Contracts Manager

EQUANS are recruiting for a Contracts Manager to be based in Greater Manchester. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance, bonus and benefits package.

General Overview

To effectively, plan, manage and control several concurrently programmed decarbonization Projects across the region, ensuring in the best interest of the company close adherence to the following; Health and safety, Budgeted expense, Quality, Company policies and procedures, Contract documentation.  To oversee operational activities across a number of sites with various Clients in the region, covering all activities from pre-commencement to completion with dedicated project teams under your direction.  To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure that all those reporting to you do so.

Key Accountabilities

Within the Business

  • Promote the Company Mission and participate in Company Training and Development.
  • Deliver projects safely, on time and on budget.
  • Implementation and management of the Company SHEQ policy/strategy across all projects.
  • To build up relationships with site teams, office staff, clients and their representatives.
  • Continue personal professional development.

You will be responsible for managing multiple project, ensuring all statutory and contractual obligations are met.

Excellent organisational and time management skills are essential to keep track of critical dates, requirements, and paperwork.

You will ensure EQUANS SHEQ strategy / policies and implemented and effectively managed, creating and maintaining filing systems to store all project documentation, in line with Equans Policy and procedures.

You must be able to explain contractual terms and conditions clearly to all parties.

You will also need to negotiate with contractors and clients to resolve any issues that arise.

Strong written communication is also important for composing legally compliant correspondence, and reports.

You must be able to evaluate the situation objectively, determine the root cause, and develop a remedy that satisfies all parties involved while minimizing impacts to cost and schedule.

It is important to operate with integrity, honesty and high ethical standards at all times

Experience

 

  • Successful track record of construction project delivery – effectively several concurrently programmed projects. Public Sector decarbonisation / retrofit projects experience is desirable.
  • People management.

SHEQ Manager

As a SHEQ Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing operational safety, health, environment, and quality within our DES projects, covering Energy Solutions, Smart Buildings, Connected Cities, Embedded Energy, and EV. While you can be based in either our London or Birmingham office, you will work flexibly across our sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee SHEQ management across designated business unit operational areas, ensuring adherence to external and internal standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the head of SHEQ, other SHEQ Managers, and Central SHEQ to maintain robust systems meeting statutory and Equans obligations.
  • Ensure accurate recording of all reportable data (Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, HiPos, LTI’s, Incidents, LSV/MSV) and provide coaching where necessary.
  • Develop and implement SHEQ Action Plans for each contract, fostering safer workplaces and enhancing employee engagement.
  • Utilize findings from SHEQ Audits to improve safety and quality, providing guidance and feedback to enhance processes and systems.
  • Mentor Safety Ambassadors and Responsible Business Champions, promoting a culture aligned with Equans' values and objectives.
  • Facilitate training initiatives and lead investigations, ensuring comprehensive reports and recommendations to prevent future incidents.
  • Support internal functions to ensure appropriate systems and resources are in place to manage risks effectively.
  • Foster strategic relationships with regulatory bodies and industry forums.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience: 

  • NVQ 5/Diploma Level in Health and Safety management or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience working within a SHEQ team.
  • Solid experience in construction, renewables, or project management sectors.
  • Proficiency in conducting complex systems audits, both internal and external.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK legislation related to SHEQ.
  • Ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively within a team.

Sustainability Partnership Manager

EQUANS is looking for a Sustainability Partnership Manager to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

The main purpose of the job is to work closely with Birmingham City Council to develop and deliver on their housing decarbonisation strategy. Assessing their stock and working closely with the wider Equans and BCC team to develop retrofit schemes and funding proposals from conception through to delivery.

 

What will you deliver? 

  • Be the key point of contact for Birmingham City Council on the development of all domestic housing decarbonisation schemes.
  • Lead on the development of Retrofit Schemes including assessment of stock, development of viable technical solutions in line with required outputs, and development of funding solutions.
  • Providing guidance and support to operational teams ensuring all Retrofit/Sustainability schemes are delivered in line with funding and technical compliance i.e. PAS 2030:2019, PAS 2035:2019, MCS etc, working closely with Central Sustainability Team to ensure compliance.
  • Be the ‘BCC expert’ on Energy Efficiency and Retrofit, ensuring the Senior Leadership Teams are kept up to date on market opportunities to drive the Business Plan.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of opportunities on order to deliver in line with Regional Business Plan Targets.

Quantity Surveyor


EQUANS is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Hatfield, this is a full time permanent role.  On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance and benefits package. 

We have scattered properties across Brent and Wembley you will be visiting therefor a driving license is required.

This role is to work as part of our refurbishment team on social housing properties, you will be working on Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) works. You will be responsible for managing your own jobs working on projects of circa 5 million.

We are looking for someone to begin their career with Equans and progress in their role. We would consider a strongly established Project QS looking to progress into a QS.

 

What will you deliver? 

    • Management and control of subcontract orders, accounts and variation accounts in line with the main contract and sub-contract data base
    • Post-tender internal and external pricing analysis/assessment for sign-off whilst ensuring within budget
    • Conduct contract risk and opportunity assessment to identify these areas and plan for them accordingly to ensure pricing remains on budget without undermining Health and Safety.
    • Manage subcontractor and professional services selection for new schemes, ensure the chosen contractor has the appropriate order and information to carry out their work, and helping to prepare procurement schedules liaising with legal counsel as required regarding contractual information (collateral warranties, PCG’s, etc)
    • Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designated projects.
    • Commercial reporting / CVRs completed independently to be submitted for MQS approval
    • Logical and auditable preparation of relevant documentation for valuation, procurement and commercial administration
