Regional Finance Director
EQUANS is looking for a Divisional Finance Director to join our team in London on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
This is a regional role covering the London area, the role offers hybrid working.
The purpose of the role is to take full responsibility for financial control and operational cash management in the region. To support the Divisional Finance Director in driving strategy and delivery of the budget and business plans.
What will you deliver?
- Lead the finance activities of the Region
- Drive both profit improvement and cash generation initiatives throughout division
- Be a pro-active member of Regional Senior Leadership team setting strategy and vision
- Ensure the Region is consistent with the UKBU strategy and agenda, ensuring that both UKBU and divisional Finance requirements are met
- Ensuring a robust balance sheet and cash control
- Manage the team to ensure timely and accurate financial accounting, financial planning and analysis, and the delivery of special projects
- Monitor business performance and providing accurate and timely reporting to P&C Divisional Executive Team
- Prepare accounts
- Plan for the future via in year rolling forecasts and budgeting and MTP process
- Strategic planning
- Liaise with central finance to develop and communicate Finance strategy and company procedures and systems
- Ensure a robust environment to meet control, reporting, regulatory and audit requirements
- Ensure that the team is appropriately resourced, informed, motivated and trained to meet business objectives
- Take the lead on identifying gaps in Regional financial policies and on filling them in a timely manner
- Take a significant role in divisional acquisition processes
- Drive continuous business improvement on all areas in the division to ensure best practice is achieved and shared across all sectors
- Drive forward understanding of key divisional cost metrics to help better understand and drive business delivery models throughout sectors

Finance Business Partner
Equans is looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our team covering the North, West & Central region on a permanent basis. This is a full time, hybrid role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
The role offers flexible hybrid working, there is an expectation of working on site 2 days per week.
The role is to be responsible for the direct financial management of a cluster of accounts (7 contracts) that generates circa £17m of revenue per annum as well as supporting the delivery of projects (circa £34m) across the North, West & Central region.
Detailed analysis and financial accounting interpretation is required to fully understand the profitability drivers for the contracts & projects across the region. This will involve change modelling, benefits tracking and influencing the business to deliver additional value to all stakeholders.
The post holder will be the “face of Finance” at the local level – communicating to/from Operations & support functions and partner with the Contract team by providing financial information and interpretation, undertaking proactive analytical and other investigations, contributing to developing a better understanding of the business and improving operational performance.
What will you deliver?
- Monthly management accounts in line with current accounting standards.
- Forecasting P&L with detailed tracking and commentary.
- Owners of the P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash flows, driving continuous improvement.
- Support New Business activities
- Reporting in line with IFRS standards
- Provide expert accounting, reporting and all necessary financial expertise for the sector (circa 7 contracts)
- Balance sheet and Cash flow forecasting
- Work with contract management to ensure that plans, budgets, and forecasts for the contract are both challenging and achievable.
- Manage the delivery of all financial processes to the division
- Provide proactive input into contract negotiations and contract decision making initiatives
- Intervene where required to support compliance and alignment objectives
- Drive for value at the bottom line, with a focus on % of profit and prompt invoicing
- Ad-hoc projects, which may include Contract recovery investigations, implementation, and benefits realization

Finance Analyst
Equans is looking for a Finance Analyst to join our team ideally in Newcastle or Manchester on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
The role holder will be an effective analyst, with high levels of data accuracy and efficient processes to support the business in financial data needs and lead basic finance processes (POEM, GRIR, WIP, Cost Distribution, payroll and agency reconciliations, project start date alignment to Coupa date changer, TWFR utilities reconciliations
Provide support, first line financial query point, financial / systems interrogation and work to a clear timetable to enable the Finance Business Partner to deliver an accurate financial close monthly, including accurately recording cash, P&L and Balance sheet preparatory work and support the build-up and maintenance of schedules linked to the forecasting processes for financial framework of reporting variances to budget.
What will you deliver?
- Support the Finance Business Partners in the flow of financial information, including collation of journals, management accounts and reporting for communicating to / from the Operating Contract to Finance, through extensive use of Excel, SAP interrogation, Coupa interrogation and BPC reporting systems.
- Support the location Contract teams by providing financial information and interpretation, undertaking analytical investigations, contributing to developing a better understanding of the business and supporting operational understanding of performance, under the guidance of the FBP.
- Support in the reporting of COP & Turnover
- Provide basic accounting, reporting and all appropriate financial information for the sector / contract, under the guidance of the FBPs.
- Monitor cash and debt issues, collating actions and chasing for business responses in actions.
- Consolidates Lifecycle forecasts and progress against these, with commentary.
- Provides consolidated balance sheet information in a useable format for S&N FBPs to utilize to agreed deadlines, with appropriate comparators.
- Prepares journals and month end packs with check total to RFC for FBPs
- Liaise with Contract admin teams to ensure standard processes are complied with ad-hoc projects; including data analysis, benefits tracking, process improvements / streamlining.
- Ad-hoc and routine processes connected with ensuring accurate costs in SAP

- Graduate or AAT part qualified with drive to study to achieve an accounting qualification (i.e. CIMA)

Provide proactive support into contract negotiations and contract decision making initiatives. - Attend contract review meetings as required, including meetings with the client on WIP & Debt to support the Account Director / Account Managers.
- Drive for value at the bottom line, with a focus on revenue enhancement / protection and on cost saving opportunities.
- Ad-hoc projects; which may include Contract recovery investigations, implementation and benefits realisations.
- Monthly management accounts in line with current accounting standards
- Owners of P&L & Balance Sheet and Cash flow, driving key metrics monthly
Support New Business Activities. - Forecasting COI & Revenue with detailed tracking and commentary.

Required experience and knowledge
- AAT Qualified or Part Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA or ACCA)
- Management Accountant / Assistant (1-2 years in in role)
- Good financial understanding & demonstrating commercial acumen.
- Ability to analyse complex data with accuracy.
- Good communicator and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem solving, analytical and customer service skills.
- Excellent planning & administration skills.
- Ability to manage own and others workloads to meet set deadlines.
- Being open to innovation and new ways of working
- Strong IT skills with excellent working knowledge of ERP system, ideally SAP
MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Assistant Financial Accountant
Equans is looking for a Assistant Financial Accountant to join our team in Wath upon Dearne on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. Please note this is a hybrid role. On offer is a competitive salary, and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
- Support the requirements for the quarterly, interim and annual statutory audits and related group requests
- Support with internal control processes, reporting, assessments and changes
- Keep up to date with IFRS requirements and support implementation within Division
- Support Production of all IFRS information as required including support on technical accounting papers
- Develop and maintain analysis for management and audit purposes
- Attend regular meetings with the internal and external reporting teams
- Support for Business Development on financial elements of bids as required
