Equans is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The post holder will very much be involved with the maintenance and minor works service covering a wide and varied range of mechanical equipment servicing large industrial units such as dual fired boilers and heating and ventilation distribution equipment.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake fault finding on complex medical gas systems, MTHW /LTHW pressure heating water systems, critical systems and equipment and pressurised steam systems
  • Using cause effect analysis and detailed examination to gain a solution and use of all relevant drawings and schematics
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, commissioning and testing in accordance with published procedures, completing all report sheets and test certificates as necessary and mark up any drawing alterations
  • Use of all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works ensuring full compliance with EQUANS Guidelines and Controls e.g. Risk Assessment, Site Safety, Fire Safety, Control of Infection and Hazardous Substances
  • Work involves the use of analytical test devices, specialist tools, workshop fixed equipment, portable electrical equipment, welding equipment, emergency generators, medical gas equipment (patient use) suction units, geared drives

Mechanical Engineer (Heating & Plumbing)

Equans is looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Heating & Plumbing) to join our team at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and in addition you will receive an excellent benefits package. 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer (Heating & Plumbing) to join our Facilities Management team at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People based in Little France, Edinburgh.  This is a permanent position working 48 hours per week. The role will be on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, and working hours will be 0900 - 21:00. There will be participation in an out of hours on call rota, and overtime when necessary.

Key activities:

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive preventative maintenance (RPM) tasks as assigned through Maximo (or other system)
  • Sign off on completed work and promptly report any issues to the M&E Lead for rectification. Ensure tasks are properly closed off in Maximo following full completion.
  • Demonstrate initiative and judgment in resolving non-routine problems independently.
  • Recommend options for improved task performance and provide workable solutions to immediate work problems.
  • Effectively plan, organize, and prioritize allocated work.
  • Take ownership of tasks and deliver them to the best of your ability.
  • Respond flexibly to changing circumstances, work priorities, and deadlines.
  • Complete tasks within agreed timescales and ensure adherence to high-quality standards.
  • Observe and follow work through to completion while checking for errors and making necessary corrections.

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SHTM (Sottish Healthcare Technical Memorandum), PPMs (Planned Preventative Maintenance), and SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Excellent understanding of Engineering Building Services installation and maintenance techniques.
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Mobile Gas Engineer

Equans is looking for a Mobile Gas Engineer to join our team in Stoke on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

The Mobile Gas Engineer will be required to work as part of the in-house Stoke Schools engineering team to deliver all Gas associated Planned and Reactive works within an Education environment

 

What will you deliver? 

  • Fault finding and Repair of Gas Fired Boiler plant & Heating Systems
  • Carry out regular planned maintenance on Gas assets
  • Provide lifecycle & defect reports relating to Gas elements. 
  • Provide regular updates to the helpdesk on the progress of all types of work orders. 
  • Supporting other engineering disciplines. 
  • Proactive communication with site staff to obtain access permits and progress updates Day to day management of Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks

  • Management of own H&S and those who are also on site.
  • Take ownership of the client’s needs and pursue effective communications with the customer in order to build a stable relationship

  • Be available to attend or manage emergency call-outs and provide written incident reports as required
  • Ensure that all issues are reported to the Team Leader

  • Recognised Commercial Gas Qualifications to City & Guilds/NVQ level

Mobile Maintenance Operative

Equans is looking for a Mobile Maintenance Operative to join our team working on a mobile basis in Bristol and Oxford on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £32,000 - £34,000 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience, company vehicle and benefits package.

The Operative will carry out all PPM and Reactive repairs, as necessary across Health Care sites in Bristol and Oxford.

What will you deliver?

  • Liaise with the helpdesk in relation to Reactive Work Orders
  • Responsible for maintenance of site Mechanical & Electrical Systems
  • Complete relevant paperwork and report diligently
  • Responsible for all record keeping, control of sub-contractors and raising and issuing of safety documentation as required
  • Ability to work in a customer focused environment where quality and image is very important
  • To be available for out of hours call out, weekend working depending on production and business requirements

Mechanical Engineer

Equans is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team on site in Westminster, London on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £40,000 - £45,801 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience and benefits package.

A role has become available on a prestigious government facilities management contract for a mechanical engineer. The role is a for a day shift engineer, working 8 hours each shift 09:00 – 18:00, with some flexibility to meet requirements.

What will you deliver?

