Shift Electrician

EQUANS are recruiting for a Shift Electrician to be based at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. On offer is a competitive salary, substantial shift allowance and benefits package.

General Overview

Working directly to the Electrical Supervisor, the post holder will have the required skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of mechanical, electrical engineering services and building plant as part of a flexible maintenance team, including specialist subcontractors to deliver work to the highest of standards for our clients.

The main responsibilities include efficiently and effectively performing electrical maintenance of all relevant assets. Work will be assigned from a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule or in response to a reactive work order raised by our client representatives or our own personnel on site. All planned and reactive tasks will be managed through to completion, including fault diagnosis and sourcing parts where applicable. Must be able to demonstrate that awareness of best working practices and that these are always followed. Additional duties to include, working and managing backlog works, assisting when required for specialist projects.

Working as part of a wider M&E team, there may be a requirement to undertake other tasks that may not be specifically related to electrical systems.

Key Accountabilities

  • Actively participate in the operation and control of all engineering planned maintenance schemes and undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities to plant and non-medical equipmen
  • During training and under supervision, you will undertake fault finding on complex medical gas systems, low pressure heating water systems, critical systems and equipment and pressurized steam systems. Using cause effect analysis and detailed examination to gain a solution and use of all relevant drawings and schematics.
  • During training and under supervision, carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections and commission and test in accordance with published procedur
  • Complete all report sheets and test certificates as necessary and mark up any drawing alteratio

Complete all Task/Risk Assessment sheets relating to work.

  • Use of all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works ensuring full compliance with Equans Guidelines and Controls g. Risk Assessment, Site Safety, Fire Safety, Control of Infection and Hazardous Substances.
  • During training and under supervision, carry out emergency repairs as required (which may require overtime).
  • Obligation to undertake training where necessary to learn new techniques and technology.
  • Understand the relationship of other maintenance crafts to this rol
  • Monitors the building services and report defects to the Technical Supervis
  • Provide feedback on PPM results in relation to building related PPM issues and Fire Safety.
  • Awareness and understanding of contract KPI’s to ensure compliance and effective service delivery
  • Communicate with wards/departments to ensure awareness of planned/re-active works in their area and ensure completion to their satisfaction.
  • Ensures that all activities proceed in a safe manner compliant with Statutory Regulation, CDM, Good Practice, etc by compiling procedures, monitoring standards and maintaining records.

Multiskilled Technician

EQUANS are looking for a Multiskilled Technician to be based in Preston for our HMCTS contracts. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
The primary purpose of the role is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of Mechanical and Electrical Buildings Services Engineering plant, ensuring all activities are completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with the contracted output specifications and EQUANS processes and procedures. This includes Legionella control and monitoring activities.

Main Responsibilities
• Ensure that routine PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) is carried out to all mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with Site task schedules and CAFM (Computer Aided Facilities Management)
• Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made.
• Ensure that plant faults and defects are always swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order.
• Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works. To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.
• Ensure that all relevant paperwork/CAFM is completed regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
• Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are present and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices.
• To develop a good working relationship with all members of EQUANS staff, subcontractors, and the client representatives.
• Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To always include the wearing of uniform and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Ensure the professional image of EQUANS is always presented to clients
• Ensure up to date plant logs are always kept
• Ensure that all plant rooms under the responsibility of EQUANS are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
• Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance.
• To arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns.
• To undertake lone working when and where required, subject to passing satisfactory training.
• Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.
• Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
• Ensure CAFM (Computer Aided Facilities Management) system, e.g., Movaliser, is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
• To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with EQUANS Technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements (or approved client system).
• To carry out any other task as directed by the Management team.
• The position will require you to provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.

Client/Customer
• Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests ensuring CAFM is updated
• Coordinate quotations with the Area Facilities Manager and Technical Supervisor
• Production of information for quotations

Helpdesk - PPM
• Support the Helpdesk as required when reporting or updating planned and reactive maintenance
• Be available for out of hours call-out support for the contract on a on call Rota basis.

Compliance
• To gain Technical Appointments as required e.g., LVCP/LVAP/Mechanical /Pressure CP.
• Produce Condition / Dilapidation Reports as required
• Ensure supervisor is informed immediately if dangerous circumstances occur

SHEQ
• Comply with requests for information from SHEQ manager
• Ensure you work to company health and safety policy
• Ensue PPE is safe to use
• Report accident and near misses in a timely manner
• Ensure your test equipment is within calibration
• Ensure you follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works

Impact:
Working to high standard of Building Maintenance, we require a fully reliable and competent Multiskilled Engineer who can work on own initiative, within a team or oversee subcontractor is, producing high quality reports on their findings and work. The role will involve being the face of EQUANS so smart appearance and being able to discuss findings with others including customers is required.

Complexity:
The successful candidate will have the ability to fault find, diagnose, and rectify both Electrical and Mechanical faults and issues unaided.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
4 Year experience in a similar role and or relevant qualification examples are: 18th Edition, test and inspect, Heating the ventilating City Guilds, HVACR.

