We have a great opportunity for a Commissioning Manager to join our highly successful Energy Solutions business; primarily supporting our renewable energy projects.
Our Energy Solutions business oversee major renewable EPC projects across the UK. We design, install, commission and operate large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint.
Alongside our solar farm projects we are involved in delivering a wide range of energy solutions to secure a more sustainable future.
Key activities
The role will involve managing all aspects of the testing and commissioning process as well the interface with relevant stakeholders for the Company’s pipeline of solar PV EPC projects as well as potentially other energy generating technologies and related projects.
- To lead, on site and off site, all testing and commissioning activities in solar farms being delivered by the Company by managing internal and external resources required in order to perform all testing and commissioning activities..
- Prepare testing and commissioning plans and test procedures, outlining requirements (time, resources, equipment as well particular conditions to be satisfied) and test deliverables, associated method statements and risk assessments.
- Review test results against agreed contractual and normative criteria and to organise remedial activities if and where required, including the investigations, diagnosis and troubleshooting that may occasionally be required.
- Compile test reports in accordance with contractual requirements and applicable normative references.
- Provide input to project management, design, engineering, procurement to ensure that appropriate commissioning requirements are incorporated into all related activities in order to ensure operability, safety and performance.
- To provide asset performance, simulation, measurement and verification as well as reporting of PV plant performance for assets in commissioning phase and to initialise any required remediation.
- To keep abreast of technological and commercial market developments and to inform senior management of any salient innovation.
- Ensure the consistent high quality of services through management of and interface with third parties, sub-contractors as well as in-house resources.
- To effectively manage supply chain, to ensure supply chain audits are conducted and appropriate action plans put in place for improvements. To develop a professional relationship with key supply chain partners to ensure high quality service delivery for the Client.
- Implement the company’s corporate strategies, especially in the context of optimising financial performance, Quality Assurance requirements, Health & Safety good practice and statutory compliance.
Skills, qualifications & experience
- Must have previous experience of commissioning large scale Solar PV farms or other energy related projects
- Knowledge and experience of G99 and HV
- Solar PV operations & maintenance experience (O&M)
- Flexible approach with the ability to travel across various sites within the UK and working away from home

Senior Electrical Engineer

We have a great opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to our Energy Solutions business.
Equans Energy Solutions is a market leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor focussed on the energy transition. As a Senior Electrical Engineer within this team you will play a key role in the end-to-end delivery of our projects by providing electrical technical leadership during engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. Your focus will be on BESS, electrolytic hydrogen and PV projects with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the UK’s decarbonisation efforts.
Key activities
As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for electrical engineering and design on our BESS, PV and Hydrogen projects as well as technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the electrical system design for energy projects, including HV/LV distribution systems, protection schemes, and control systems
- Develop single-line diagrams, protection coordination studies, and detailed design drawings
- Perform power system studies including load flow, fault current, and stability analysis
- Prepare, review and approve electrical equipment specifications and vendor documentation
- Ensure compliance with UK grid codes, G99, and relevant standards
- Prepare detailed technical specifications for major electrical equipment including transformers, power conversion systems, protection relays, and control systems
- Support with the development of tender packages and scope of work documents for electrical contractors
- Lead technical bid evaluations and contractor selection process
- Conduct site inspections to promote our Safety-First culture and ensure quality of installation
- Act as Electrically Authorised Person (EAP) and support training of other EAPs
- Review and respond to technical queries and contractor RFIs
- Review and approve as-built documentation
- Develop detailed commissioning specifications and acceptance criteria
- Oversee pre-commissioning checks and testing activities
Skills, qualifications & experience
Education:
- BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred
- Authorised person HV | LV qualification or similar preferred
Experience:
- Solid experience in electrical system design
- Demonstrable experience with BESS &/or hydrogen (both preferred)
- Strong background in HV systems (11kV-132kV) design and protection
- Proven track record in managing subcontractors and reviewing deliverables
- Experience with UK grid compliance and connection requirements
- Experience in equipment factory testing and inspection
- Understanding of commissioning protocols for HV/LV systems
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in power system analysis software
- Strong knowledge of electrical CAD software
- Understanding of IEC 61850 and relevant communication protocols
- Experience with protection relay coordination
- Familiarity with energy management systems and grid services

Key Responsibilities:
As a Site Supervisor, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our solar farm construction operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the safety of all personnel on-site
- Overseeing daily work activities
- Managing multiple subcontractors effectively
- Reviewing and optimizing work schedules
- Scheduling and maintaining site offices
- Upholding project availability standards
- Providing training and ensuring the safety of technicians
- Effective communication with the management team
In addition, you will be responsible for setting site and individual goals, staying within budgetary constraints, and handling disciplinary actions when necessary. Your role as a field environment role model will ensure that all procedures are followed meticulously.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Previous experience in electrical / civils projects in rail, utilities, or the highways sector
- Electrical or Civils trade qualifications (City & Guilds or NVQ)
- Supervisory experience
- Familiarity with Cat & Genny equipment
- Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification
Desirable:
- Prior experience in the Solar PV renewable energy industry
- Familiarity with current solar technology
- First Aid certificates

Coordination Manager

Key Activities:
- Liaising with key all areas of the Energy team (Operations, Procurement, Commercial, Engineering/Commissioning) from design through to construction and commissioning across all major and minor projects, to establish and monitor responsibilities, specifications, and quality of all deliverables.
- Liaising with Contractors to instruct required content, format, and schedule of their deliverables. Ensuring Contractors deliver scope of works as per the agreed contract terms with regards to quality and addressing any defects. Receiving support from the Commercial team when required.
- Liaising with Clients to ensure document and quality requirements are achieved and to ensure that Client requirements remain in line with the contract
- Creating Quality, and Documentation Programme (sometimes known as PAC or project ‘close out’), to be integrated with the main project programme. Ensuring that suitable deadlines and reasonable Client requirements are agreed during contract negotiations and included in the project contract.
- Conducting meetings, communicating requirements, allocating responsibilities, and managing individuals, to the agreed dates of delivery.
- Specifying requirements of deliverables, based on experience from previous projects, Client requirements, and input from technical staff.
- Ensuring that Equans personnel and contractors produce the deliverables as required.
- Implement quality control procedure across all Energy schemes, including but not limited to ‘inspection test procedure’
- Recording budget and liaising with the commercial team for quality control and documentation process through project close out process. Allocating resources across project stages within budget requirements and provide data on spend for use in future project pricing and planning.
- Overseeing all Energy project deliveries document control including but not limited to; numbering, revision control, storage, and distribution of documents.
- Overall control and responsibility of document and quality control platform and implementation across the Energy Division of Bouygues Energies & Solutions.
- Reviewing deliverables for content and quality in relation to agreed requirements and general quality standards, in conjunction with technical staff.
- Tracking and distributing/actioning Client comments as necessary, instructing and obtaining updated deliverables as required, and providing responses to comments and updated deliverables to Client.
- Reporting on overall quality and project ‘close out’ performance against targets, and lessons learned, for business improvement on future projects.

- Document & Quality Management experience within an engineering or construction industry sector
- Strong understanding of Engineering, Procurement & Construction project lifecycles, and how Document Management contributes to the successful execution of projects
- Experienced in use of Autodesk Construction Cloud software

- Collaborative skills and experience in multi-disciplinary teams
