What will you deliver?

  • Carry out all types of repairs and maintenance work in a multi-skilled environment allied to the Electrical trade discipline
  • Attend repairs and maintenance appointments on time and complete works on the first occasion, in one visit and within target times
  • As and when required, diagnose necessary remedial works, make appointments/arrangements and organise materials required
  • To take part where appropriate in the Company’s out of hours emergency repairs and maintenance rota

Multi Trade Carpenter (East)

EQUANS are recruiting for a Multi Trade Carpenter to be based in Kings Road, Tyseley to work on repairs and maintenance for Birmingham City Council properties throughout the East district of Birmingham. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

Hours are Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm

What will you deliver?

  • To carry out project defined carpentry work to a high standard as directed
  • Compliance with specification / Compliance with materials and workmanship

Resident Liaison Officer

General Overview

To provide an end-to-end exemplary customer experience to all residents impacted as part of refurbishment works to their home. Effective liaison between the Site Team and members of the public affected by improvement works delivering a consistent service across the Region.  To assist in the smooth running of contracts and provide support in engaging with local communities through targeted events and community activities.  To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure all employees reporting to you do the same.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure implementation of all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • To keep all Residents fully informed as to the programme of works regarding their particular dwelling.
  • Comprehensive induction of all residents in accordance with processes.
  • To regularly visit Residents to establish and resolve any problems that may arise or have already arisen.

  • To deal with customer complaints in accordance with the QA Procedure.
  • To attend site meetings/team meetings/Client meetings or any meetings relevant to site.
  • Community awareness and targeted engagement activities specific to each Client
  • To provide Handover Packs and instruct on new installations.
  • Assist with training and support for new Team Members
  • Respond courteously and promptly to all customer queries and complaints and ensure a copy is recorded in accordance with procedures.
  • Accurately record all customer complaints and process as per QA procedure.
  • Keep residents informed as to action taken in respect of their complaints.
  • Advise Site Manager directly and immediately of any situations that have, or are likely to, cause conflict with Customers

Site Manager

EQUANS are recruiting for a Site Manager to be based in Carlise. This is a fixed term (8 months) full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance, bonus and benefits package.

General Overview

To manage a designated project on site and achieve the target contributions in accordance with the contract documents and programme; ensuring that the project is delivered safely on time, to a high standard of quality and with high levels of client/resident satisfaction.  To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure all employees reporting to you do the same and being responsible for ensuring that SHEQ requirements are upheld to the highest of standards at all times.

Key Accountabilities

  • To assist the Operations / Project Manager with pre-start details
  • To report to the Line Manager on the progress against the programme
  • To ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety aspects. Fully understand the company’s SHEQ policy/strategy
  • Produce target and/ or recovery programmes (short term, etc.)
  • Update productivity trackers including CPR
  • Maintenance of company required Health & Safety procedures / initiatives, including:
    • Use of PPE

Assistant Site Manager

EQUANS are recruiting for an Assistant Site Manager to be based in Carlisle. This is a fixed term (6 months) full time contact working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

To assist the site manager to manage the project in accordance with health & safety, agreed timescales, quality and cost. To develop excellent relationships with customers and assist in managing the Supply Chain. At the same time, you will develop your own working knowledge through on site experience.  To assist the site team to manage a contract which has variable value ranges.  To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Adhere to the Company quality standards with the Site Manager, including the management of defects, compliance to specification and materials, monitoring the subcontractors and site operatives conduct and workmanship.
  • To assist the site manager on all site management duties, including;
    • Completion of the Contract in accordance with the agreed Plan and Programme
    • Ensure Safety, Health and Welfare requirements are met and implemented
    • Ensure sub-contractors are kept advised of site requirements and work in line with Company standards
    • Keep a weekly record of all onsite plants to ensure they are of good quality and working efficiently
    • Ensure that all works are handed over to the customer at completion
    • Ensure that the Site Offices and Storage Compound reflects a professional image for the Company including; well displayed Company signboards, tidy and effective Compound fencing, and direction signs from the nearest main road.
    • Draft construction programmes in conjunction with the Planning Department looking at long- and short-term plans.
    • Ensure Adequate security and safety measures are implemented on site considering any risk properties / areas
  • Assist the site manager from start to finish on site over a prolonged period, ensuring the project plan is adhered to and any delays are accounted for and remedied as soon as possible.
  • Be able to utilise knowledge and experience to ensure solutions are given in a quick and efficient manner for the tenant / client
  • Be adaptable to overcome a variety of problems, escalating advanced complications to supervisor / manager as necessary
  • Attend internal and external project and Company related meetings as appropriate to understand the Construction Phase Plan Requirements, Costs, Sustainable solutions, Specification, Drawings, Preliminaries, Preambles and Contract Documentation.
  • Work closely with all departments and staff within the business and develop effective working relationships with internal staff and client representatives (i.e. the housing department) to ensure consistency of information and approach, keeping tenants / subcontractors fully informed with regard to the programme.
  • Create and distribute relevant site information to and from the subcontractors; passing details of all instructions received on site to Senior Site staff or Contracts Manager
  • Update the Construction Programme weekly for the Site Manager indicating progress to date
  • Ensure all company vehicles are kept in a clean and tidy condition; conduct weekly inspections and report any damage immediately in accordance with the Company Procedure
  • Collate daily allocation sheets and record daily labour levels on site
  • Ensure compliance to all Company policies and procedures (i.e. Company Quality Assurance system)
  • Monitor orders and deliveries to ensure that all materials are available when required and in accordance with Contract Specification.
  • Store all materials in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations to minimise loss and wastage
  • Advise Buying Department of any materials that are likely to be surplus at least one month before Contract Completion
  • Keep Senior Site staff and/or Contracts Manager advised of any concerns or delays with sub-contractors
  • Ensure all Plant Drivers are approved in accordance with the current regulations and have necessary training and valid certificates
  • Ensure all certification is valid, up to date, and recorded appropriately for all site operatives / subcontractors
  • Leave all work areas cleared of building rubbish and reinstate gardens and footpaths, etc in accordance with contract requirements and health and safety
  • Carry out site administration and dealing with correspondence / telephone enquiries in an accurate, timely and professional manner
  • Complete Weekly Progress Monitor and electronic GRN reports
  • Maintain and update Construction Phase Health & Safety plan as works proceed
  • Any other reasonable management request

