We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Energy Engineering team in the development of innovative renewable energy and retrofit efficiency projects. This key role will report to the Energy Engineering Director, supporting the continued growth in our engineering and design function in light of our expanding pipeline of work.

The  Senior Electrical Design Engineer will lead the electrical design elements of multidisciplinary projects from RIBA 1 to 4, as well as provide technical assurance during construction. These projects will typically range in value from £1m to £5m an encompass virtually all forms of renewable energy technologies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in electrical engineering, spanning conventional building services, infrastructure and renewable energies. The candidate will be conversant with modern design tools, such as Amtec, AutoCAD and REVIT, as well as key design standards, regulations and codes of practice. Creativity, innovative thinking and adaptability will be required in order to meet the diverse needs and ambitions of our projects.

Key activities

  • The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will hold responsibilities for assuring that design packages are delivered on time, on budget, satisfy project requirements and achieve compliance

  • Will need to take a project briefs, potentially from pre-concept stage, identify design options and select the best available technique, through rigorous qualitative and quantitative assessment
  • Develop robust yet efficient designs in unique project environments with immovable deadlines
  • Liaise with Statutory Authorities, including Distribution Network Operators, to obtain relevant consents
  • Coordinate internal and external designers to ensure achievement of deliverables
  • Prepare scopes and specifications for externally procured activities

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • Bachelors or masters degree in engineering,
  • Membership with an appropriate professional institution
  • Relevant awards associated with electrical engineering
  • UK Engineering Council Chartership would be advantageous, though not exclusive

Solutions Consultant

EQUANS is looking for a Solutions Consultant to join our team on a permanent, hybrid and full time basis. On offer is a competitive salary of between £30,000 - £45,000 company vehicle and benefits package. Must be open to travel. 

The Energy and Carbon Solutions (ECS) consulting division provides an initial engagement that helps shape our new and existing client’s operational plans to deliver their net zero objectives. What differentiates us from many of our competitors in the consulting space is our ability to transition these plans into engineering management programmes through our wider project delivery and operations teams. Our team is therefore composed of commercially minded engineers who are able to create and present attractive solutions that have the potential to be delivered by Equans as a turnkey net zero partner.

What will you deliver? 

The Solutions Consultant will have the primary focus of delivering professional consultative services in low carbon and energy solutions that enable net zero transitions for our clients in the Public and private sectors.

Under the leadership of a Senior Solutions Manager, the Solutions Consultant will support the consulting team to effectively manage opportunities from conception through handover to the EQUANS project delivery divisions. They will support the ECS management team in delivering technically excellent work, building client relationships, forming effective partnerships with external consultants, suppliers, and partners – ultimately supporting the overall technical and commercial solution presented to clients.

Accountabilities

  • Supporting effective team and project management, including project completion timelines, project costs and profitability, and ensuring client needs are met.
  • Owning tasks and discrete project deliverables through to high quality completion
  • Delivering technical reports and energy audits as part of the solution development process

This is a highly technical position requiring engineering thinking and problem solving to a high degree. The role also requires complex analytical and commercial thinking and will support the development of the client deliverables to agreed timescales and quality standards.

  • Undertaking energy audit activities, development, engineering, and conceptual design of energy projects
  • Develop complex and dynamic numerical models of engineering and commercial aspects of energy project feasibility

Qualifications or Required Experience:

Senior Civil Structural Design Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Structural Design Engineer to join our Energy & Carbon Solutions business. This business unit supports a wide range of decarbonisation and renewable energy projects.

The main purpose for this role will involve managing the civil and structural engineering and design development, working alongside a team of in-house specialist engineers with elements outsourced to subconsultants. Typical civil and structural work includes engineering buildings / structures and foundations, drainage systems, highways access, site temporary / permanent roadways, utilities / services distribution, solar superstructures etc.

Key activities 

  • To lead the civil and structural design and engineering development of utility-scale renewable energy projects, from early concept through the construction phases
  • To manage and maintain design technical compliance with Employer’s Requirements, statutory requirements and relevant design standards
  • To ‘project manage’ the civil and structural design process
  • To develop conceptual designs, design / performance specifications and outline scopes of work, to enable commissioning of detailed design, design & build contract specifications and specialist consultancy support
  • Lead the commissioning of insourced / outsourced design and specialist consultancy, through the preparation of technical briefs, design scopes and performance specifications
  • Interrogate and optimise civil and structural designs
  • Assist in the delivery of Construction Design & Management Principal Designer duties, including but not limited to the preparation of Pre-Construction Information, appraisal of Designer’s Risk Assessments, preparation of Hazard Assessments and identification / implementation of mitigations
  • Assist in the development of Commissioning Plans, Integrated Test Plans, Quality Acceptance Test Plans

Sustainability Adviser

EQUANS are recruiting for a Sustainability Adviser to be based in Manchester or Seaham. This is a full-time permanent role working 38 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

The main purpose of the role is to provide oversight of present and future technology and governance applicable to the Sustainability agenda.

