Mobile Technical Operative - Electrical

Equans is looking for a Mobile Technical Operative (Electrical) to join our team in Newcastle for our HMCTS contract on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
The primary purpose of the role is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of Electrical Buildings Services Engineering Assets, ensuring all activities are completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with the contracted output specifications and Equans processes and procedures. This includes Legionella control and monitoring activities.
-Ensure that routine PPM is carried out to the electrical infrastructure and plant in accordance with Site task schedules and CAFM. 
-Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made. 
-Ensure that plant faults and defects are always swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order.
-Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works. To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.
-Ensure that all relevant paperwork/CAFM is completed regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
-Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are always prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices.
-To develop a good working relationship with all members of Equans staff, subcontractors and the client representatives.
-Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To include the wearing of uniform and PPE at all times.
-Ensure the professional image of Equans is presented to clients at all times
-Ensure up to date plant logs are kept at all times
-Ensure that all plant rooms under the responsibility of Equans are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
-Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance.
-To arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns.
-To undertake lone working when and where required, subject to passing satisfactory training.
-Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.
-Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
-Ensure CAFM system, e.g. Maximo, is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
-To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with Equans Technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements (or approved client system).
-To carry out any other task as directed by the account management team.
-The position will require you to provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.

Client/Customer
•Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests
•Coordinate quotations with the contract manager 
•Production of information for quotations
 
Helpdesk - PPM 
•Support the Helpdesk as required when reporting or updating planned and reactive maintenance
•Be available for out of hours call-out support for the contract

Compliance 
•To gain Technical Appointments as required e.g. LVCP/LVAP/HVAP and to issue PTW to Subcontractors and Equans staff
•Ensure both self-delivered and subcontracted maintenance, testing and inspection activities are in compliance with the latest version of BS7671, ensuring that all remedials are carried out 
•Produce Condition / Dilapidation Reports as required
•Ensure supervisor is informed immediately if dangerous circumstances occur

SHEQ
•Comply with requests for information from SHEQ manager
•Ensure you work to company health and safety policy
•Ensue PPE is safe to use
•Report accident and near misses in a timely manner
•Ensure your test equipment is within calibration 
•Ensure you follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works

Impact:    
•Delivery of all specialist engineering services activities obligations under the Contract. 
•Plan, deliver and review all aspects relating to the provision of specialist engineering services carried out by internal engineering staff and subcontractors. 
•Implement operational policies and procedures in line with our contractual obligations. 
•Liaise with all Equans Engineers to ensure effective service delivery. 
•Support the Regional Tech Manager in the response to customer complaints in line with the Company’s Complaint Procedures. 
•Ensure that all specialist equipment /stores are held in safe and secure manner  
•Manage day to day running of the day and/or shift team. 
•Act as the first point of contact for all site HR issues. 

Complexity:  
•In general, the role will be required to complete the following (but not limited to):
•Fault finding, minor repairs and installation alongside general maintenance services.
•Ensure that specialist subcontractor service visits are completed efficiently, and quality of work has been inspected and recommendations are communicated to the management team
•Support other engineers and operatives in the region as and when required and liaise with other members of direct and indirect staff to carry out duties effectively and with minimal disruption
•While the role will be electrical biased, as the contracts plumber lead, there will be a need to join in with the wider team and undertake all spectrum of FM maintenance activities when required.
•Assist in the preparation of company reports, work sheets and support service level agreements and procedures as required
•Carry out duties within company safety policy and advise line manager of all situations which could affect the safety of people or property.
•You will need to have excellent communication skills at all levels, be happy to work unsupervised when needed and competent in the completion of statutory paperwork and documentation. 
•Helpdesk support is provided together via smart phone technology, with all specialist tool and equipment.
•Safety
•Comply with all the roles and responsibilities as set out within the SHEQ procedures, including.
•Ensure any risks, near misses, and incidents are reported to the management / SHEQ team immediately
•To risk assess each job upon arrival on a site-specific basis for your own and others safety
•To use appropriate safety equipment and clothing / uniform when completing all works for the safety of yourself and others
•Ensure all public protection measures are being taken and adhered to by yourself, residents and other members of the public
•Be responsible for your safety and others around you 

