We are committed to providing cutting edge solutions for our clients Data Centre facilities and are recruitment a Senior Project Manager – Construction to join our innovative team.  The Senior Project Manager – Construction will be responsible for managing a team and the construction aspects of large projects from inception to completion, within set timescales, to high quality standards and within health and safety guidelines.

What you will deliver? 

  • Manage a team to ensure work is carried out in full conformance with quality, environmental and safety standards.
  • Be an expert and provide guidance and direction to ensure operational excellence.
  • Coordinate and control the on-site construction process ensuring the site build progresses in line with plan.
  • Develop and support the overall programming and planning of the build.
  • Manage groundworks and internal fit out.
  • Build and maintaining positive relationships with clients to ensure that contracts are delivered in accordance with project agreements and best practice.
  • Attend site meetings, effectively communicate and provide information for Progress Reports.
  • Chair and minute the subcontractor meetings.
  • Recording and reporting key metrics to team members and management.
  • Operational support including review of procedures, best practices and initiatives.

Who are we looking for?

Sustainability Compliance Officer

Equans is looking for a Sustainability Compliance Officer to join our team in Nottingham, on a permanent basis to support the Regional Sustainability Team in adhering to scheme delivery requirements in line with funding and accreditation requirements and maintaining the necessary associated accreditations.

This role will be responsible for collating, validating and preparing PAS 2030:2019 compliance paperwork to Clients, Energy Suppliers and Accreditation Bodies on a weekly basis, operating within contractual deadlines to ensure compliance This is a full time role. What will you deliver?

  • Producing of all necessary paperwork associated with installation of Energy Efficiency measure in line with PAS 2030:2019 process
  • Working closely with scheme Retrofit Coordinators ensuring PAS installation paperwork is provided in line with the main contract programmes
  • Maintain a wide knowledge and understanding of the sector and pass this knowledge onto the wider regional team
  • Provide compliance advice to regional delivery teams regarding energy efficiency measures

Highway Inspector

EQUANS is looking for a Highway Inspector to join our team in Grimsby. This is a permanent role working full time hours. On offer is a competitive salary between £23,500 - £26,000 depending on skills and experience and benefits package.

What will you deliver? 

The individual will be part of a team that has responsibility, under delegated powers, to ensure that the Local Authority discharges its statutory duty for the inspection, assessment and maintenance of the highway to ensure it is safe for all users of the network and the wider community, having regard to core objectives of safety, serviceability and sustainability. Investigation of possible breaches of planning and highway legislation in accordance with national and local policy and procedures.

Under delegated powers, Equans are required to undertake effective and systematic regimes of inspection, assessment and maintenance of the highway network to ensure the local authority discharges its statutory duty under the Highways Act 1980.   The post holder is responsible, on a daily basis, for inspecting, assessing and prioritising reactive maintenance works on the highway to ensure the safety of the highway user.  The decisions the post holder make are crucial in the support of the statutory defence (Section 58 of the Highways Act 1980) and ensures the local authority can manage its liability and risk in the event of legal proceedings against it.  

  • To inspect, investigate and order works as necessary to maintain the highway network in a safe condition.
  • To conform to legislation, policy, codes of practice, procedures and standards to ensure a robust and consistent approach to highway maintenance.
  • To maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure the local authority has adequate records for future reference and to enable the local authority to establish a defence against any action or liability claim that may arise.
  • Working within strict legal protocols and timescales, assist with the processing of third-party insurance claims, providing inspection and maintenance records, meeting claimants and solicitors on site, providing statements of evidence and attending court for cross examination in defence of the local authority.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders including client officers, elected members, the general public, parish councils, neighbouring authorities, emergency services and any other interested parties on matters relating to highway services.
  • To investigate stakeholder enquiries within prescribed timescales as directed by Highway Asset Engineer and Highway Maintenance Technician’s, often including complex and diverse issues and advise on potential solutions to problems to ensure the safety of the highway network.
  • To assist with the investigation of freedom of information requests within prescribed timescales.
  • To inspect the work of in-house labour force, contractors, or other third parties working on the highway, and to take any necessary measures to ensure their compliance with relevant legislation, specifications, standards and codes of practice.            
  • To identify and report on the need for more substantial improvement works on the highway, beyond the scope of reactive maintenance, for example roads requiring reconstruction, resurfacing, surface dressing and slurry sealing.
  • When required, provide advice to third parties working in the highway, and if necessary, intervene to stop unsafe working practices.
  • To assist with the enforcement of relevant legislation to ensure the safety of the highway network.
  • To investigate and assist with the processing of applications for the construction of vehicular footway or verge crossings.

