IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Technician and Technical Author

EQUANS is looking for a IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Technician and Technical Author to join our team in Dungeness, Kent on a permanent basis for our EDF contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:   
Responsible for contributing to the development and safe implementation of the Rope access activities/operations in line with IRATA standards and Equans health and safety requirements of the Equans UKBU. 
The IRATA rope access level 3 technician & technical author will ensure implementation of the IRATA standards. Alongside the strategy in promotion of the EQUANS/EDF Industrial Safety, environment and quality model, within the wider unitary EDF Safety framework. So that safety, health, physical and emotional wellbeing is the overriding priority. 
The IRATA rope access level 3 technician & technical author will give oversight ensuring that rope access equipment is tracked, monitored, inspected in line with statutory requirements and stored in the correct manner. With all relevant compliant paperwork, maintained correctly archived. 
The IRATA Level 3 rope access technician and technical author will be competent of site supervision for rope access work projects. And will be able to demonstrate advanced rescue and rigging techniques, along with knowledge of relevant legislation, work techniques and equipment use and limitations.
The IRATA Level 3 rope access technician and technical author will be able to demonstrate expertise in rope access legislation, rope access and rescue techniques. Alongside health and safety maintenance.
Be conversant with all relevant IRATA Standards, specifications and rules.

Essential:
The IRATA Level 3 rope access technician and technical author will be capable of site supervision for rope access work projects, with the required levels of competency to be able to demonstrate the following attributes: 
-To be conversant with relevant IRATA work techniques and Working At Height regulations 2005 legislation.
-To be able to demonstrate all the skills and knowledge required of IRATA levels 1, 2 and 3 
-To have a comprehensive knowledge of advanced rope access rescue techniques.
-Hold an appropriate current first aid certificate, to show that suitable emergency first aid training has been undertaken.
-To ensure that work scopes and work packs are understood, communicated effectively and followed
by all team members involved with all rope access activities.
-To have knowledge of the IRATA certification scheme.
-To have knowledge of the IRATA Training, Assessment and Certification Scheme and
be familiar with the contents of the IRATA (International Code of Practice).
-To conduct full inspection of all rope access rigging, ensuring compliance with IRATA standards. Prior to any rope access activities being undertaken.
-To be able to engineer risk assessments and method statements for all rope access tasks undertaken on site.
-To be able to create and document appropriate rescue plans for all rope access activities undertaken on site. 
-To have the required levels of competency, to enable the undertaking of all statutory inspections of rope access equipment. In accordance with IRATA standards.
-To ensure all rope access equipment is tracked, monitored, inspected and stored in the correct manner with all relevant paperwork maintained and authored as required.
-To facilitate Safety meetings and Toolbox talks as necessary and be proactive in all safety expectations.
-Be conversant with all relevant Standards, specifications, rules and regulations including EDF Permit to Work System.
-They will work closely with the Industrial Safety Manager and the Site Leadership Team to contribute to a plan and strategy to improve safety performance and manage the high potential risks related to rope access activities and compliance within the business. 
-They shall have responsibility for the implementation and collation of monthly reports/audits and policy/guidance/safe operating procedures. Including development, to support the safe operational delivery of all rope access activities. 
-They will ensure that the site under their responsibility, operate to the highest standards of health and safety and quality management, through being responsible for the delivery of the IRATA compliance strategy and through engagement at all levels to ensure continuous improvement, world class performance and the development of a positive safe working culture, within all rope access operations.  
-They will support rope access related incident investigations. Ensuring sites are supported in the prompt closure of all actions related to these incidents.  
-They will be a subject matter expert in key areas of rope access compliance for the contract, owning the procedure and associated documents for the area of expertise and enabling safe operation and supporting the operations team to be an  embedded Subject matter expert. 

