Equans is looking for a Joiner to join our team at Heysham Power Station in Lancashire on a permanent basis for our EDF contract. This is a full time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

Job Description:
To build and repair wooden and related structures. This will include constructing, erecting, altering, repairing, and maintaining wooden doors, roofs, windows, furniture, cabinets, open plan offices, screens, frames, and other items using hand and power tools such as drills, jointers, sanders, saws, and other equipment of the carpentry trade. Enhanced duties may include removing walls, installing partitions and steps, altering rooms, or adding to existing structures using hand and power tools.

Technical Competence:
• Must demonstrate a methodical approach to tasks and plan accurately
• Able to follow technical drawings and plans
• Numerical ability for measuring and making calculations (material estimates and measurements)
• Knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance
• Knowledge of the safe operation of basic hand and power tools

Industry Qualifications:
• City & Guilds Carpentry Course 6217(Desirable)
• Recognised Apprenticeship (Mandatory)

Planning & Organising
• Work with appropriate line supervisors to ensure that tasks are planned and delivered to client specification and agreed service requirements.
• Plan and prioritise work
• Shows clear understanding of role objectives and responsibilities.
• Work schedules and projects are prioritised appropriately and delivered on time.
• An ability to work under pressure taking ownership of all delegated tasks ensuring that all work is of a high standard.

Operational Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H/S and Environmental regulations
• Provide out of hours cover where required
• Complete relevant paperwork
• Compliant with all safety related policies and procedures
• Identification and reporting of areas and procedures that fail to meet expected standards (Safety, Technical and Environmental)
• Appropriate risk assessments undertaken on all work.
• Rectifies problems where appropriate (ensuring that the correct procedures are followed)
• All paperwork completed (permits, reports and work order cards) is accurate and submitted within set time scales.

Teamwork
• Establish good working relationships with other team members, provide guidance to others (e.g., apprentices)
• Willingly contribute to the overall team and company objectives, responding quickly to new directives
• Delivers/Contributes to pre-job briefs, exchanging ideas and putting forward suggestions to improve team performance.
• Positive feedback from other team members.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in a clear and concise manner. Interacting positively with the client and their representatives, proactively sharing information with others.

Health & Safety
• Reads and understands the relevant generic Risk Assessment
• Completes Point of work Risk Assessment
• Ensures appropriate PPE is worn/used and is good working order
• Ensures work area is protected using appropriate barriers/signs
• Ensures full training has been received for each aspect of the job
• Ensures work area is left safe on completion of the job
• Uses appropriate access equipment where necessary