Senior Highways Engineer

Equans is looking for a Senior Highways Engineer to join our team in Grimsby. This is a permanent role working full time hours. On offer is a competitive salary between £42,000 - £47,000 depending on skills and experience and benefits package.  

This role is based in Grimsby office, you may be required to travel to sites from time to time therefor a driving license is required. We offer the option to work from home up to 2 days per week.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Equans’ Professional Services function, a multi-disciplinary design consultancy including Civil, Structures, Infrastructure and Build.

Equans is North East Lincolnshire Council’s long-term Regeneration Partner delivering a number of services on their behalf, including the Highways Design Service. We are proud of our established, successful and award winning partnership - our team having secured a number of high profile regeneration and infrastructure projects, as well as being responsible for delivery of the Local Transport Plan for North East Lincolnshire.  This role supports the team in their delivery of a first-class service to its customers and fully contributes to delivering sustainable development and growth in North East Lincolnshire.

You will be part of the Professional Services team, dealing with a variety of infrastructure projects including highway maintenance to large capital civil and structural projects. Examples of previous projects have been a number of multi million regeneration schemes within Grimsby and Cleethorpes enhancing the public realm, and delivery of new trunk roads and industrial estate access roads to promote business development in the area.

You will join an expanding team of engineers, technicians, apprentices and site support staff.  Enthusiastic and dedicated, you will have demonstrable experience in design and management of highway projects, the ability to supervise people and projects and work independently

What will you deliver?

  • As Senior HD Engineer, responsibility for supervision and development of junior members of the team.
  • Where appointed, support the EQUANS Project Manager in the delivery of major schemes
  • Manage and co-ordinate workload to achieve project deliverables within the agreed time, quality, and financial objectives.
  • Develop design briefs, prepare feasibility studies and detailed designs, specifications, scheme reports and contract data on a variety of projects.  Undertake design work with an innovative approach considering conservation, sustainability and budget.
  • Lead and contribute to design reviews ensuring design quality, monitor emerging legislation and engineering standards.

Who are we looking for?

  • Qualified to HND/C level with a preference for degree level or equivalent knowledge sills and experience.
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body or working towards Chartership is desirable but not essential.
  • A proven track record in the Highways and Transportation industry.

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Equans Data Centers is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based on a Data Center project in Newport, South Wales.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work with the project teams and assist managing the commercial performance of the projects.  The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide expert advice on all commercial aspects of the projects including the management of costs and contractual matters.

 

What you will deliver?

  • Carry out the commercial activities to meet the project objectives, by providing advice, guidance and support to the project team.
  • Ensure compliance and governance in respect to various forms of contract including JCT, NEC etc.
  • Handle the contract and execute financial reviews and continually monitor projected costs and control within budget.
  • Take ownerships of and be responsible for the project cost budget and provide guidance and direction as required.
  • Ensure variations to the contracts are priced and agreed at the earliest opportunity.
  • Ensure commercial control of projects are maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present financial control/WIP/CVR documents and submit reports as required for month end results, forecast and activity reports.
  • Fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans.

FRA Site Manager

Equans is looking for an FRA Site Manager to join our team working across the Northeast of England. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

 

The main purpose of the role is to assist the Contract Manager in the delivery of a high performing, effective and efficient /compliant FRA works and Refurbishment Service including the monitoring of a team of Trade Operatives and Sub-Contractors.

Responsible for the managing a team and sub-contractors delivering a wide range of FRA works, and Refurbishment works.  Responsible for the efficient use of resources and ensuring that, job planning, appointments, resource allocation, materials, plant and equipment are effectively utilised and continuously improved in accordance with service delivery targets.  The Site Manager is also responsible for bringing to the attention of the Contract Manager any arrangements/proposals that will improve job control, operational performance, relationships with Client’s representatives and maximise the utilisation of the Company’s IT system.

What will you deliver?