Shift Electrician

Equans is looking for a Shift Electrician to join our team in Worcester Royal Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • To undertake a proactive role carrying out maintenance, repairs and inspection on electrical systems, and mechanical and associated building services
  • As part of a skilled engineering team you will carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) task to various services across site and will involve varied tasks such as working on Lighting Systems, Nurse Call, L.V Electrical Installations, Security Systems, Motors, Pumps and associated building services in accordance with the PPM programme
  • Respond in the required time to ad-hoc breakdown requests as identified by supervisor / manager or as a minimum, to comply with contractual KPI's
  • Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works
  • Carry out systematic fault finding in a logical and safe manner on malfunctioning equipment
  • Complete and maintain records as and when appropriate and as required, whether written or electronic
  • Ensure liaison with Wards and Departments as required, ensuring there is minimum disruption whilst carrying out work

Electrical Craftsperson

Equans is looking for 2x Electrical Craftspersons to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis for our QEH contracts. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
To undertake improvement work, maintenance and repairs of plant, services and physical assets including testing and routine fault finding.
• The responsibilities will be at the Mental Health Sites.
• To undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services to the NHS Trust.
• To carry out all works in compliance with EQUANS’s KPI’s and contract.
• Participation in the out of hours on call rota (vehicle provided)

Impact:
This position has an important role within the workflow process; the person will be actively involved in developing detailed knowledge, and the maintenance of the core plant and equipment in the Acute PFI Hospital Building.

Complexity:
• Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to his/her own trade, without supervision.
• Set up New Work appropriate to his/her own trade using relevant tools, equipment and machinery, without supervision, as appropriate to his/her grade.
• After appropriate training, work off tower scaffolding, MEWP’s, ladders, and step ladders and within confined spaces.
• To carry out unsupervised maintenance and repairs and report any defects or unusual circumstances to the Supervisor.
• Requirement to learn new techniques with training as necessary.
• Scope of work will include entering departments containing service users undergoing various treatments/procedures after reporting to departmental staff. Occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances could be encountered.
• To understand the general working of the EQUANS Estate, so that work can be carried out in the most efficient manner, pro-active in developing new ways of working.
• To understand fully the inter-relationship between various maintenance crafts.
• To be contacted by radio and/or PDA to receive instructions. This can involve frequent disruption to work patterns.
• To be knowledgeable of and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations and all safety rules both EQUANS and Statutory.
• Produce, if necessary, list of materials to carry out remedial repairs or alterations to current task.
• Ensure all PPM and Reactive work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions and response and repair times.
• To maintain workshops and working environment in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
• To record information as required for the operation of Maximo or similar system.
• To understand the working of electrical systems within the EQUANS Estate.
• Diagnose and repair faults in engineering installation, plant and equipment. To deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others. To inform immediate Supervisors of any delays or difficulties encountered.
• To maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment as appropriate.
• To undertake any other duties as requested by Management, in order to comply with EQUANS’s contact and KPI’s
• Staff will be employed on work appropriate to their core specialist skill. They will however progressively be suitably trained to acquire elements of extra skills with the intention of reaching levels of flexibility and competence to enable them to achieve and apply the ability where required to perform the above. Pass knowledge gained to others.

EDF - Electrician

Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team in Hartlepool for our EDF contract on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:

To carry out electrical installation tasks including supply cables, electrical building services, electrical switch gear, domestic and industrial installations.

Required Experience:

Select correct tools for each task, ensure that correct tools are available for each task, and ensure electricity supply is isolated prior to starting work, understands the principles of isolation and always use a volt test meter or other suitable indicator to ensure that the electricity supply has been isolated. A methodical approach to work checking each element is complete. Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team in Birmingham, College Road on a permanent basis.

This is a full time role to carry out repairs and maintenance work to the homes and properties repaired and maintained by the Company in a multi-skilled environment whilst achieving high standards of customer care and satisfaction.

Multiskilled Technician - Electrical

Equans is looking for a Multiskilled Technician (Electrical) to join our team at Tameside General Hospital on a permanent basis, this would include working 37.5 hours per week. With a week about split working pattern – Week 1: 07:00 – 15:00, Week 2: 10:00 – 18:00. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
Equans are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Technician – Electrical, based at Tameside General Hospital, but may also infrequently be required to cover Salford Royal Hospital, the Multi-Skilled Technician will be responsible for the technical performance and maintenance of standards at Tameside General Hospital. They will provide guidance to others on site, showing technical expertise in Electrical systems. Ensure appropriate and compliant solutions and efficient customer service delivery. The Technician will have technical knowledge in more than one skill or technology area and will form part of the out of hours on call rota. Working hours are 37.5 hours per week. With a week about split working pattern – Week 1 0700am – 1500pm, Week 2 1000am – 1800pm

Main Responsibilties:

-Ensure workload is planned, delivered to specification and agreed service requirement.
-Plan, prioritise and resource projects.
-Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H&S and environmental regulations.
-Install, maintain and repair plant equipment.
-Diagnose, fault-find, commission systems and monitor facility performance, through PPM programme, identifying any additional works required.
-Flexible working hours required.
-Administer and complete relevant paperwork in a timely manner.
-Understand and meet ongoing customer requirements, develop effective working relationships with business partners, including sub-contractors management, completing all relevant permits.
-Fair, consistent and courteous attitude in all dealings at all levels.
-Full driving licence required
-At all times maintain a smart appearance and professional manner that is representative of Equans in the workplace.
-Ability to work under pressure, take ownership of problems and deal with them to their conclusion.
-Ensure that all issues are reported to the Technical Services Supervisor/Technical Services Manager as required.
-Attend training courses funded for by Equans as required for business purposes.
-Train to become an Authorised Person/Responsible Person in relevant disciplines – (additional salary uplift awarded)

Impact:
The individual will play a vital role to Equans, working alongside other colleagues in the team to ensure that the operations are legally and contractually compliant and represent excellence in service delivery.
