We have a great opportunity for a Commissioning Manager to join our highly successful Energy Solutions business; primarily supporting our renewable energy projects.
Our Energy Solutions business oversee major renewable EPC projects across the UK. We design, install, commission and operate large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint.
Alongside our solar farm projects we are involved in delivering a wide range of energy solutions to secure a more sustainable future.
Key activities
The role will involve managing all aspects of the testing and commissioning process as well the interface with relevant stakeholders for the Company’s pipeline of solar PV EPC projects as well as potentially other energy generating technologies and related projects.
- To lead, on site and off site, all testing and commissioning activities in solar farms being delivered by the Company by managing internal and external resources required in order to perform all testing and commissioning activities..
- Prepare testing and commissioning plans and test procedures, outlining requirements (time, resources, equipment as well particular conditions to be satisfied) and test deliverables, associated method statements and risk assessments.
- Review test results against agreed contractual and normative criteria and to organise remedial activities if and where required, including the investigations, diagnosis and troubleshooting that may occasionally be required.
- Compile test reports in accordance with contractual requirements and applicable normative references.
- Provide input to project management, design, engineering, procurement to ensure that appropriate commissioning requirements are incorporated into all related activities in order to ensure operability, safety and performance.
- To provide asset performance, simulation, measurement and verification as well as reporting of PV plant performance for assets in commissioning phase and to initialise any required remediation.
- To keep abreast of technological and commercial market developments and to inform senior management of any salient innovation.
- Ensure the consistent high quality of services through management of and interface with third parties, sub-contractors as well as in-house resources.
- To effectively manage supply chain, to ensure supply chain audits are conducted and appropriate action plans put in place for improvements. To develop a professional relationship with key supply chain partners to ensure high quality service delivery for the Client.
- Implement the company’s corporate strategies, especially in the context of optimising financial performance, Quality Assurance requirements, Health & Safety good practice and statutory compliance.
Skills, qualifications & experience
- Must have previous experience of commissioning large scale Solar PV farms or other energy related projects
- Knowledge and experience of G99 and HV
- Solar PV operations & maintenance experience (O&M)
- Flexible approach with the ability to travel across various sites within the UK and working away from home

Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Equans has a new opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within our Equans Digital business unit that currently delivers critical Building Management System (BMS) Infrastructure upgrades / enhancements across a number of commercial, retail, healthcare, education & government sectors - across the country. In doing so we naturally prime the sites to become ‘Smart enabled’, meaning we can then introduce further value across sites via our IoT solutions; driving social, economic and environmental benefits to portfolios of sites and more importantly people operating and living within them.
Role overview
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support commercial delivery across several contracts, working closely with the lead Quantity Surveyor and the projects and operational teams within Smart Buildings. This will predominantly be achieved through robust risk and opportunity management along with a focus on compliance, both contractually and procedurally, to ensure that all projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Key activities
- Financial Reporting
- Support the creation of the project cost variance reports and subsequent reviews of the same by senior members of the projects team.
- Support the creation of forecasts (final position and cash flow).
- An understanding of a project budget from which to track and ensure compliance.
- Estimating
- Ability to develop estimates with input from key subject matter experts, including taking site measures where appropriate.
- Ability to support the creation of key records such as tender documents and bills of quantities.
- Ability to feed into risk analysis and the identification of value management opportunities during pre-contract stages.
- Commercial Negotiation
- Support and manage the end-to-end payment processes, complaint with the Construction Act, with experience in preparing and reviewing key documents such as applications for payment, payment notices and pay less notices.
- Competent in the issuing of formal notifications with support of line management.
- Ability to identify matters which may lead to a dispute and support the management of any such risk(s).
- Support the development of Procurement Schedules and project plans.
- Contract knowledge
- A general understanding of a model form contract (i.e. JCT/MF1/NEC etc).
- Ability to identify the most appropriate form of contract for the given use.
- Assist in the process to draft a contract, with support from line management.
- Ability to interpret and enforce contracts.
- Ability to support the site team on how to adhere to contract terms/ mechanisms.
Skills, qualifications & experience
- Either be a qualified or working towards becoming a qualified Quantity Surveyor
- Solid experience of working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
- Comfortable with feeding into and advising on commercial strategy.
- Ability to maintain and apply a good understanding of business objectives in all aspects of the role.
- Experience of working with industrial installation projects, experience of site working preferrable.
- Ability to liaise with site teams, external parties and contractors to discuss the progress of the project and to address any issues that may arise.
- Strong & confident communicator able to successfully engage and influence at all levels of the organisation as well as with external contractors and suppliers to organize the phases of project development.
- Ability to present information in a concise manner, both orally and written.
- Experience of working in a quality led environment, with full adherence to systems and procedures, and a focus on continual improvement for all Smart Buildings projects.
- Ability to identify, monitor, mitigate and manage project and operational risks.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Equans Energy Solutions is a market leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor focussed on the energy transition. As a Senior Electrical Engineer within this team you will play a key role in the end-to-end delivery of our projects by providing electrical technical leadership during engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. Your focus will be on BESS, electrolytic hydrogen and PV projects with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the UK’s decarbonisation efforts.
Key activities
As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for electrical engineering and design on our BESS, PV and Hydrogen projects as well as technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the electrical system design for energy projects, including HV/LV distribution systems, protection schemes, and control systems
- Develop single-line diagrams, protection coordination studies, and detailed design drawings
- Perform power system studies including load flow, fault current, and stability analysis
- Prepare, review and approve electrical equipment specifications and vendor documentation
- Ensure compliance with UK grid codes, G99, and relevant standards
- Prepare detailed technical specifications for major electrical equipment including transformers, power conversion systems, protection relays, and control systems
- Support with the development of tender packages and scope of work documents for electrical contractors
- Lead technical bid evaluations and contractor selection process
- Conduct site inspections to promote our Safety-First culture and ensure quality of installation
- Act as Electrically Authorised Person (EAP) and support training of other EAPs
- Review and respond to technical queries and contractor RFIs
- Review and approve as-built documentation
- Develop detailed commissioning specifications and acceptance criteria
- Oversee pre-commissioning checks and testing activities
Skills, qualifications & experience
Education:
- BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred
- Authorised person HV | LV qualification or similar preferred
Experience:
- Solid experience in electrical system design
- Demonstrable experience with BESS &/or hydrogen (both preferred)
- Strong background in HV systems (11kV-132kV) design and protection
- Proven track record in managing subcontractors and reviewing deliverables
- Experience with UK grid compliance and connection requirements
- Experience in equipment factory testing and inspection
- Understanding of commissioning protocols for HV/LV systems
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in power system analysis software
- Strong knowledge of electrical CAD software
- Understanding of IEC 61850 and relevant communication protocols
- Experience with protection relay coordination
- Familiarity with energy management systems and grid services

