We have a great opportunity for an Installation Operative to join our solar project delivery team. Our Installation Operatives are crucial to supporting our wider energy business to deliver a wide variety of ambitious solar and other energy renewable projects across the UK. This role will involve working anywhere in the country but we do provide accommodation and other expenses while working away from home.

Key activities:

  • To ensure all quality procedures are followed and adhered to
  • Collaborate all relevant documentation
  • Report all findings with relevant photo’s
  • Assist around site when required in all general labouring duties
  • Implement all quality procedures as specified by site management
  • Ensure that the full co-operation and best customer relations are maintained at all times, specifically on site.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Must have experience working on solar projects
  • Desirable to have a current ECS card or CSCS 
  • Good work attitude with the ability to work away from home during week (with some night working) and be a team player
  • Experience of MCX spec relating to cable installation would be an advantage
  • Strong communication skills

Project Handover Engineer

Our highly successful renewable energy business has a great opportunity for a Project Handover Engineer, the role will involve managing the handover of projects to clients by coordinating the completion of activities and the collation, quality control and handover of the output documentation.

Currently we have projects covering the Midlands, Yorkshire, Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. The role can be based at one of the following offices; Manchester, Cambridge, London Waterloo, Welwyn or Sittingbourne. However the role will require travel and thus accommodation and other necessary support will be provided when working away from home.

Key activities:

  • Create a programme of all activities and documentation required for project handover.
  • Liaise with project team members (Project Managers, Quality personnel etc.) to agree required outputs from activities in advance, and the expected dates.
  • Monitor and manage the delivery of the agreed outputs, investigating and rescheduling any late items.
  • Track and report progress (%age completion) of each project’s handover pack.
  • Liaise with Client to ensure Client satisfaction with content and quality of handover pack as it is planned and delivered.
  • Collaborate with the team’s Document Control staff to ensure the progressive upload of handover documentation throughout the project up until final handover.
  • Ensure that all relevant contractual requirements are met by the contents of the handover pack.
  • Expedite and coordinate Client comments and ensure that required updates to handover documentation are incorporated, and the documentation re-transmitted.
  • To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans.

Skills, qualifications & experience:

 

  • Experience in the management and delivery of Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects
  • Experience of activity planning, monitoring, tracking and expediting

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Energy Engineering team in the development of innovative renewable energy and retrofit efficiency projects. This key role will report to the Energy Engineering Director, supporting the continued growth in our engineering and design function in light of our expanding pipeline of work.

The  Senior Electrical Design Engineer will lead the electrical design elements of multidisciplinary projects from RIBA 1 to 4, as well as provide technical assurance during construction. These projects will typically range in value from £1m to £5m an encompass virtually all forms of renewable energy technologies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in electrical engineering, spanning conventional building services, infrastructure and renewable energies. The candidate will be conversant with modern design tools, such as Amtec, AutoCAD and REVIT, as well as key design standards, regulations and codes of practice. Creativity, innovative thinking and adaptability will be required in order to meet the diverse needs and ambitions of our projects.

Key activities

  • The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will hold responsibilities for assuring that design packages are delivered on time, on budget, satisfy project requirements and achieve compliance

  • Develop robust yet efficient designs in unique project environments with immovable deadlines
  • Liaise with Statutory Authorities, including Distribution Network Operators, to obtain relevant consents
  • Coordinate internal and external designers to ensure achievement of deliverables
  • Prepare scopes and specifications for externally procured activities

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • Bachelors or masters degree in engineering,
  • Membership with an appropriate professional institution
  • Relevant awards associated with electrical engineering
  • UK Engineering Council Chartership would be advantageous, though not exclusive

Senior Civil Structural Design Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Structural Design Engineer to join our Energy & Carbon Solutions business. This business unit supports a wide range of decarbonisation and renewable energy projects.

The main purpose for this role will involve managing the civil and structural engineering and design development, working alongside a team of in-house specialist engineers with elements outsourced to subconsultants. Typical civil and structural work includes engineering buildings / structures and foundations, drainage systems, highways access, site temporary / permanent roadways, utilities / services distribution, solar superstructures etc.

