Solar Farm Site Manager

We have a great opportunity for a Site Manager to oversee major renewable EPC projects across the UK.  We design, install, commission and operate large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

Alongside our solar farm projects we are involved in delivering a wide range of energy solutions to secure a more sustainable future.

Please note that when working away from home you will be provided with hotel accommodation and additional expenses whilst working away from home. The postholder will also have access to a company vehicle. Salary £60,000 before package.

Key Activities:

  • Ensuring that all work is carried out to contract specifications with regard to the quality of work, time scales, costs and is authorised and documented in accordance with company procedures 
  • Planning resource appropriately to ensure maximum utilisation of human resource (including travel costs and time) and minimise cost of materials and equipment to provide a cost-effective service 
  • Ensuring that all members of staff directly or indirectly employed under your direction carry out their duties in a safe manner, in compliance to the companies Health and Safety Policy and in particular that of any site specific risk assessment 
  • Being responsible for the consistent project delivery including robust, high-quality services through management of the operational teams 
  • Implementing corporate strategies, especially in the context of financial performance (profitability, overhead minimisation, positive cash flow, improved financial ratios, etc.) 
  • Being responsible for contractual performance in line with approved budgets, key performance indicators, performance monitoring systems, output specifications and contractual requirements 
  • Effectively managing supply chain to the project in a cost-effective way 
  • Building and maintaining partnership relationships with the client representatives and managers 
  • Recruiting, developing, and motivating operational staff to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and customer service and efficient delivery

Skills, qualifications & experience: 

  • Previous project management experience within utility-scale ground mounted solar PV 
  • Experience in reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes
  • Previous exposure to H&S, budget and programme responsibility
  • Qualified at HNC level; relevant industry training (SMSTS, CDM, IOSH)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal with client, supply chain and employees
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to multi-task 
  • Flexible approach to working, willing to travel; full driving licence

Quality Engineer

Our highly successful renewable energy business has a great opportunity for an Engineer or Site Technician looking for a new challenge. 

The role is for a Quality Engineer and will involve being responsible for performing and recording site quality inspections and tests. These site inspections will focus on solar farms that are currently under construction covering the Midlands, Yorkshire, Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and North Wales. A vehicle will be provided for this position given this is a mobile role.

Key activities:

  • Perform inspections & tests of all elements of the construction, as directed by Site Quality Leaders.
  • Use pre-defined electronic checklists to record inspections & tests
  • Record snags on a project snag register
  • Report progress of quality checks to Site Quality Leaders
  • Work outside in various weather and ground conditions
  • Perform checks to ensure that snags have been remedied and closed
  • Contribute to rigorous compliance with onsite Health & Safety requirements
  • To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans
  • To comply with the Company’s Policies, Management Plans and Procedures
  • To undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Department / Service

Skills, qualifications & experience

Energy Engineering Consultant

EQUANS is looking for a Solutions Consultant to join our team on a permanent, hybrid and full time basis. On offer is a competitive salary of between £30,000 - £45,000 and benefits package.

The Energy and Carbon Solutions (ECS) consulting division provides an initial engagement that helps shape our new and existing client’s operational plans to deliver their net zero objectives. What differentiates us from many of our competitors in the consulting space is our ability to transition these plans into engineering management programmes through our wider project delivery and operations teams. Our team is therefore composed of commercially minded engineers who are able to create and present attractive solutions that have the potential to be delivered by Equans as a turnkey net zero partner.

What will you deliver? 

The Solutions Consultant will have the primary focus of delivering professional consultative services in low carbon and energy solutions that enable net zero transitions for our clients in the Public and private sectors.

Under the leadership of a Senior Solutions Manager, the Solutions Consultant will support the consulting team to effectively manage opportunities from conception through handover to the EQUANS project delivery divisions. They will support the ECS management team in delivering technically excellent work, building client relationships, forming effective partnerships with external consultants, suppliers, and partners – ultimately supporting the overall technical and commercial solution presented to clients.