Safety

  • Assist with the preparation of the Health and Safety file
  • Ensure any risks and near misses are reported to the site team immediately
  • Ensure all public protection measures are being taken and adhered to by residents and other members of the public
  • Ensure the Lone Working Procedure is adhered to including usage of Skyguard App
  • Be responsible for your safety and others around you.

Development

  • To attend college or further education (where offered or applicable) in line with company procedures
  • Develop an understanding of site management, the designated contract, construction drawings, etc. ensuring compliance with conditions throughout the project
  • Attend all mandatory courses related to your role

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the development of the utilisation of Viewpoint across all projects, in conjunction with our Digital Information Manager
  • Regularly audit the systems to ensure it is being used effectively and aligns with our quality management system.
  • Assist the teams in generating/preparing system required reportage.
  • Issue protocol documents/coordinate set up of new projects/invites to Viewpoint.
  • QA check: ensuring that all drawings / documents received on the system have been correctly named in accordance with the projects naming convention and have been uploaded to relevant workflow.
  • Monitor workflows ensuring time scales and user efficiency.
  • To manage several projects on the system simultaneously.
  • The issuing of drawings & information for construction purposes.
  • Where master files are kept in the technical department ensure these are filed in order and kept up to date
  • Complete regular system audits on site use.
  • Responsible for the general day to day management of the document control system for the project.
  • Monitor consultants uploading, ensuring all necessary protocols and QA processes are followed, identify issues and close them out efficiently.
  • In conjunction with our Digital Information Manager provide initial and ongoing training for new starters on how to use the document control system.
  • Ensure all users of document control system have correct security permissions levels and accessibility.
  • Regularly monitor approvals of drawings on Viewpoint/ provide necessary information for updating Information required schedules.
  • Support the teams with setting up subcontract package folders on Viewpoint.
  • Support the teams with usage of RFI/Tasks on Viewpoint
  • Support the users in using all required systems, Teams/SharePoint etc.
  • Assisting in general uploading of documentation where required
  • Collation/QA check of As Built drawings

Public Right of Way Inspector

Equans is looking for a Public Right of Way Inspector to join our team our partnership team in North East Lincolnshire Council on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary between £21,255 - £23,0000 and benefits package.

EQUANS is North East Lincolnshire Council’s long-term Regeneration Partner delivering a number of services on their behalf, including the Highways & Transport Service.

The individual will be part of a team that has responsibility, under delegated powers, to ensure that the Local Authority discharges its statutory duty for the inspection, assessment and maintenance of public rights of way to ensure it is safe for all users of the network and the wider community, having regard to core objectives of safety, serviceability and sustainability.

What will you deliver?

    • Undertake site inspections of Definitive Public Rights of Way. Inspect and record condition of signs and way markers and arrange repair/replace and order works as necessary to maintain the highway network in a safe condition.
    • Identify and plan programmes of works to keep the PROW network in good and safe condition.
    • Undertake daily visits to the PROW network, mainly in the open countryside and involving the negotiation of gates, bridges and stiles. The work of the post may necessitate that these visits take place during inclement weather.
    • To receive, investigate and resolve complaints, liaising and negotiating with landowners, the public and partnership organisations.
    • To investigate issues relating to the application for a public path order
    • To monitor the implementation of public path orders to ensure that they are implemented in accordance with approved plans.
    • To draft and serve notices under the Highways Act 1980 and other relevant legislation.
    • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders including client officers, elected members, the general public, land owners, parish councils, neighbouring authorities, emergency services and any other interested parties on matters relating to public rights of way.

