Commercial Director

EQUANS is looking for a Commercial Director to lead the commercial function in the south business unit based in Hatfield on a permanent basis. This is a fulltime role working Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

As part of the Senior leadership team you will report directly to the Managing Director, and play a pivotal role in driving the commercial strategy and performance of our business.

You will work closely with the Divisional Commercial Director, who participates in monthly reviews for the business unit. You will have full responsibility for the governance and control of all commercial activities and processes across the business, ensuring robust commercial reporting, maximizing profitability, and maintaining stringent cash control.

In this role, you will be instrumental in identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring that our commercial activities align with our strategic objectives and deliver outstanding results.

 

What will you deliver? 

Commercial Management:

  • Deliver profitable contracts and projects, ensuring effective cash management and timely revenue collection.
  • Maximize profit potential by conducting regular profit reviews and identifying opportunities for increased margin.
  • Manage cash collection, invoicing, and debt management, reporting issues and improvement plans to the Finance Director.
  • Produce accurate cash forecasts, contribution forecasts, and monthly cost/value reports.
  • Take responsibility for accurate profit forecasts and work with the Finance Director to ensure accurate cash forecasts and pipeline data management.

 Stakeholders:

  • Efficiently procure subcontractors and manage supply chain deals.
  • Provide line management for all commercial staff within the divisions and lead their training and development.
  • Lead financial strategy at contract establishment stage and ensure the desired approach with the QS teams.
  • Develop effective client relationships and ensure referenced subcontractor choices are made at contract setup stage.

 Commercial Reports/Awareness:

  • Review and manage opportunities and threats and divide commercial reporting for the divisions.
  • Prepare monthly P&L reports and present them to the Regional Managing Director and Regional Board.
  • Work on potential and live disputes with relevant stakeholders to mitigate risks.
  • Manage and produce all CVR reports & Divisional P&L, providing clear explanations to stakeholders.
  • Ensure stable monthly financial reporting by allowing adequate risk provision and reserve contingencies.

 Regional Support:

  • Establish accurate cost delivery data within the divisions and ensure compliance with group standards.
  • Protect the company’s legal position in contractual engagements with customers and supply chain.
  • Provide commercial support to the pre-construction department during competitive tenders.

Payroll Manager

Equans is looking for a Payroll Manager to join our team in Newcastle Upon Tyne on a 12 month FTC basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

The role holder will be accountable for the delivery of effective Payroll and Benefit services by driving continuous improvement initiatives, through innovation and best practice to deliver quality, compliant procedures.

The role will be responsible for leading a team of 10, supporting the Equans UK Business Unit key stakeholders to deliver strategic and operational people initiatives that maximise the performance of the Business.

What will you deliver?

  • Support the delivery of the UK Business Unit strategy and vision
  • Responsible for the delivery of a great employee experience through Payroll services to agreed SLA’s & KPI’s relating Payroll legislation and internal policies.
  • Create a culture that promotes high levels of employee and customer engagement through inspiring leadership and customer focus.
  • Identify and drive team development to ensure future fit skills and team engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement liaising productively with SAP Service Delivery team to assess, prioritise and deliver ongoing system improvements driven by legislation and efficiency levers.
  • Responsibility to deliver Payroll agreed budget, whilst supporting cost reductions across the UK Shared Services overall budget.
  • Ensure adequate process controls and segregation of duties are in place, satisfying all Internal and External audit standards applicable to Equans
  • Authorise BACS payments to employee’s and third parties in line with agreed timetable.
  • Ensure all process documentation/operating procedures are up to date.
  • Provide expert guidance on payroll processes, legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate all payroll and pension year end activities.
  • Handle escalations through to resolution.
  • Support contract mobilisations and demobilisations to ensure effective, accurate timely transition.
