Network Engineer

Equans is looking for a Network Engineer to join our team in London on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £40,000-£50,000, dependent upon skills and experience, bonus and benefits package.

 

The Network Team in Central IT is a section of the Infrastructure & Operations Team responsible for supporting and maintaining the network across the UK EQUANS estate.  It is additionally responsible for the delivery of network project design and implementation working alongside the Cloud Engineering Team. The team is responsible for the network to approximately 250 office sites that vary in size from a few people to a large corporate office which hold several hundred staff.

What will you deliver?

  • Responsible for ensuring successful delivery of network projects in line with agreed architecture, budget and timescales – include design and implementation
  • Responsible for the security of network infrastructure and ensuring it is aligned with internal audit and EQUANS group audit (INCOME) guidelines
  • Effectively monitor the network and communications infrastructures and responds proactively to any issues
  • Accountable for maintaining performance and availability of LAN/WAN and Telecoms infrastructures across the UK BU including:
  • Design, configuration and implementation of a wide variety of network infrastructure technologies including switches, routers and firewalls and SD-WAN endpoints
  • Troubleshooting of LAN/WAN environments
  • Design, configuration and administration of core network constructs in AWS
  • Day to day network performance monitoring and checks
  • Responsible for ticket and collaboration with other Support Teams to coordinate incident management and ensure appropriate involvement for any critical tickets
  • Ensure an excellent relationship with IT Change Management to ensure the correct approval and visibility of the team’s scheduled and unscheduled activities
  • Ensure an excellent relationship with Service Transition to ensure an ever-changing scope is captured within the toolsets and team’s activities
  • Creation and updating of network documentation
  • Accountable and responsible for LAN/WAN/Telecoms developments and projects and their successful delivery
  • Continuous improvement and promotion of services, in order to meet relevant Service Level Agreements
  • Good background knowledge of networking technologies (including Ethernet and TCP/IP)
  • Meets all Service Level requirements for the provision of network and communications services

Who are we looking for?

  • Cisco CCT minimum, CCNA required
  • Experience managing LAN/WAN environments including experience with corporate MPLS network  
  • Experience managing Cisco SD-WAN environments
  • Firewall  experience - Cisco ASA/firepower preferred. Huawei a plus
  • Thorough understanding of OSI 7 layer model
  • Understanding routing protocols -  BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
  • Layer 2 technology – Spanning Tree (RTP)
  • VMWare NSX Network virtualization
  • Zscaler GRE tunnels and web proxy trouble shooting/configuration
  • AWS or Azure cloud networking technologies
  • Previous experience working within a diverse corporate LAN and WAN environment – configuring and maintaining network equipment – routers, switches and firewalls
  • Previous experience of working with Microsoft technologies (incl. AD, Windows Server, DNS, DHCP etc..)
  • Experience of IP telephony troubleshooting
  • Awareness of AGILE project management methodologies
  • Awareness of ITIL best practice framework
  • Desirable experience of design and configuration of cloud network technologies
  • Desirable experience implementing and configuring monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco DNA, Highlight and Kentik
  • Experience of Cisco ISE and 802.1x preferred

SAP Domain Lead (HR/Payroll)

Equans is looking for a SAP Domain Lead (HR/Payroll) to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

This role is hybrid role, with occasional travel required to the Northeast.

Working within the Equans UK SAP ERP Service Delivery Team (SDT) & reporting to the ERP Service Delivery Manager, the Domain Lead will be directly responsible as the principal customer relationship link between our SAP ERP preferred technical support business partners and Equans UK HR and Payroll business stakeholders.

This role is critical to manage and support the continued expansion of the utilisation of the Equans UK SAP ERP systems to support the continued growth of the Equans UK business by ensuring a suitable, stable, & scalable SAP ERP HR & Payroll platform exists.

The Domain Lead is primarily responsible for maximizing the value delivered to Equans UK HR and Payroll business stakeholders ensuring that product prioritisation, workload and delivery is aligned with the Equans UK HR and Payroll business Stakeholders expectations. As well as this the they will be expected to co create the roadmap for the next 12 to 24 months and lead a large Payroll integration Project.