Impact:    
Leadership and gravitas: As the technical author of the rope access team. They will play a critical role in developing and driving positive safety standards across all rope access operatives.  They will be an exemplar of safety behaviours. 
Strategic planning: They will develop and maintain a detailed long-term roadmap of rope access safety and compliance & quality standards at their Station, to ensure that our safety performance and behaviours meets and exceeds our, IRATA and client’s requirements. 
Customer relationship management: It is critical that they build and maintain highly effective relationships with EDF stakeholders at every level on the station as a trusted Subject Matter Expert.   
Innovation and creativity: They will be continually creative and imaginative, with ideas and solutions to promote a safe culture within the rope access team. And be focused on identifying and embedded best practice from IRATA and other stations and teams across EQUANS, and the wider services sector. 
Finance & commerciality: It is important that their activities and campaigns are supported by a robust business case. 

Complexity:  
-Implement and promote the EQUANS/IRATA/EDF Industrial Safety, environment & quality model on their station. 
-Manage Equans rope access management systems ensuring local sites have relevant procedures/processes readily available and enacted.  
-Drive quality assurance improvement from the front-line influencing leaders, managers and supervisors in quality assurance. The rope access technical author will support operational teams in rope access quality assurance and support the fleet in any fleet wide processes/procedures.  
-Ensure the undertaking of statutory and pre-use inspections of rope access safety equipment and correct storage arrangements are in place. 
-Work highly collaboratively with Equans IRATA and EDF alongside their other supply partners to develop and support a robust rope access safety model.  
-Support and challenge the EQUANS Operations team to optimise their safety, environment & quality processes and behaviours. 
-Drive a culture of proactive safety and quality management, with every member of the rope access team, to be empowered and confident to be heard and to challenge and change unsafe behaviour and processes. 
-Drive accountability and ownership to operational teams relating to Equans/IRATA and EDF compliance.  
-Ensure relevant ISO standards are maintained and complied with at the local site (ISO9001,14001 
& 45001) 
-Complete routine Equans/IRATA/EDF inspections & audits at local site, to continually improve and confirm rope access safety and quality standards are aligned and maintained.  
-As a trusted Subject Matter Expert, attend meetings on behalf of EQUANS with client and other interested parties.  
 

Qualifications or Required Experience:   
Essential:  
• IRATA Level 3 rope access. 
• Minimum of 3 year’s experience in the IRATA level 3 rope access role.
• IOSH Safety Management In The Rope Access And Work At Height Industry. 
• Working Knowledge of The Working At Height Regulations (2005)
• ISO9001 Internal Auditor Training.
• Full first aid certificate.
• Competency in undertaking creation of task specific risk assessment/method statement.
• Competency in creation of task specific documented rescue plans. 
• CCNSG
• SMSTS/IOSH Managing Safely.
• Related work experience, including application of rope access safety principles in high risk industrial, construction, engineering or logistics environment. 
• Working knowledge of UK and EU health and safety regulations. 
Desirable: 
• Work experience in high safety risk work sites.
• Work experience in the nuclear power generation industry.
• Working knowledge of UK and EU health and safety regulations. 
• Fully Vetted and completion of counter terrorism checks.

Roads & Streetworks Inspector

EQUANS is looking for a Roads & Streetworks Inspector to join our team in Grimsby. This is a full time permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week. With a salary of up to £25,000 plus benefits package.

A driving license is essential for this role.

The individual will be part of a team that has the responsibility under delegated powers to ensure that the local authority discharges its statutory duty for the day to day co-ordination, inspections and monitoring of works carried out by Utility Companies and Private Companies under licence, within the Highway.

What will you deliver? 

