercial and public sector clients across the UK and deliver against targets in a safe and responsible manner.

What will you deliver?

  • Ensure the health and safety of the team and sub-contractors is closely monitored and full compliance with Equans Management System
  • Ensure full compliance with CDM through Equans Management System
  • Meet clients and, if required, support or carry out technical surveys on proposed installation locations or identify key locations for deployment
  • Support the team in liaising with ICP/DNOs, back end system design, electrical design, installation specification and equipment specification
  • Cost management and reconciliation through PO/ Invoice procedures, ensuring projects are delivered on time and budget
  • Customer liaison
  • Good problem solving skills and able to rectify quickly and effectively on sites.
  • Build a close working relationship with clients and contractor account managers who will assist with day-to-day enquiries
  • Complete project planning and management, client liaison and management of site operatives
  • Installation crew management and support
  • Auditing of ongoing and completed installations
  • System registration and notification
  • Assume role of SME as required

Operations Manager

Equans Embedded Energy operate multiple customer sites with large-scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. We combine multiple technologies to meet our customers’ specific needs, and provide design, build, operate and maintenance services. Our skills and expertise can help industrial businesses to achieve their carbon reduction goals.

We are experts in many technologies, including combined heat and power (CHP), biomass, and energy from waste. By locating generation on customers’ sites we provide our customers with industry leading safety management, reduced energy costs and carbon footprint and assured energy security for their operational needs.

Currently we have an opportunity for an Operations Manager to oversee a generating station in Leeds  and will involve working with and improving the site systems as well as having responsibility for the site operations and maintenance activities on a day-to-day basis. The Operations Manager will also produce weekly documentation to report on KPI’s to the customer and manage the day-to-day budgetary spend.

Key activities

The individual should be able to lead, think logically and respond quickly and confidently to problems with minimum supervision and have the ability to lead and supervise the team employed on site.

The Operations Manager will be a self-motivated, flexible individual, able to work alone, lead others and use initiative and be willing to accept responsibility to deliver the companies requirements whilst maintaining a good relationship with the customer to meet their demands and KPI’s associated with the O&M contract.

  • Operating the plant to ensure compliance with appropriate safety and environmental standards, and statutory requirements including BG01/BG04, HTM’s.
  • Ensure plant-related routine duties and plant performance, availability and reliability are maintained to a high level.
  • Managing the legislative maintenance activities on-site, including ensuring that PSSR inspection requirements are undertaken, functional Safety tests are carried out, Legionella management, and ensure that statutory routines are programmed and carried out in line with the maintenance plan.
  • Application of the safe systems of work and undertake the role of Location Manager within Embedded Energy Safety rules.
  • Planning, organizing and supervising maintenance activities utilising the CMMS.
  • General day-to-day management of the operations and maintenance engineers on site.
  • Leading the site engineers for maintenance, project work and outage preparation activities.
  • Responsibility for producing weekly reports and reporting to EQUANS customer.
  • Ensure contract data and reports are compiled to the required standard, are retained and managed in a suitable electronic document management system or equivalent.
  • Responsibility for producing and maintaining identified site documentation and procedures
  • Managing safety and any emergency response plans in line with EQUANS and the end users policies.
  • Liaising with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain a professional attitude, an appropriate level of communication and courteous behavior to all colleagues, host site personnel, contractors, and visitors to the Generating Station.
  • Managing the procurement of spares and consumables in line with the budget.

Skills, qualifications & experience

 

  • Minimum HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably Degree.)
  • Industrial Steam Boiler operations and maintenance experience (BOAS desirable)
  • NEBOSH Cert, IOSH Managing safely or similar safety qualification (desirable)
  • 18th Edition qualifications (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Steam Boiler, Boiler chemistry and Water Treatment Plant
  • Knowledge of chilled water system including evaporating cooling towers
  • Knowledge of Gas fired CHP engines
  • Knowledge of rotating plant (Pumps, Motors and Compressors)
  • Knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Rules and functional safety standards

HV ICP Manager

We have a great opportunity for a HV ICP Manager to work on a street lighting and highways lighting projects, specialising in the maintenance, installation, and repair of LED lighting assets across various locations in the UK.

The ideal candidate will  manage the implementation of high-voltage electrical frameworks for an Independent Connection Provider (ICP); as part of our wider projects.

Key Responsibilities:

High Voltage Accreditation:

  • Lead the process of obtaining High Voltage accreditation by meeting the requirements set by relevant authorities and standards
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards for high voltage testing and calibration.
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation for accreditation          

NERS Accreditation Maintenance:

  • Maintain NERS accreditation by adhering to the scheme's requirements and undergoing regular audits
  • Implement and monitor quality management systems to ensure ongoing compliance with NERS standards
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of work procedures and risk assessments.

ICP Development:

  • Develop and implement strategies to establish the company as an Independent Connection Provider (ICP)

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all high voltage projects comply with industry standards and client specifications.

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Energy, or a related field.
  • Solid experience in managing HV electrical distribution systems, preferably in an ICP environment or with utilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of HV electrical systems, network design, and regulatory requirements (e.g. NERS, IEC, ENA, Ofgem).
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and best practices, particularly in high-voltage environments.
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering large-scale projects in compliance with technical specifications and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in working with multidisciplinary teams.

The Energy and Carbon Solutions (ECS) consulting division provides an initial engagement that helps shape our new and existing client’s operational plans to deliver their net zero objectives. BMS Project Manager

Equans is looking for a Project Manager to join our Equans Digital Business on a permanent, full-time basis to deliver critical system upgrades / improvements to the Building Management System (BMS) Infrastructure for our clients in the UK

In doing so we naturally prime the sites to become ‘Smart enabled’, meaning we can then introduce further value across sites via our IoT solutions; driving social, economic and environmental benefits to portfolio of sites and more importantly people operating and living within them.

In relation to scale, individual projects will range from £200k to £3m worth of works with multiple projects ‘live’ at any point in time. 

Key activities 

Smart Building have a very exciting opportunity to deliver critical Building Management System (BMS) Infrastructure upgrades / enhancements across a number of commercial, retail, healthcare, education & government sectors - across the country. In doing so we naturally prime the sites to become ‘Smart enabled’, meaning we can then introduce further value across sites via our IoT solutions; driving social, economic and environmental benefits to portfolios of sites and more importantly people operating and living within them.

You will provide leadership, direction, guidance, constructive challenge and coaching to Project Engineering and supporting project team roles  in relation to project approach, activities, risks, issues and general management to ensure each task is delivered on time and on budget as a minimum.

In relation to scale, each project ranges from £1 – 2m worth of works and there are multiple projects available as part of a 3-4 year rolling programme so helping to define and grow the team to support will also be a significant part of the role. 

  • Multi stakeholder engagement to deliver the agreed project outcome, while adhering to our, customer and end user policy and procedures.
  • Key client and End user point of escalation, being the key Senior person responsible for the project delivery.
  • Supervise delivery of benefits against the business case and ensure appropriate approvals and assurance plans are in place.

  • Identify and set appropriate project controls, tracking and reporting delivery against milestones and budgets.