Key activities 

  • To lead the civil and structural design and engineering development of utility-scale renewable energy projects, from early concept through the construction phases
  • To manage and maintain design technical compliance with Employer’s Requirements, statutory requirements and relevant design standards
  • To ‘project manage’ the civil and structural design process
  • To develop conceptual designs, design / performance specifications and outline scopes of work, to enable commissioning of detailed design, design & build contract specifications and specialist consultancy support
  • Lead the commissioning of insourced / outsourced design and specialist consultancy, through the preparation of technical briefs, design scopes and performance specifications
  • Interrogate and optimise civil and structural designs
  • Assist in the delivery of Construction Design & Management Principal Designer duties, including but not limited to the preparation of Pre-Construction Information, appraisal of Designer’s Risk Assessments, preparation of Hazard Assessments and identification / implementation of mitigations
  • Assist in the development of Commissioning Plans, Integrated Test Plans, Quality Acceptance Test Plans

EV Estimator

Equans is looking for an EV Estimator to join our EV Charging Solutions business the role will be home based with some additional national travel. Senior Project Manager

We have a great opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to oversee major renewable EPC projects across the UK.  We design, install, commission and operate large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

Alongside our solar farm projects we are involved in delivering a wide range of energy solutions to secure a more sustainable future.

Please note that when working away from home you will be provided with hotel accommodation and additional expenses whilst working away from home. The postholder will also have access to a company vehicle.

Key Activities:

  • To oversee a number of renewable energy projects (Solar PV & Energy Storage) ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, to budget and with high levels of client satisfaction
  • To run the contract from handover to final completion (completion of Defects Liability Period), including preparation of the SHEQ Plan.  To take control of the fire risk assessment plan, traffic management plan and project risk assessments
  • Ensuring that all work is carried out to contract specifications with regard to the quality of work, time scales, costs and is authorised and documented in accordance with company procedures 
  • Planning resource appropriately to ensure maximum utilisation of human resource (including travel costs and time) and minimise cost of materials and equipment to provide a cost-effective service 
  • Ensuring that all members of staff directly or indirectly employed under your direction carry out their duties in a safe manner, in compliance to the companies Health and Safety Policy and in particular that of any site specific risk assessment 
  • Being responsible for the consistent project delivery including robust, high-quality services through management of the operational teams 
  • Implementing corporate strategies, especially in the context of financial performance (profitability, overhead minimisation, positive cash flow, improved financial ratios, etc.) 
  • Being responsible for contractual performance in line with approved budgets, key performance indicators, performance monitoring systems, output specifications and contractual requirements 
  • Attend senior management meetings and client meetings as Project lead
  • Effectively managing supply chain to the project in a cost-effective way 
  • Building and maintaining partnership relationships with the client representatives and managers 
  • Recruiting, developing, and motivating operational staff to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and customer service and efficient delivery

Skills, qualifications & experience: 

  • Previous project management experience within utility-scale ground mounted solar PV 
  • Experience in reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes
  • Previous exposure to H&S, budget and programme responsibility
  • Qualified at HNC level; relevant industry training (SMSTS, CDM, IOSH)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal with client, supply chain and employees
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to multi-task 
  • Flexible approach to working, willing to travel; full driving licence

Mobile Junior BMS Engineer

Equans is looking for two Mobile Junior BMS Engineers to join our Smart Buildings business. One covering Southern England and the other covering the North on a permanent, full-time basis.

Smart Building have a very exciting opportunity to deliver critical Building Management System (BMS) Infrastructure upgrades / enhancements across a number of commercial, retail, healthcare, education & government sectors - across the country. In doing so we naturally prime the sites to become ‘Smart enabled’, meaning we can then introduce further value across sites via our IoT solutions; driving social, economic and environmental benefits to portfolios of sites and more importantly people operating and living within them.

Smart buildings currently deliver project works ranging from £10k - £1.5m in singular size + variations via an evolving blend of inhouse delivery supplemented by a selection of specialist supply chain partners. With an aggressive growth strategy over the next 3 – 5 years, this role will be paramount in helping to define shape and grow the team to ensure we grow sustainably.

You will provide a professional delivered service to each job within your patch, ensuing any risks & issues are identified and correctly mitigated aiming to ensure all works are delivered safely on time and in budget as a minimum.

You'll utilise your enthusiasm and hunger for success to deliver excellent results in your business area with a continual focus on the end customer to ensure we deliver and maximise growth in each project we accepting, turning projects into partnered accounts.