  • Monitor the progress and quality of the works undertaken by statutory undertakers and others with powers to undertake work on the highway to ensure compliance with the requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act under the delegated powers given to Engie by the local authority.
  • Monitor safety standards employed by those undertaking works on the highway ensuring that Engie meets its obligation for the safety of highway users by applying the delegated powers available to it.
  • Operating an effective programme of inspections of street works ensuring compliance with the requirements of NRSWA on behalf of the local authority.
  • Monitor the placing of skips, scaffolding etc, on the public highway.
  • Maintain records of all inspections to ensure the council has adequate records for future reference.
  • Investigate all reports of defective reinstatement. Purse the rectification and identify situations where recovery of costs, for any defect found during sample inspections or following investigation of a reported defect should be pursued.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of systems of working that continue to ensure the effective delivery of this service.
  • Assist with the enforcement of all relevant street works legislation (including inspections, site meetings, the serving of notices and maintenance of records), to maintain the safety of highway users.
  • Liaise in a professional, efficient and courteous manner with elected members, the retained client, the general public, parish councils, neighbouring authorities and any other interested parties in relation to all street works activities.
  • Monitoring the activities of all parties working on the highway, intervening to stop unsafe working practices or correct defective workmanship.
  • Upon its inception carry out permit compliance checks in line with supplied conditions of statutory undertakers.

Highways Inspector

EQUANS is looking for a Highway Inspector to join our team in Grimsby on a permanent basis. This is a part time role working Monday - Wednesday 9am - 5pm with a 30 min break and Thursday 9am - 10.30am . On offer is a salary up to £16,640.00 plus benefits package. 

EQUANS is North East Lincolnshire Council’s long-term Regeneration Partner delivering a number of services on their behalf, including the Highways & Transport.

The individual will be part of a team that has responsibility, under delegated powers, to ensure that the Local Authority discharges its statutory duty for the inspection, assessment and maintenance of the highway to ensure it is safe for all users of the network and the wider community, having regard to core objectives of safety, serviceability and sustainability.

What will you deliver? 

  • To inspect, investigate and order works as necessary to maintain the highway network in a safe condition.
  • To conform to legislation, policy, codes of practice, procedures and standards to ensure a robust and consistent approach to highway maintenance.
  • To maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure the local authority has adequate records for future reference and to enable the local authority to establish a defence against any action or liability claim that may arise.
  • Working within strict legal protocols and timescales, assist with the processing of third-party insurance claims, providing inspection and maintenance records, meeting claimants and solicitors on site, providing statements of evidence and attending court for cross examination in defence of the local authority.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders including client officers, elected members, the general public, parish councils, neighbouring authorities, emergency services and any other interested parties on matters relating to highway services.
  • To investigate stakeholder enquiries within prescribed timescales as directed by Highway Asset Engineer and Highway Maintenance Technician’s, often including complex and diverse issues and advise on potential solutions to problems to ensure the safety of the highway network.
  • To assist with the investigation of freedom of information requests within prescribed timescales.
  • To inspect the work of in-house labour force, contractors, or other third parties working on the highway, and to take any necessary measures to ensure their compliance with relevant legislation, specifications, standards and codes of practice.      
  • To identify and report on the need for more substantial improvement works on the highway, beyond the scope of reactive maintenance, for example roads requiring reconstruction, resurfacing, surface dressing and slurry sealing.   
  • When required, provide advice to third parties working in the highway, and if necessary, intervene to stop unsafe working practices.
  • To assist with the enforcement of relevant legislation to ensure the safety of the highway network.
  • To investigate and assist with the processing of applications for the construction of vehicular footway or verge crossings.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of new technology and systems of working to ensure the effective delivery of the service.
  • To contribute to the development of policy, procedures, safe methods of working and risk assessments
  • Undertake such other duties as may be required commensurate with the job level.

Building Control Manager

EQUANS is looking for a Building Control Manager to join our team in Grimsby. This is a permanent role working full time hours each week. On offer is a salary ranging between £52,000 - £55,000 depending on skills and experience, plus benefits package.

What will you deliver? 

Equans are North East Lincolnshire Council’s long term Regeneration Partner delivering a number of services, including the Local Authority Building Control function.

•              Lead the Building Control team and be responsible for their continuous development, having direct line management responsibility for the Building Control team.