  • Providing support, mentoring and continual guidance for the team, reporting back to the Contract Manager where needed.
  • Ensure all activities meet with requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies, and general duty of care – Seeking further advise where appropriate.
  • Undertake appraisals to capture the development needs of each individual, with a focus on succession planning.
  • To either mobilise or provide absence cover in accordance with your Job role and position within the organisation.
  • Recommend necessary changes to improve performance based on analysis of weekly/daily Key Performance Indicator statistics.

Sustainability Partnership Manager

EQUANS is looking for a Sustainability Partnership Manager to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

The main purpose of the job is to work closely with Birmingham City Council to develop and deliver on their housing decarbonisation strategy. Assessing their stock and working closely with the wider Equans and BCC team to develop retrofit schemes and funding proposals from conception through to delivery.

 

What will you deliver? 

  • Be the key point of contact for Birmingham City Council on the development of all domestic housing decarbonisation schemes.
  • Lead on the development of Retrofit Schemes including assessment of stock, development of viable technical solutions in line with required outputs, and development of funding solutions.
  • Providing guidance and support to operational teams ensuring all Retrofit/Sustainability schemes are delivered in line with funding and technical compliance i.e. PAS 2030:2019, PAS 2035:2019, MCS etc, working closely with Central Sustainability Team to ensure compliance.
  • Be the ‘BCC expert’ on Energy Efficiency and Retrofit, ensuring the Senior Leadership Teams are kept up to date on market opportunities to drive the Business Plan.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of opportunities on order to deliver in line with Regional Business Plan Targets.

Bid Manager

Equans is looking for a Bid Manager to join our bid team in Hatfield. The role is permanent and full-time. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. But more than this, you’ll be working with, and being coached by, some of the most experienced and expert Bid Managers in the sector.

The role is based within Equans’ Places & communities South working winning team. You’ll be responsible for managing the entire bid process from research to tender submission and onto interview.

In P&C South, our Bid Team typically scores top on quality every time. If you’re an experienced Bid Manager with a proven track record of excellent quality scores, we want to hear from you.

What do we need?

We need someone who:

  • appreciates best practice bidding aligned to APMP and PAS360;
  • understands our clients and the markets we operate in;
  • has around 5 years’ experience of tier one or main contractor competitive tendering within the public sector (ideally with social housing experience);
  • knows what makes a compelling bid;
  • can manage the entire bid process in collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • has negotiation, influencing skills, and time management skills;
  • is used to working well under pressure with challenging deadlines;
  • is educated to A Level or above;
  • has some experience of using Adobe InDesign; and
  • has or is working towards  APMP Foundation.

What will you deliver? 

The Bid Manager role is responsible for:

  • implementing our proven bid and governance procedures;
  • maintaining our quality strike rate and achieving our internal bid Service Level Agreement;
  • planning, managing, and submitting Expressions of Interest, Selection Questionnaires, and tenders;
  • manging a range of stakeholder input including business development, operations, commercial, H&S, sustainability, social value, and legal.
  • identifying and tracking the bid programme and any associated risks;
  • driving the capture and planning phase of each bid;
  • ensuring win themes are clear and compelling;
  • planning, drafting, writing, and coordinating question responses;
  • identifying best practice in bidding and making sure we continually improve;
  • helping to plan interviews;
  • producing presentations for interview teams;
  • visiting operational sites and other offices to gather information and improve our evidence library;
  • enriching our bid library with active knowledge management, ensuring all lessons learned are fed back and implemented;
  • researching the ways that we can improve bid content;
  • developing creative approaches to writing and presentation;
  • reviewing bid submissions for quality and accuracy;
  • ensuring the bid meets our quality benchmarks; and
  • helping to manage our team bid library.

We work on bids that range in value from £1 million to £500 million. Most of our bids are for the refurbishment of social housing, although public and commercial buildings are increasingly important. We work closely with a dedicated Estimating team who are responsible for handling the pricing element of bids. Our region covers the home counties, South East, and East of England. The work winning team manages up to 10 bids at a time, so it’s important to use our collective knowledge and experience to ensure we all succeed. While most of our bid opportunities follow a public procurement route, you will occasionally prepare and submit proactive pitch or proposal documents outside of a formal procurement.
