Equans is looking for a Shift Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on a six-month fixed term contract basis. This is a full-time role working 39.375 hours per week. This is based on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off made up of two days 0700 – 1900 and two nights 1900 – 0700.
On offer is a salary of £26,000 per annum plus a shift allowance and benefits package.
What will you deliver?

Carry out fault finding, repairs, and other tasks within their skill set. Supervisors and managers will support and offer guidance and instruction for more complex faults

Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to his/her skill level, without supervision

Perform a wide range of work to your skill level. e.g., lamping, unblocking toilets, minor painting, assisting trade staff on PPM duties, fault-finding on non-complex equipment and assisting in electrical/plumbing/building installation work

Manufacture, assemble and install new work as appropriate to your skill level

Understand the general working of the hospital’s Estates Department, so that work can be carried out in the most efficient manner and be pro-active in developing new ways of working

Requirement to learn new techniques with training, as necessary. This may include for example Procedures for releasing trapped persons in lifts and Statutory requirements for ladder inspections

Carry out unsupervised minor maintenance and repairs and report any defects, unusual circumstances, delays, or difficulties encountered to the AEM/Supervisor

Ensure all Planned Preventative Maintenance work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions
- Work as part of a shift team on a 4 on 4 off basis

Who are we looking for?

Previous appropriate working experience or training, in skills development, including the safe use of tools and equipment

Working towards a formal qualification in a relevant discipline
-
Experience in a building maintenance or industrial environment
-
Able to record information accurately e.g., log sheets, list of material requirements

Ability to use hand tools, associated trade tools, equipment and machinery for maintenance, repair, and minor improvement/new work to required standard

Understand requirements of working in an environment similar to that found in health care premises
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
