Mechanical Technician

Equans is looking for a Mechanical Technician (Water) to join our team Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £33,000 - £36,400 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • To undertake the water system planned preventive maintenance, testing, breakdown maintenance and other maintenance related activities to the Estate
  • The responsibilities will mainly be at the Retained Estate but may also include duties at the Mental Health unit and Acute Hospital
  • Carry out works on the following but not limited to; TMV, Water Tanks, Showers, Taps, Calorifiers, Water Softeners, RO Plant, DI plant, sampling
  • Perform the complete range of Mechanical Technician (Water) tasks as required or directed by management
  • Be knowledgeable of and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations, and all safety rules both Equans and Statutory
  • Understand the operation of water systems and to correctly apply this knowledge and understand during the performance of Estates Services maintenance and testing activities
  • Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to own trade, without supervision
  • Ensure all PPM work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions

Who are we looking for?

  • NVQ or C&G Level 2 Heating/Vent/Plumbing
  • Legionella/TMV/Disinfection awareness and training
  • NVQ or C&G Level 3 Heating/Vent/Plumbing (desirable)
  • HTM 04 RP/CP training (desirable)
  • Previous experience of working within a health care environment (desirable)

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.

Water Treatment Engineer

Equans is looking for a Water Treatment Engineer to join our team in Canary Wharf on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £45,000 per annum and benefits package. 

 

As a Water Treatment Engineer, you will provide exceptional customer service while adhering to health and safety, financial, KPI, statutory, quality, and contractual obligations. Your role includes offering contract management and service support at both the site and client level, specializing in water hygiene activities and ensuring legislative compliance. This encompasses assessing, diagnosing, and determining the most suitable solutions, as well as addressing any arising interruptions or issues.

What will you deliver? 

  • Onsite testing of water systems (including cooling towers / pool)
  • Taking water samples for laboratory analysis
  • Temperature monitoring / flushing outlets and cleaning / disinfection / descaling of water systems and appliances
  • PPM and reactive service calls to sites and maintain site logbooks and audits
  • Assisting the shift team with plumbing remedials

  • Demonstrable experience in the water treatment industry
  • Working knowledge of AcOP L8, HSG 274 or Parts 1,2&3
  • Track record of maintaining a large number of cooling towers (We have 14 on site)
  • Plumbing experience (desirable)
  • Service & installation of water treatment equipment (desirable)
  • Risk assesment & pre commision cleaning experience (desirable)