Qualifications or Required Experience:
•Desired Circa 5 years relevant experience working as an Electrician in an FM environment.
•City and Guilds -Electrical Engineering Services  NVQ Level 2 or higher.
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff
•Proactive in achieving the highest standard of operation
•Have good IT and report writing skills
•Ability to work under pressure whilst remaining calm, clear thinking and able to deliver the required services to the client within given time constraints.
•A high level of initiative, with drive to continuously improve the operation
•Advanced communication skills with a full understanding of customer needs & expectations
•Ability to comprehend and act upon both verbal and written instructions
•Enthusiasm and demonstration of pro-activity, diligence and alertness, with the willingness to participate in appropriate internal training programmes
•Integrity, honesty, and punctuality is a must Current and Valid Full & Clean UK driving license

Shift Electrician

Equans is looking for a Shift Electrician to join our team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and in addition you will receive an excellent shift allowance & benefits package. 

What will you deliver?

  • Working directly to the Electrical Supervisor, the post holder will have the required skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of mechanical, electrical engineering services and building plant as part of a flexible maintenance team, including specialist subcontractors to deliver work to the highest of standards for our clients.
  • The main responsibilities include efficiently and effectively performing electrical maintenance of all relevant assets. Work will be assigned from a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule or in response to a reactive work order raised by our client representatives or our own personnel on site. All planned and reactive tasks will be managed through to completion, including fault diagnosis and sourcing parts where applicable. Must be able to demonstrate that awareness of best working practices and that these are always followed. Additional duties to include, working and managing backlog works, assisting when required for specialist projects.
  • Working as part of a wider M&E team, there may be a requirement to undertake other tasks that may not be specifically related to electrical systems.

Who are we looking for?

  • Must have successfully completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship and have a proven experience in a similar role carrying out electrical maintenance duties.
  • Hospital maintenance experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Be competent to undertake/assist work on the type of building service systems and equipment for which the appointment is sought.
  • Be familiar with the type of systems and equipment on which work is required to be undertaken.
  • Possess technical knowledge and sufficient experience to avoid any danger that may be presented by the work to be undertaken.
  • Have an adequate knowledge of and within the preceding three years have received training in first aid (including CPR Training). If not held, training will be given.
  • Desirable but not essential to have some knowledge of all the relevant Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) and to work within Permit to Work procedures as appropriate SHTM 06 - 01, BSRIA, L8, pressure systems Regulations 2000, etc).
  • Must be able to obtain a Disclosure Scotland at a Basic Level

Maintenance Electrician

Equans is looking for 2x Maintenance Electricians to join our team in Blackburn on a permanent basis for our Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:  
Based at Royal Blackburn Hospital, the Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for 
The Maintenance Electrician will complete electrical and some mechanical engineering activities and undertake duties for which their trained and competent to do. There is a Technical Services management team based on site that can offer specialised technical advice and who can liaise with the appropriate levels of management to facilitate all works and activities are delivered and managed in accordance with all relevant regulations and guidance.
• Carries out electrical planned and reactive maintenance on all on site infrastructure.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with clients and develop excellent professional working relationship to ensure a smooth running of the business.
• Organise works allocated in a timely manner and work supportively with the team.
• Carry out operational activities in a manner that ensures personal safety and in a manner that does not endanger the safety of others.
• Ensure that Equans are able to meet their statutory and contractual obligations whilst simultaneously providing an excellent service to our customers.
• Diagnose, fault-find, commission systems, monitor and assess ongoing machine/facility performance, through Planned Preventive Maintenance programme, identifying any additional works required.
• Assist in installing, commissioning, and servicing plant, equipment and specialist healthcare/ patient equipment.
• At all times maintain a smart appearance and professional manner that is representative of EQUANS in the workplace.
• Carry out and assist in planned/reactive maintenance to on-site systems.
• Flexible working hours required which may include overtime working
• Participate in the on-call rota.
• Administer and complete relevant paperwork.
• Fair, consistent, and courteous attitude in all dealings at all levels.
• Ability to work under pressure, take ownership of problems and deal with them to their conclusion.
• Ensure that all issues are reported to the Technical Services Supervisor/ Technical Services Manager.