•              Provide advice and interpret policies in respect of Building Control and engage in pre- application discussion, liaising with colleagues and external agencies as required.

•              Keep up to date with changes in the Building Regulations  and other relevant legislation and disseminate this information to colleagues to ensure they are familiar with new standards.

•              Maintain a case load of applications of all types (including complex applications) to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and other relevant legislation and determine these applications.

•              Developed and implemented a business and marketing strategy for the service to support an increase in market share.

•              Undertake the inspection of all building types within the Borough to ensure compliance with approved designs and with the Building Regulations.

•              Progress cases relating to dangerous structures and breaches of the Building Regulations through the legal process as necessary.

•              To negotiate and agree charges for all building regulation applications.

•              Have responsibility for the building control fee earning account.

•              Deal with dangerous structures, including properties with a deteriorating structural risk, liaising with property owners and with any necessary emergency services instructing on urgent remedial work, including participating in the Out of Hours emergency call out rota.

FRA Site Manager

Equans is looking for an FRA Site Manager to join our team working across the Northeast of England. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

 

The main purpose of the role is to assist the Contract Manager in the delivery of a high performing, effective and efficient /compliant FRA works and Refurbishment Service including the monitoring of a team of Trade Operatives and Sub-Contractors.

General Overview

Fire Plant Assistant

Equans is looking for a Fire Plant Assistant to join our team in Heysham on a 6-month Fixed-Term Contract for EDF. This is a full time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:

To undertake all fire and emergency preparedness systems work on a planned maintenance system. The main tasks include planned preventative maintenance on emergency equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, fire tender, fire pumps, fire protection systems, hose reels, dry riser testing, fire hydrants and deluge tests. Gas Supervisor

General Overview

The role of the Gas Supervisor is to directly manage a team of operatives across all trades in any workstream across the contract, to ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently, to a high-quality standard, with exceptional customer care. Acting as a role model for your teams and instilling the Equans culture to all colleagues.

Key Accountabilities

To take ownership and manage the various tasks carried out by the operatives ensuring they are carried out to a high standard, including but not limited to:

  • Ensure that EQUANS all safety policy and procedures are followed by you and your team, ensuring all works are carried out in a safe compliant manor across all disciplines required on the contract by both the in house and supply chain.
  • Manage effectively all working at Height carried out by your team including scaffold inspection and management.
  • Carry out face fit training for your team and ensure all records are kept up to date.
  • Record all accidents, near misses, Safety observations and HIPO’s on AIMS
  • Carry out toolbox talks on a regular basis and record attendees.
  • Manage absence in line with the policy, update HR.net and sickness tracker with all cases.
  • Carry out investigations, prepare investigation reports in line with the disciplinary policy.
  • Ensure your teams have the correct tools, equipment, and materials to carry out their work including imprest kit management in vehicles.
  • Manage your team’s productivity, including holding meetings, record actions and when necessary, implement performance improvement plans.
  • Carry out pre, post and in progress inspections (MSV) and record findings on AIMS.
  • Hold one 2 one meetings and PDR meetings with your teams
  • Ensure your team carry out all mandatory training and support any ongoing training for team members including apprentices.
  • Auditing Subcontractors and operatives in respects to quality and compliance to Statutory Regulations and company procedures and record on AIMS.
  • Auditing Subcontractors and operatives in respects to adherence to Manufactures Instructions, Installation methods, safe systems of work and certification regardless of product and record on AIMS.
  • Support recruitment of operatives including carrying out interviews, induction and ordering of tools and equipment, uniforms, and ID.
  • Ensure Non-Conformances are identified, reported and Corrective Actions implemented, monitored and trends identified and record on AIMS
  • Manage the Annual leave for your team to avoid peaks and troughs and have a consistent workforce including Christmas and summer periods.
  • Support management of complaints
  • Manage subcontractors as required.
  • Ensure your team support the ECO rota to provide adequate cover for all shifts.