Research, support and coordinate all governance requirements of green grant applications and opportunities.

Assist with the submission of documents to energy supplier partners to ensure draw down of funding.

Research of supply chain capacity and capability - Engage with key supply chain partners to support the effective development and delivery of projects, including life cycle cost.

Lead on training opportunities.

Analysis of housing stock data to identify opportunities for energy efficiency works.

Provide advice and assistance to the site teams in relation to all aspects of Sustainability. Lead on the development of Health & Wellbeing and Fuel Poverty models

Administration and coordination of environmental documentation.

Liaise with client, regulatory bodies and subcontractors on matters of environmental management and sustainability.

Compliance Manager

EQUANS are recruiting for a Compliance Manager to be based in Manchester or Seaham. This is a full-time permanent role working 38 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

The main purpose of the role is to support the regions profile of energy solutions within the region, identifying and working up proposals for clients and consultants with a view to securing profitable Energy Solution offerings.

Develop a sustainability compliance framework to support BP growth targets for the Energy & Sustainability function of the region. Providing guidance to the business on environmental and sustainability issues. This will include extensive working with different departments and teams, providing support and technical guidance on compliance and governance on external funding opportunities.

Support client engagement strategies. Assist in the development of Client and Business Unit carbon reduction roadmaps.

To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure all employees reporting to you do the same and being responsible for ensuring that SHEQ requirements are always upheld to the highest of standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Client management and support to major projects - supporting Clients, tenants and customers through their retrofit journey with Equans. This may include: the provision of direct support to identify which retrofit measures are needed to achieve deep emissions cuts; helping Clients to coordinate the installation of measures.

Role summary

The role will involve reporting to the Business Director of Embedded Energy, the Compliance and Operations Support Manager shall provide Operations, Maintenance and Technical Compliance support and advice to the Embedded Energy Sites and regional support teams, to achieve business requirements. The principal objectives of the role are to create and deliver the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) discipline and strategic direction in line with business plan targets, compliance, health, environment, safety and quality best practice and standards, within resource and financial guidelines.

Solutions Manager

EQUANS is looking for a Solutions Manager to join our team in Central London on a hybrid, permanent and full time basis. On offer is a competitive salary of £45,000 - £65,000, company vehicle or allowance and benefits package. Must be open to travel. 

The Energy and Carbon Solutions (ECS) consulting division provides an initial engagement that helps shape our new and existing client’s operational plans to deliver their net zero objectives. What differentiates us from many of our competitors in the consulting space is our ability to transition these plans into engineering management programmes through our wider project delivery and operations teams. Sustainability Manager

EQUANS are recruiting for a Sustainability Manager to be based in Manchester. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

The main purpose of the role is to raise regional profile of energy solutions, including the development of Zero Carbon roadmaps for key client challenges., identifying and working up proposals for clients and consultants with a view to securing profitable Energy Solution offerings. Adhering to regional growth targets for the Sustainability division of the region. Providing guidance to the business on environmental and sustainability issues. This will include extensive working with different departments and teams, providing support and guidance on environment and sustainability issues. Key Accountabilities

  • Raise regional profile as a leading provider of Sustainability Solutions - Equans regional partners, sustainability leads to develop ‘Sustainability Solutions’’ that meets the needs/ wants of our customers and colleagues. Create effective partnerships and programs to increase the effectiveness and visibility of our Business Unit’s sustainability work. Find & Secure Profitable Pipeline– Identify, develop and secure funding offerings to secure workload with key partners in the region.
  • Develop return on investment models to deliver internal contribution and client value.
  • Define and identify a structure capable of delivering/supporting a £35M revenue steam (5 Years). Development and management of departmental Key Performance Indicators.
  • Lead sustainability behavior and cultural change at Equans NW engaging staff to participate in sustainability initiatives. Work with the senior management of business to ensure that sustainability and environmental management are embedded within the organisation.
