EQUANS is looking for a Local Transport Plan Assistant to join our team in Grimsby on a permanent basis. This is a fulltime role working Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

EQUANS is North East Lincolnshire Council’s long-term Regeneration Partner delivering a number of services on their behalf, including the Highways & Transport Service. This role is required to support the Senior Transport Policy Officer, to ensure the effective development of highways and transport strategies and the administration of an annual programme of traffic, transport, road safety and highway maintenance schemes.  The LTP Assistant will carry out duties to support the development of the Council’s new Local Transport Plan strategy document and the effective administration and delivery of the annual LTP programme of schemes.

You will assist in the delivery of the Transport Team’s day to day functions and the development of North East Lincolnshire Council’s Local Transport Plan strategy.  Key requirement will be to provide clear and effective communications (both written and verbal), the ability to carry out research concerning national and regional transport policy and to investigate examples and areas of good practice.    

You will report to the Senior Transport Officer and will contribute ideas for the delivery of the service improvement and efficiency. 

 

What will you deliver? 

  • To support the development of North East Lincolnshire Council’s Local Transport Plan Strategy.
  • Support the commissioning of external consultants including the preparation of tender documents, purchase orders and invoicing. 
  • Dealing with internal and external stakeholders responding to a range of enquiries relating to strategy development and programme delivery.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of internal and external stakeholder workshops and public consultation events in line with agreed standards.
  • Conduct research into best practice.
  • Assist with data collection exercises including undertaking and analysing surveys and technical data and presenting results in a variety of formats.
  • Maintain a LTP programme delivery spreadsheet and complete a monthly highlight report summarising delivery progress and performance.
  • To provide a welcoming customer service function and maintain a polite and professional manner at all times.
  • Identify and highlight project risks, escalating to others when appropriate.
  • Process incoming correspondence at all levels and maintain a log of project related enquiries such as those from formal Customer Requests. Track progress and ensure response is within prescribed timescales.
  • Create purchase orders and process invoices and monthly accounts, maintain budgetary records and assist in the preparation of monthly and other financial reporting.
  • Support the Senior Transport Officer in contributing to the development, maintenance and organisational / overall understanding of the Local Transport Plan strategy.

  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature and at a similar level of responsibility to those described, which may be allocated from time to time to meet service delivery needs.

Who are we looking for? 

Essential: Experience, Knowledge, Personal Specification and Qualifications

 

  • GCSE pass at grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language (C)
  • Experience of dealing effectively with members of the public (A/I)
  • Experience of carrying out research projects (A/I)
  • Good team worker (A/I)
  • Ability to prioritise their own workload and work to deadlines under guidance (A/I)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (A/I)
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office, including using e-mail, Teams and electronic calendar (A/I)
  • Experience of working in a team to deliver a specific goal or target (A/I)
