Based at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital with some travel to Burnley Hospitals the Technical Services Manager will be responsible for the technical performance and maintenance of standards on the contract.

What will you deliver?

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and company procedures across the stakeholder groups, ensuring effective maintenance strategy is in place for mechanical department to minimise breakdowns and downtime through a proactive approach and attitude.
  • Provide guidance to others on site, showing technical expertise in the Mechanical and Electrical systems and ensure competency, training and development of team.
  • Ensure appropriate and compliant solutions and efficient customer service delivery.
  • Management of a mechanical bias workforce and assist in the management of other disciplines as necessary.
  • Work with the relevant operational leads to ensure the service delivery across the full range of services is continually improving.
  • Lead the Technical Services Supervisor in the management and engagement of the operational staff.
  • Ensure all planned maintenance tasks are completed on time, reactive works are effectively managed and reduced in volume/duration.
  • Implement innovation in more effective maintenance strategies.
  • Update record drawings and Operations and Maintenance manuals.

Who are we looking for?

  • A driven individual to add expertise and dimension to the FM team.
  • Be able to demonstrate flexibility and efficiency in responding to changing business requirements and will establish good working relationships with their team members.
  • Experience of a technical management role in a healthcare environment
  • People management and engagement skills
  • Strong customer focus with experience of delivering high standards of Customer Service, previous FM experience within a hospital and/or PFI environment.
  • Sound awareness of risk assessment and working safely
  • Health & Safety qualification (i.e. IOSH Managing Safely).
  • HNC/ HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent - essential
  • Authorised/ Competent person in ventilation - essential
  • Authorised/ Competent person in water systems - essential
  • Strong Knowledge, qualifications and experience of steam and condensate systems/ Pressure Systems/ Steam raising boiler plant - essential

Minimum of 5 years post apprenticeship experience in a (insert mechanical/ electrical) maintenance service – essential

Hard FM Senior Operations Manager

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hard FM Operations Manager to join our Facilities Management team at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth. This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the Contract Manager
  • To facilitate Hard FM activities undertaking the functional, technical and management aspects of the FM contract with respect to planned/ reactive maintenance, minor project work and the Forward Capital Maintenance Programme requirements.
  • To be responsible for all operational staff, budgets and performance of sub-contractors within this work stream.
  • To maintain a close liaison with the Client FM Function to ensure day to day requirements of delivering the FM contract are met.
  • To be responsible for contractual performance in accordance with agreed budgets and compliance with the Service Level Standards whilst continually enforcing cost efficiencies and maximising value received.

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • Will hold a relevant qualification in a Hard FM related subject, ideally with membership of a professional institution and/or management qualifications (ILM, BIFM, etc.)
  • Must have experience of managing staff in Hard FM in a healthcare environment
  • Will have specialist knowledge of processes and procedures within mechanical and electrical disciplines together with excellent IT skills
  • Will be able to demonstrate sound financial acumen and be able to interpret financial accounts

Life Cycle Project Manager

Equans is looking for a Life Cycle Delivery Manager to join our team at Salford and Tameside Hospital's on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week.

On offer is a competitive salary up to £60,000 dependent on skills, knowledge and experience, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

The role holder will be the main driver and point of contact for the delivery of the planned and unplanned lifecycle across both PFI estates at Salford Royal and Tameside General Hospitals, based at either location accordingly.

What will you deliver?

  • Liaise with all relevant parties involved with Lifecycle works, including co-ordinating with various sub-contractors, SPV, NHS key staff and internal team members.
  • Populate governance documentation, and approval process management for the delivery of the lifecycle works.
  • Ensure upon all Lifecycle works completed that where applicable supporting documentation/O&Ms are shared with the technical team to provide a fully auditable administrative trail in line with contractual obligations and ISO accreditation.
  • Co-ordinate and arrange for the external surveyors to undertake condition surveys and interpret the final report(s) with the support from the existing team to compile the annual lifecycle planner(s)
  • Engage with competent Contractors from our PSL to carry out the design, works/construction and commissioning of the proposed lifecycle works.
  • Monitor the progress of the lifecycle deliverables with further support and input from the established Technical Team and Contracts Manager to ensure the works are completed within the time, budget, and safety and to the required quality.
  • Ensure all work activities are carried out safely and in accordance with statutory and corporate regulations and legislation, Healthcare Standards and Specifications.
  • Identify any potential opportunities to evolve the Lifecycle works.

Technical Manager & Authorising Engineer (Natural Gas/Mechanical/Biomass/ Petroleum)

(Natural Gas / Mechanical / Biomas / Petrolium) to join our team, working from home with weekly travel in Northern England and Scotland on a permanent basis.

The role holder will lead on requests for Natural Gas support and assist with medium hazard Mechanical systems across the North. The candidate will also be responsible for biomass and petroleum systems as AE and will set the standards within our operational teams for these disciplines.

What will you deliver?