Working as Equans UK SAP ERP Payroll and HR Subject Matter Expert the Domain Lead will provide comprehensive functional guidance, support & advice specific in all aspects of Equans UK HR & Payroll domain solution activities, including: Process and Data, System design and configuration, system security and authorisations, reporting and KPI’s, and UK legal requirements relating to HR & Payroll technical compliance and Implementation.

What will you deliver?

  • Providing evaluation & approvals of SAP ERP HR & Payroll Service Pack releases & SAP ERP note applications, progressing with relevant internal & external parties co-ordinating planned release cycles where applicable
  • Evaluating business change requests & fully documenting the business requirements
  • Providing and facilitating a robust test strategy & approach for any given change
  • Ensuring that system integration testing is performed for the product
  • Planning & supporting of Business Acceptance Testing
  • Informing the production release strategy for any given change
  • Acting in the capacity of a Project Lead
  • Providing the single point of contact between business teams & technical teams & third parties to analyse & articulate requirements
  • Assisting with the writing of detailed solution recommendations
  • Working to EQUANS UK standards & best practices, where possible taking advantage of new ways of working (Agile) & associated tools
  • Ensuring new solutions have no adverse impact on the Business, or the services provided by the SAP ERP SDT function
  • Routine analysis of latest SAP ERP initiatives, performing system functionality reviews & providing reports/documents where appropriate
  • Attending relevant ‘Special Interest Group’ meetings
  • Setting up & managing improvement focus groups/workshops with the appropriate business teams & process owners to discuss incident remediation, service requests & change requests to build a forward schedule of change register
  • Actively contribute ideas to improve the services provided by the SAP ERP SDT function
  • Acknowledge and apply feedback from business stakeholders and SAP ERP preferred technical support partners
  • Support the SAP ERP SDT to deliver value to the business always aligning the team to the SAP ERP vision and roadmap

Who are we looking for?

  • Qualified to a degree level or equivalent
  • A proven history of positive results acting in a support or SME capacity within the SAP ERP HR & Payroll domain
  • A thorough background in either Payroll/HR process or general SAP ERP functionality in a supporting role
  • A demonstrable history & ability of being able to investigate complex business & SAP ERP issues (both functional & technical) with a view to resolving and/or articulating to the necessary audience / resolver groups
  • SAP ERP HCM qualifications desirable
  • Project management qualification desirable

Network/Telecoms Engineer

Equans is looking for a Network/Telecoms Engineer to join our team at EDF at Heysham Power Station for a 12 month Fixed-Term contract. This is a full time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

Working within the Network& Telecoms Team you will be responsible for carrying out repairs, planned installations and maintenance work on the Station Telecoms& IT Network.

Main Responsibilities:

Effect repairs to the Network as required. Undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities at the request of the Team leader. Complete new installation works, complete all report sheets and test certificates as necessary and mark up any drawing alterations. Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with published procedures. Complete all Task/Risk Assessment sheets relating to work.

Technical Competence:
• Must demonstrate a methodical approach to tasks and plan accurately
• Able to follow technical drawings and plans specifications, schedules, and manufacturer’s details.
• Numerical ability for measuring and making calculations (material estimates and measurements)
• Knowledge of a broad spectrum of Telecommunication systems.
• Knowledge of the safe operation of basic hand and power tools
• Understand Network principles and topologies (LAN/WAN), data communication protocols, network operating platforms with respect to the Station and organisational standards.
• Ensuring provision of networked infrastructure services meet international compliance, integrity, security, and availability standards.
• Liaison with the Help Desk with respect to resolving problems within defined service levels; action of Work Order requirements assigned by the Equans Workflow Process.
• Understanding of broad spectrum of Telecommunications Systems, comprising; Digital Radio (DMR), Conventional/IP Telephony, Public Address, Analogue Digital CCTV, Broadcast standard digital media systems and Radiopaging.

Industry Qualifications:
• Must have been a registered apprentice or undergone some equivalent method of training
• Practical training in the Networks & Telecoms Technical Discipline