  • The successful candidate will be required to have proven previous experience of planned preventative and reactive maintenance and their primary task will be to perform works on mechanical systems; including plumbing, air conditioning, pressure systems and will be required to assist the team with building fabric and electrical systems
  • Effectively performing maintenance of a range of assets, through following a PPM schedule and ensuring compliance in a flexible and efficient manner
  • Manage any reactive tasks that get raised, from diagnosis through to sourcing parts and on to completion
  • Working as first line response to any reactive call-out, ensuring that you are always working safely and to the Approved Codes of Practice for the relevant service you are carrying out
  • Working with various different parties, including specialist subcontractors in order to deliver work to the highest of standards for our clients. You must be able to demonstrate that you are aware of best working practices and that you are following them at all times

Senior Shift Engineer

Equans is looking for a Senior Shift Engineer to join our team in Leeds working at St James's University Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 42 hours per week, based on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, days and nights, working between the hours of 6am-6pm & 6pm-6am.

What will you deliver?

  • Provide a customer facing highly responsive maintenance service to the Leeds Oncology Wing
  • Undertake a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks and carry these out to a very high standard

Equans is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our team at Fife Victoria Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. This is based on a shift pattern that includes working nights and weekends. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

  • Ensure all Planned Maintenance works are completed within the target start and target completion timeframes
  • Ensure all Reactive Works are responded to and completed in line with contractual SLA’s
  • Ensure all Corrective & Remedial works are completed and duly recorded
  • Report all Corrective & Remedial works that need to be undertaken by other skillsets, or external contractors
  • Ensure that the integrity of the Critical systems is always achieved minimising downtime of assets
  • Correctly & Accurately utilise PDA to accurately record information, data and details relating to all works undertaken and accounting for working day
  • Complete all maintenance documentation (electronic and hard copy) ensuring full and accurate completion
  • Assess, compile, and create safety programmes relating to Mechanical and Medical Gas works in line with EQUANS Safe Systems of Work and SHTM 02-01 Undertaking the duties and responsibilities as Appointed Person within the relevant discipline. Issuing of Medical Gas permits as required
  • Issue Limitation of Access Permit to Contractors attending site outside of normal working hours, including working at height, hot works, etc.

Who are we looking for?

  • Completed an HNC or equivalent in mechanical installation/Repair or Pipework installation/repair on heating and cooling systems

Heating/Plumbing Engineer

Equans is recruiting for a Heating/Plumbing Engineer to be based on site at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh. This is a permanent full-time role working 42 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.

This is a permanent position working 42 hours per week. The role will be on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, and working hours will be 0900 - 21:00. There will be participation in an out of hours on call rota, and overtime when necessary.

Key activities:

  • You will play a vital role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Mechanical systems within the healthcare environment.
  • Oossess competency at level 3 in theory and practice or equivalent in a relevant Mechanical discipline or have achieved an advanced level recognized and relevant apprenticeship.
  • Mechanical Craftsperson may provide general supervision of Craft or Operative Maintenance Assistants or act as a Shift Lead Line Manager overseeing a small team.Lead Line Manager.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive preventative maintenance (RPM) tasks as assigned through Maximo (or other system)
  • Sign off on completed work and promptly report any issues to the M&E Lead for rectification. Ensure tasks are properly closed off in Maximo following full completion.
  • Demonstrate initiative and judgment in resolving non-routine problems independently.
  • Recommend options for improved task performance and provide workable solutions to immediate work problems.
  • Effectively plan, organize, and prioritize allocated work.
  • Take ownership of tasks and deliver them to the best of your ability.
  • Respond flexibly to changing circumstances, work priorities, and deadlines.
  • Complete tasks within agreed timescales and ensure adherence to high-quality standards.

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Understanding of SHTMs, PPMs, and SLAs related to Mechanical systems.
  • Competency at level 3 in theory and practice or equivalent in a relevant Mechanical discipline.
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety at Work (HASAW) requirements and risk assessment processes.
  • Knowledge of RAMS and codes of safe working.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Organizational and time management skills.

Electrician

Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team in Wakefield on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £40,000 - £42,000, dependent upon skills and experience plus company benefits package. 

Due to an increased workload, we are seeking to recruit a Testing & Inspection qualified Electrician to join our Electrical Testing & Inspection Team. This role is a component of our partnership with Coca-Cola, located in Wakefield. The Electrician will report directly to the Site Manager (with support from the T&I Supervisor) and will be responsible for the daily operations of the electrical testing and inspection contract.

What will you deliver? 

  • Complete PPM and reactive works activities in accordance with contract requirements, and in line with company competency appointments
  • Supervise works carried out by specialist sub-contractors, reporting anomalies to the Contract Supervisor / Site Management
  • Work with Site Manager to identify obsolete and end-of-life-cycle equipment for input into the forward maintenance plan and updating of the asset register
  • Be aware of and have good working understanding and practical hands-on input regarding control of legionella and associated required works
  • To attend site in response to breakdowns or failures of the equipment outside of normal working hours (call outs)
  • To carry out scheduled Electrical testing and Inspection maintenance tasks including but not limited to Emergency Lighting, ECIR, Illumination Levels, Infra-Red, Motors, PAT, Static Discharge, Lightening Protection