  • Ensure the EQUANS Safe Systems of Work for Natural Gas, Mechanical Systems (Low & Medium hazard), Biomass and Petroleum are managed and adhered to by our field operational teams.
  • Carry out technical training and Assessments and Appointments as governed by the various safety rules.
  • Achieve compliance with regards to Gas Safe requirements and Equans Rules for the Management of Natural Gas/LPG and Oil Combustion Installations.
  • Develop and support the production of Local Operating Procedures
  • Assess and, where appropriate, appoint Authorised, Responsible and Competent Persons.
  • Define the requirements of any training that is required for appointment.
  • Train and mentor appointed persons and other junior gas engineers to enable them to achieve the required standards.
  • Maintain a register of appointed persons including their training records and areas of responsibility.
  • Carry out audits at an appropriate frequency and on any other occasion deemed necessary and provide feedback to the LAE on any identified systemic issues. The content and nature of each audit is described in the relevant rule book.
  • Provide advice on design and operational considerations when new schemes and installations are being or considered.
  • Issue and management of all operational restrictions, safety notices and any amendments to the SSoW to each affected appointed person or Controlling Manager within their area of control
  • Investigate dangerous occurrences or RIDDOR incidents.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Operating Unit Directors.
  • Act as subject matter experts to support the wider business.
  • As a Gas Safe registered engineer there may on occasions be a need to support contracts with the servicing and/or management servicing of Combustion Appliances and associated plant

Who are we looking for?

  • Mechanical trade qualifications and have hands on Gas compliance experience.
  • Highly competent Mechanical/Gas biased Engineering/Technical Manager, ready for the next step.
  • Significant expertise in the management and control of commercial Gas defect and issues, and a working understanding of Mechanical systems in a manufacturing, industrial, defence, commercial and/or healthcare environment, and will use that experience to help drive up standards across the Division.

Facilities Co-ordinator

Regional Technical Supervisor (Scotland and North)

Equans is looking for a Regional Technical Supervisor (Scotland and North) to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £38,000-£41,000, dependent upon skills and experience, and benefits package.

 

Representing EQUANS Technical Compliance Services, the Regional Technical Supervisor is responsible for executing the self-delivery of all Water Treatment services across the North of England and Scotland.

Interpersonal skills will be key to gaining the trust and confidence of all Clients, effectively working with the Technical team supported by Schedulers and Contract Administrators to efficiently deliver Water Treatment Planned and remedial works utilising system tools.

This would be a Working Supervisor role with a view to supporting in field on specific works as required. Willing to work overtime is essential.

What will you deliver?

  • First point for customers on site and customer queries/complaints
  • Review all Job Sheets in timely manner for accuracy, legibility, procurement, (materials and quotations) problem solving
  • Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests
  • Coordinate the production of quotations including undertaking site survey’s
  • Use preferred supplies where possible
  • Provide weekly reports to the Regional Technical Manager
  • Attend client meetings as and when required
  • Complete Safety Visits for all Engineers
  • Assist Admin regarding closure of WIP in a timely manner
  • Supervise material budget per contract
  • Liaise with procurement for preferred supplier’s sub-contractor
  • Efficient delivery of contracts and reduce overtime spend
  • Support Helpdesk with allocating calls to the correct engineers for your sites
  • Make and document any PPM changes / variations
  • Review assets in timely manner ensuring Planon accuracy
  • Be available for out of hours call-out support for designated contract’s
  • Be able to cover sites during absence as directed by Regional Technical Manager
  • Carryout and attend safety audits
  • Supervise availability of engineering staff to attend training courses in line with requirements
  • Ensure all site L8 log books are in date and accurate
  • Production of Quotations
  • Complete accident / incident investigations in a timely manner
  • Ensure all contracts under designated control are statutory compliant
  • Ensure QA are completed in line with the company policy
  • Comply with reasonable requests for information from SHEQ Manager
  • Ensue all engineers PPE is up to date and safe
  • Ensure tool box talks are carried out
  • Ensure all engineers are following risk assessments and method statements for all works

Assistant Technical Services Manager (Building)

Equans is looking for an Assistant Technical Services Manager (Building) to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager (Building), the post holder will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the maintenance services in accordance with the requirements of the Maintenance services Agreement with Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.

Responsible for the effective management of trade staff ensuring all maintenance activities comply with the statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines.

The post holder will also collaborate and co-operate with the Trust to deliver customer focused, cost effective and efficient maintenance service.

What will you deliver?

  • Providing operational and technical expertise to the contract team
  • Development of service-related continuous improvement initiatives, from conception to introduction
  • Development and introduction of business efficiency measures to ensure a cost effective and best value approach
  • Support the TSM in ensuring Building Tasks are closed out in timely manner, assisting with the other trades (Mechanical & Electrical) when the need arises
  • Assist the Management and co-ordination of directly employed labour and sub-contractors in reacting to breakdowns and implementing the Planned Preventative Maintenance Systems
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines
  • Ensure all staff are trained and aware of health and safety responsibilities in accordance with statutory, NHS and Trust guidelines and the companies Incident and Behavioral Safety Initiatives
  • Positively manage relationships with stakeholders and Trust representatives to enhance perception of service provision
  • Ensure Planning and scheduling all planned preventative maintenance activities for the building team is completed using the Maximo system
  • Consideration to statute, Regulations, ACOP’s and Guidance (HTM’s)
  • Give additional support with financial controls with reference to departmental budgetary control, stock, contracts etc
  • Responsible for the safety of plant, equipment, and infrastructure and for safe working practices
  • Responsible for participating in the Emergency ‘on call’ rota, as directed by Senior Management

Fabric Manager

Equans is looking for a Fabric Manager to join our team in Stoke on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

The role holder will be responsible for the performance of Equans engineers / sub-contractors and maintaining Equans and industry standards within the Stoke Schools PFI contract.
