Equans is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Dungeness, Kent on a permanent basis for our EDF contract. This is a full time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

Job Description:

Equans are looking for an experienced and qualified mechanical fitter with strong maintenance knowledge. The candidate will be expected to join a team of engineers that maintain ventilation systems and associated plant within the nuclear facility.

Technical Competences:
• Formal and recognised apprenticeship served in relevant skill area or minimum of 4 years relevant and practical experience within control and instrumentation.
• Awareness of risk assessment and working safely with electronic test equipment
• Able to service and fault find on both conventional and Bespoke installations.
• Ability to follow work instructions, read/ interpret technical diagrams and report technical information as required
• Electrical fault finding & rectification skills

Qualifications or Required Experience:
• Level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Engineering Maintenance, or similar
• Level 3 Diploma in Installing Engineering Construction Plant and Systems – Mechanical Fitting
• Level 3 Combined Diploma in Process Engineering Maintenance
• OR
• Demonstrable, Similar Level of Mechanical or Mechanical Maintenance Experience

• CCNSG Qualified including COSHH
• Equans Manual Handling
• EDF Energy – Safe Unescorted Access to Site (Site Specific)
• EDF Energy – Entry into Radiation and Contamination Controlled Areas
• EDF Energy – Generic Dressing / Undressing for CCA

Accountabilities
Planning & Organising
•Work with appropriate line supervisors to ensure that tasks are planned and delivered to client specification and agreed service requirements.
•Plan and prioritise work

Operational Responsibilities
•Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H/S and Environmental regulations
•Repair systems, plant or equipment to the required standard
•Install, commission and service plant equipment
•Diagnose, fault find, debug and commission systems where required
•Provide out of hours cover where required
•Complete relevant paperwork
•Compliant with all safety related policies and procedures

Teamwork
•Establish good working relationships with other team members, provide guidance to others (e.g. apprentices)
•Willingly contribute to the overall team and company objectives, responding quickly to new directives

Health & Safety
•Reads and understands the relevant generic Risk Assessment
•Completes Point of work Risk Assessment
•Ensures appropriate PPE is worn/used and is good working order
•Ensures work area is protected using appropriate barriers/signs
•Ensures full training has been received for each aspect of the job
•Ensures work area is left safe on completion of the job
•Uses appropriate access equipment where necessary