- Carrying out maintenance checks on Trend, Tridium and Distech BMS’s on our various sites.

EV Project Manager
Equans is looking for a Project Manager - EV Charge point to join our team working from home with some additional national travel. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
The Project Manager will ensure the safe and profitable delivery of both public and workplace EV charging infrastructure through sub-contractors, EV Chargepoint manufacturers and supply chain.
They will support the design and installation of electric vehicle charging equipment for commercial and public sector clients across the UK and deliver against targets in a safe and responsible manner.
What will you deliver?
- Ensure the health and safety of the team and sub-contractors is closely monitored and full compliance with Equans Management System
- Ensure full compliance with CDM through Equans Management System
- Meet clients and, if required, support or carry out technical surveys on proposed installation locations or identify key locations for deployment
- Support the team in liaising with ICP/DNOs, back end system design, electrical design, installation specification and equipment specification
- Cost management and reconciliation through PO/ Invoice procedures, ensuring projects are delivered on time and budget
- Customer liaison
- Good problem solving skills and able to rectify quickly and effectively on sites.
- Build a close working relationship with clients and contractor account managers who will assist with day-to-day enquiries
- Complete project planning and management, client liaison and management of site operatives
- Installation crew management and support

Mobile BMS Engineer
Equans is looking for a Mobile BMS Engineer to join our Digital business, covering Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas on a full time basis.
Equans Digital has a very exciting opportunity to deliver critical Building Management System (BMS) Infrastructure upgrades / enhancements across a number of commercial, retail, healthcare, education & government sectors - across the country. In doing so we naturally prime the sites to become ‘Smart Enabled’, meaning we can then introduce further value across sites via our IoT solutions; driving social, economic and environmental benefits to portfolios of sites and more importantly people operating and living within them.
Equans Digital currently deliver project works ranging from £10k - £1.5m in singular size + variations via an evolving blend of inhouse delivery supplemented by a selection of specialist supply chain partners. With an aggressive growth strategy over the next 3 – 5 years, this role will be paramount in helping to define shape and grow the team to ensure we grow sustainably.
Key activities:
The role of BMS Service Engineer will include carrying out a number of tasks on contracted customer sites, including PFI Schools, PFI Hospitals, Government Estates and MOD sites. Your day to day will include:
- Installing, configuring and BMS components and equipment, including sensors, controllers, actuators, and software systems.
- Carrying out maintenance checks on Trend, Tridium and Distech BMS’s on our various sites.
- Reactive call out rota will be worked (additional financial benefit included for being on call and attending)
- Provision of specialist technical assistance and support to clients regarding their BMS systems.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement/remedial works to improve the performance of the BMS’s for our clients
- Preparing proposals and quoting of works as required
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- City & Guild / BTEC / NVQ Electrical.
Extensive knowledge & experience of BMS / HVAC. - Knowledge & experience with Trend, Tridium Controls/Niagara/Distech/Siemens.
- Excellent working knowledge of the electrical industry.
- Ability to read and interpret Electrical & Mechanical schematic diagrams.
- Understanding of IT networks
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Full UK driving licence
- Controls training / experience.
- Experience with fault finding in electrical panels
- DBS vetting and potential BPSS vetting
- Excellent written and communication skills