  • Supporting effective team and project management, including project completion timelines, project costs and profitability, and ensuring client needs are met.

EQUANS is looking for a Senior Solutions Manager to join our team on a full time, permanent and hybrid basis. The candidate can be based anywhere in Britain, however they must be willing to go to either Manchester or London for Team meetings. On offer is a competitive salary banding of £60,000 - £80,000, company vehicle or allowance and benefits package.

Senior Finance Business Partner

EQUANS is looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join our team in London on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package. 

The Senior Finance Business Partner will work with the EQUANS Digital & Energy Services Finance Director to establish and maintain financial and management procedures, whilst formulating strategic plans for Smart Buildings product roadmap and long-term growth alongside the UKBU, D&ES and Smart Buildings management.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory and governance requirements and to provide financial advice, guidance and support to colleagues to enable them to make sound business decisions and meet the company’s objectives.  To lead the finance team to enable the smooth running of all finance & commercial processes, including procurement and accounts payable, cash collection and accounts receivable.  Supporting Smart Buildings Business Development with investment opportunities, through analysis and decision making (governance).

What will you deliver? 

Budget & Forecasting

  • Manage the preparation of the company budget and rolling forecasts, including monthly flash results, and monthly business performance reviews.
  • Report to management on variances from the established budget and rolling forecasts, and the reasons for those variances including reporting and KPI analysis.
  • Assist management with the formulation of overall strategic direction with EQUANS and Urban Energy management.
  • Assist the development team in the forecasting and budgeting of capital/renewals costs for products.
  • Formulating strategic and long-term business plans
  • Balance sheet management to ensure R&D investment is properly controlled and forecasted.

Financial Accounting & Audit

  • Supervise the company’s financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems.
  • Supervise the preparation and ensuring accuracy of the year end and monthly financial accounts and managing information.
  • Liaising with the auditors to ensure annual audits are completed on time and without error.
  • Supervise balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation
  • Liaising with EQUANS UK Shared Service Centre (SSC) finance team in preparing

Cash Management & Treasury

  • Forecast cash flow positions and any related borrowing needs.
  • Work with Treasury to ensure sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.
  • Maintaining banking needs

Financial & Commercial Leadership

  • Test the financial impact of proposed strategic objectives, validate the authenticity of forecasts, and clarify the full impact of cost savings.
  • Provide independent checks and challenge to bids, and ensure correct governance is followed.
  • Assist with coaching junior staff in financial and commercial awareness.
  • Oversee the extension of credit to customers.
  • Ensuring internal Group procurement systems and procedures are followed.

Equans Embedded Generation operates multiple customer sites with large-scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. Key activities

The Administration Assistant will support all teams on site in order to ensure site is able to operate to its full potential. This support will include procurement, reporting, processing of timesheets/overtime & general office duties.

  • First point of contact on site for procurement queries. Deal with invoicing, Purchase Orders (POs) and payment queries. Raise POs and One Time Vendors on Coupa to suit site needs.
  • Support Operations manager with reporting requirements. Responsible for monthly waste management recording. Gather data from various site specific systems such as EDS & CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) to feed into operational reports.
  • Support Operations manager with document control. Filing of delivery notes, assisting with compilation and review of site Risk Assessments and operating procedures.
  • Manage the issue and ordering of PPE.
  • Support site team with travel arrangement, processing of timesheets and overtime.
  • Support Operations manager with management of training and training matrix.
  • Liaise with the client, contractors and suppliers when on site.

  • High level of communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Computer literate (Office 365).

BMS Pre-Commissioning Engineer

Equans is looking for a Pre-Commissioning Engineer within our Equans Digital business unit providing Smart Building / IoT solutions within the public and private sector.

Smart buildings currently deliver project works ranging from £10k - £1.5m in singular size + variations via an evolving blend of inhouse delivery supplemented by a selection of specialist supply chain partners. With an aggressive growth strategy over the next 3 – 5 years, this role will be paramount in helping to define shape and grow the team to ensure we grow sustainably.