Impact:  
The individual will play a vital role to Equans, working alongside an already established technical team to ensure that the operations are legally and contractually compliant and represent excellence in service delivery. 

Complexity:
The primary complexities of the role are around the management of the workflow from helpdesk/ CAFM system through to completion and sign off.  We are looking for a driven individual to add expertise and dimension to the FM team. They will be able to demonstrate flexibility and efficiency in responding to changing business requirements and will establish good working relationships with their team members. Qualifications and Required Experience: 
• Apprentice trained and qualified/experienced in relevant trade (Electrical)
• Basic computer literate.

• Good knowledge of It based systems such as Microsoft Office and CAFM based hand held devices.
• Sound knowledge of the practical implementation of Health & Safety.
• Experience of working within a Healthcare environment desirable but not essential.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Electrical Craftsperson

Equans is looking for an Electrical Craftsperson to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
To undertake improvement work, maintenance and repairs of plant, services and physical assets including testing and routine fault finding.
• The responsibilities will be at the Acute PFI Hospital.
• To undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services to the NHS Trust.
• To carry out all works in compliance with EQUANS’s KPI’s and contract.

Impact:
This position has an important role within the workflow process; the person will be actively involved in developing detailed knowledge, and the maintenance of the core plant and equipment in the Acute PFI Hospital Building.

Complexity:
• Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to his/her own trade, without supervision.
• Set up New Work appropriate to his/her own trade using relevant tools, equipment and machinery, without supervision, as appropriate to his/her grade.
• After appropriate training, work off tower scaffolding, MEWP’s, ladders, and step ladders and within confined spaces.
• To carry out unsupervised maintenance and repairs and report any defects or unusual circumstances to the Supervisor.
• Requirement to learn new techniques with training as necessary.
• Scope of work will include entering departments containing service users undergoing various treatments/procedures after reporting to departmental staff. Occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances could be encountered.
• To understand the general working of the EQUANS Estate, so that work can be carried out in the most efficient manner, pro-active in developing new ways of working.
• To understand fully the inter-relationship between various maintenance crafts.
• To be contacted by radio and/or PDA to receive instructions. This can involve frequent disruption to work patterns.
• To be knowledgeable of and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations and all safety rules both EQUANS and Statutory.
• Produce, if necessary, list of materials to carry out remedial repairs or alterations to current task.
• Ensure all PPM and Reactive work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions and response and repair times.
• To maintain workshops and working environment in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
• To record information as required for the operation of Maximo or similar system.
• To understand the working of electrical systems within the EQUANS Estate.
• Diagnose and repair faults in engineering installation, plant and equipment. To deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others. To inform immediate Supervisors of any delays or difficulties encountered.
• To maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment as appropriate.
• To undertake any other duties as requested by Management, in order to comply with EQUANS’s contact and KPI’s
• Staff will be employed on work appropriate to their core specialist skill. They will however progressively be suitably trained to acquire elements of extra skills with the intention of reaching levels of flexibility and competence to enable them to achieve and apply the ability where required to perform the above. Pass knowledge gained to others.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
• Electrical Installation – Approved apprenticeship with either:
o City & Guild 236 Part 1, 2 & 3 Parts A, B, C or
o City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1, 2, 3 or
o City & Guilds 2330 Level 2, Level 3, (Level 4 – desirable) or
o City & Guilds 2560 (2357) – Diploma
• 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS 7671 – 2018 Amendment)
• HTM-06-(02)(03) Competent Person for LV

Maintenance Electrician

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Electrician to join our maintenance team working at two University of Cambridge research and teaching facilities in Cambridge city centre working 40 hours per week from 07:30 to 16:00. Monday to Friday.  This is a foot mobile role across the two buildings on the site. 

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the M&E Supervisor
  • To provide the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of electrical services plant and equipment

  • Investigate, trouble shoot and rectify defects for all electrical systems and associated plant/components or if unable to do so, arrange specialist external staff or subcontractors

  • To participate in the Appointed Persons role for an identified discipline

Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team in Ipswich, Suffolk on a permanent basis for our EDF contract. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

Mobile Electrician

What will you deliver?

  • Conduct routine PPM on electrical infrastructure and plant per site task schedules and CAFM system.
  • Promptly address and resolve plant faults and defects to maintain serviceable order.