What will you deliver?

  • To provide consultation and support to residents prior to, during and after works to their homes,ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction

Quantity Surveyor

EQUANS are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to be based in Liverpool. This is a fixed term (7 months) full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance, bonus and benefits package.

 

General Overview

Job role is for a flagship £32m 10 storey apartment block in Liverpool City Centre, applicant must have experience in a similar role and demonstrable experience in Supply Chain package management on a project of this size and nature.

To take responsibility, ownership and accountability of the successful management and control all aspects of the commercial / financial and contractual elements of the designated project in order to control and maximise the company’s profitability, protect the companies legal and contractual obligations under the contract and to manage proactively the control of all commercial issues.

Ensure applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms and also ensuring sub-contractors receive prompt payment and are procured in line with our contractual obligations and Commitments to Subcontractors.  In addition, ensuring cost reports and the like are managed, completed on time and monitored.  To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy. Assist in the development of junior members of the commercial team.

Key Accountabilities

Drawing take-offs and site measurement

  • Carry out Take-off exercises prior to scheme commencement.
  • Execute ongoing site re-measurement of measured works.
  • Carry out site checks & recording of variations to accurately produce Internal and External valuations.

Subcontract procurement and order placement

  • Receive Subcontract Procurement Schedule from management and ensure procurement is carried out in line with it.
  • Produce accurate Tender reviews and analysis’ are produced and submitted to management for review and comment. Complete Subcontract Recommendations and ensure appropriate approval obtained.
  • Produce accurate and robust Subcontracts to ensure risk is mitigated and reported margins are maintained.

Subcontract Account Management

  • Ensure compliance with the Commercial Timetable at all times. Produce accurate Subcontract Liability documents including forecast final accounts, production and necessary approval of Subcontract payments and subsequent payment notices. Ensure documents are presented to management in a timely manner for the review process.

Rebate reportage

  • Ensure rebates are reviewed prior to subcontract procurement and that subcontract orders are placed in line with supply chain agreements.
  • Completion of the rebate applications on a monthly basis and submitted to Rebate Champion.

 

Operative bonus payments

  • Obtain weekly bonus sheets from directly employed operative.
  • Check against Site Manager’s weekly time sheet.
  • Apply pre-agreed bonus targets.
  • Administration of payments.

Monthly cost value reports

  • Produce a full, detailed CVR in line with Commercial timetable on each live project.  Ensure documents are presented to management in timely manner for review process.
  • Assist in the production of performance review document for senior management.
  • Assist with the presentation of the current Cost Value Report to senior management during performance review.

Management of change orders/variation accounts

  • Accurately record occurrence of any change orders; whether client or contractor led.
  • Pricing of change order to establish cost and value.
  • Production of early warning notice / change order for submission to client.
  • Update Cost Value Report ensuring both cost and value are updated prior to monthly report.
  • Update projected final account to be submitted to client with monthly valuation claim.
  • Value engineering process to ensure best value for client and to maximise internal contribution.

External valuations

  • Produce External Valuations ensuring accurate information from site measures and subcontract accounts to enable the completion of the monthly external valuations. Ensure documents are presented to management in a timely manner for review process before submission.
  • Ensure cash position is maximised.
  • Ensure projected final account is updated monthly.
  • Ensure cash flow is updated in line with previous Certified amounts and any Change Orders, and submitted with monthly valuation claim.
  • Ensure interim certificate is obtained in line with the Contract Dates and invoiced accordingly.

Internal valuations

  • Produce internal Valuations. Ensure accurate information from site measures and subcontract accounts to enable the completion of the monthly internal valuation. Ensure documents are presented to management in a timely manner for review process before submission.
  • Ensure that accurate information on change orders to enable the completion of monthly internal valuation in carried out.
  • Ensure the production of internal valuations are completed prior to monthly Cost Value Reports.

Final Accounts

  • Ensure that Final Accounts are submitted, assessed and agreed within a reasonable time period for every Subcontractor. Final Account statements are executed before the release of any final payment and/or retentions. Ensure documents are presented to management in a timely manner for review process before execution with Subcontractor.
  • Produce Final Account for submission to the Client, ensuring all change orders are encompassed and all risk items are mitigated. Ensure documents are presented to management in a timely manner for review process.  

General contract administration

  • Ensuring Contractual data is stored correctly. Utilising online systems where applicable.
  • Archiving completed schemes.

Management and Development of Trainee/ Assistant QS and Quantity Surveyors

  • Assist where required in the development of members of the team.