Key activities

  • Support the pre commissioning and the installation of BEMS and control systems in line with customer design requirements and those outlined by the Project Engineer / Commissioning Engineer, within agreed timescales.
  • Support and maintain a collaborative working environment with internal & external customers and stakeholders including the more junior resources that may require buddying support
  • Validate the software strategies and graphics created by the dedicated applications resource
  • Set up baseline wiring to points, material installation & checks / balances before we turn a panel live
  • Provide technical support to other trades and sub-contractors
  • Carry out trouble shooting to diagnose system defects.
  • Involvement with customer’s validation processes and execution as part of Commissioning works and Project handover procedures
  • Maintaining cleanliness to ensure health and safety standards on-site

Skills, qualifications & experience

 

  • Will need solid experience operating as a pre commissioning Engineer within the BEMS & Building Controls industries in the UK marketplace with strong technical understanding of industry leading systems including Siemens, Trend, Tridium systems as a minimum.
  • You’ll also have experience in pre-commissioning BEMS and Control systems of Siemens PX range, Trend IQ4 range of controls and / or Tridium.
  • You’ll have experience of Siemens Desigo CC and Trend IQ Vision including full integration of M-Bus, Modbus, Bacnet protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills and report writing are essential to maintain strong relationships with all team members and customers.
  • A recognised construction qualification (NVQ Level 5, HNC / HND or higher in a Construction, Infrastructure or engineering related discipline such as building, electrical and/or mechanical service)

Retrofit Coordinator

EQUANS is looking for a Retrofit Coordinator to join our team in  Manchester on a permanent basis. This is a fulltime role working Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

Responsible for the management of the retrofit assessment and coordination process, including Survey Software Tool Development, Customer Journey and Trustmark Compliance on both survey and technical solutions.

This position is a crucial role to enable EQUANS to continue to deliver energy efficiency schemes in accordance with PAS2035 process, and in turn access funding schemes such as SHDF, LAD and ECO for our partners at scale.

 

What will you deliver? 

  • To have full responsibility for the overall management and delivery of the PAS2035 process, including assessment, design, installation and handover and monitoring, as defined in PAS processes.
  • Manage the retrofit survey process throughout the central region (Midlands), ensuring high standards of quality and compliance throughout the process
  • Work with Sustainability Manager & central Sustainability Team in establishing EQUANS as the partner of choice in energy efficiency retrofit solutions through SHDF, LAD, ECO and any other available funding streams.
  • Provide accurate and effective energy modelling using RdSAP and full SAP, and provide guidance on solutions for meeting specific scheme criteria.
  • Delivery against specific objectives and targets on retrofit schemes.
  • Manage the PAS2035 lodgement process  on trustmatk in accordance with main contract delivery programmes to allow timely draw down of funding.
  • Ensure that the entire end to end surveying process and customer journey provides the highest standards for both our ‘traditional customers’ (RSLs, LAs etc) as well at the end user customers (House Owners, tenants etc)
  • Ensure that the surveying of schemes exceeds targets in terms of survey quality, maximising outputs, and compliance with Trustmark
  • Be the main technical point of contact for Retrofit Coordination and energy modelling and manage relationship with key client stakeholders delighting and exceeding customers expectations
  • Work closely with operational teams to maintain timely and accurate survey information and specification solutions
  • Set up, implement and work with external survey partners on delivering retrofit surveys.
  • Work closely with external solution providers and designers to ensure high quality technical solutions to be passed on to delivery teams
  • Implement and manage an audit programme on both internal and external Assessors to ensure high standards of surveys
  • Assist the Bid Team on quality submissions for tenders ensuring that high standards of technical and process solutions of conveyed
  • Provide a single source of technical knowledge and leadership for the business unit.
  • Disseminate regular updates and briefings to teams, in line with technical developments.

Role summary