Key activities:

  • Pre commissioning/installation/support of BEMS and Control systems in line with Customer design requirements and those outlined by the Project Engineer / Commissioning Engineer, within agreed timescales.
  • Supporting and maintaining a collaborative working environment with internal & external customers and stakeholders including the more junior resources that may require buddying support
  • Validating the software strategies and graphics created by the dedicated applications resource
  • Set up baseline wiring to points, material installation & checks / balances before we turn a panel live
  • Provide technical support to other trades and sub-contractors
  • Carry out trouble shooting to diagnose system defects.
  • Involvement with customer’s validation processes and execution as part of Commissioning works and Project handover procedures
  • Maintaining cleanliness to ensure health and safety standards on-site 
  • Accurately report progress to the Project Engineer to maintain communicational commitments

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • A recognised construction qualification (NVQ Level 5, HNC / HND or higher in a Construction, Infrastructure or engineering related discipline such as building, electrical and/or mechanical service)
  • Have experience operating as an Engineer within the BEMS & Building Controls industries in the UK marketplace with strong technical understanding of industry leading systems including Siemens, Trend, Tridium systems as a minimum.
  • You’ll also have experience in BEMS and Control systems of Siemens PX range, Trend IQ4 range of controls and / or Tridium.
  • You’ll have experience of Siemens Desigo CC and Trend IQ Vision including full integration of M-Bus, Modbus, Bacnet protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills and report writing are essential to maintain strong relationships with all team members and customers.
  • You’ll have great interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to deliver to deadlines.
  • Ability to think laterally and creatively to develop innovative solutions to challenges and identify opportunities for improvement and advantage.

Solutions Manager

EQUANS is looking for a Solutions Manager to join our team in Central London on a hybrid, permanent and full time basis. On offer is a competitive salary of £45,000 - £65,000, company vehicle or allowance and benefits package. Must be open to travel. 

The Energy and Carbon Solutions (ECS) consulting division provides an initial engagement that helps shape our new and existing client’s operational plans to deliver their net zero objectives. What differentiates us from many of our competitors in the consulting space is our ability to transition these plans into engineering management programmes through our wider project delivery and operations teams. Our team is therefore composed of commercially minded engineers who are able to create and present attractive solutions that have the potential to be delivered by Equans as a turnkey net zero partner.

We work with a wide range of clients including manufacturing, industry, corporate, commercial, retail, heritage and transport bodies, as well as a significant footprint in the public sector. 

What will you deliver?

Accountabilities

  • Supporting effective team and project management, including project completion timelines, project costs and profitability, and ensuring client needs are met

  • Develop complex and dynamic numerical models of engineering and commercial aspects of energy project feasibility

Who are we looking for?

Qualifications or Required Experience:

  • Technical knowledge of implementing energy solutions, and a firm understanding of building, commercial or industrial and manufacturing engineering services
  • Energy related engineering or applied science degree
  • At least 3 years of applicable energy and carbon experience with strong interpersonal, presentation and time management skills
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial modelling depth in two or more disciplines:
  • decarbonisation of heat
  • renewable energy
  • energy management and retrofit, industrial energy management
  • energy driven BMS, controls and analytics
  • net zero carbon programme delivery
  • district heating
  • energy & carbon data analytics
  • Confident and articulate in presenting technical and commercial cases to customers at management/decision maker level
  • Experience of presenting to organisations and individuals, both orally and in writing, information and complex technical issues and potential solutions in a clear and concise manner
  • Problem resolution and critical thinking skills
  • Capacity to mobilise and engage people, capacity to develop and leverage your network
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and matrix management organisations on major projects and programmes

Based in Welwyn, Cambridge, or Central London, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless integration and performance of our renewable energy projects.

As a SCADA Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

Project Handover Management: Lead the handover of projects to clients by coordinating activities and meticulously managing the collation and quality control of output documentation.

Design Excellence: Review contractual Employer's Requirements and Specifications to inform system design, ensuring it aligns with our clients' needs.

Procurement Support: Collaborate with our Procurement team by providing guidance on processes and procedures for sourcing solutions.

System Architecture: Define and review SCADA system architecture, coordinating essential interfaces with subsystems such as DNO and customer substations, SCADA suppliers, and PPC suppliers to ensure smooth operations and compliance with industry norms, regulations, and contractual obligations.

Communication Systems: Design and define communication systems architecture, coordinating interfaces with various subsystems, including LAN, cybersecurity requirements, and bandwidth requirements.

Comprehensive Documentation: Prepare detailed design documents, including communications and signals matrices, calculation notes, signal lists, IP mapping, external gateway signal lists, cable connection schedules, and block diagrams.

On-Site Expertise: Assist with on-site activities related to monitoring equipment and SCADA system implementation, commissioning, and operation to guarantee optimal performance.

Contractual Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all relevant contractual requirements, safeguarding the success of each project.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

Electrical Engineering Background: Hold a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering to provide the technical expertise required for this role.
