Hydrogen Delivery Council Working Group Appoints New Chair From Equans
James Graham, Divisional CEO at Equans UK & Ireland, has been appointed as the new chair of the Jobs, Skills and Supply Chain working group, a sub-group of the Government’s Hydrogen Delivery Council. The Council is the primary forum for Department for Energy Security and Net Zero ministers to engage with senior representatives from the hydrogen sector.
As chair of the working group, James will focus his work on accelerating supply chain growth and skills development, including exploring new ways to attract a diverse workforce into the industry to support the delivery of the UK’s Hydrogen ambitions.
As the leader of Equans’ Digital & Energy Services business, James has overarching responsibility for its UK hydrogen activities - with knowledge, experience and established links within the hydrogen supply chain.
Commenting on his appointment as incoming Chair of the working group James Graham said:
“I am delighted to be appointed as Chair of the Jobs, Skills and Supply Chain working group and look forward to working collaboratively with its members to drive initiatives that will support the Government’s objectives of maximising the value of the UK’s hydrogen economy.
"My role will be to lead the working group on a number of key projects, including a programme of works to develop and implement an industry-led Hydrogen Supply Chain Strategy and ensure the UK and industry attracts the skills and talent it requires.
"From my work with Equans, I will be able to bring specialist knowledge of the physical delivery of hydrogen projects, and a good understanding of the barriers and opportunities for the hydrogen jobs, skills and supply chains both in the UK and internationally.”
James will officially begin his position of Chair of the Jobs, Skills and Supply Chain working group in June 2024.

As a business, Equans has delivered over 20 hydrogen projects across Western Europe, at varying stages of maturity from innovation projects through to operational commercial projects, and is a leading green hydrogen specialist with end-to-end experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and renewable energy. In the UK, Equans is Principal Contractor on the Tyseley Ammonia Cracker project in Birmingham, the world largest and most efficient ammonia to hydrogen converter of its kind. Equans has recently completed installation and is currently commissioning the facility which will deliver 200kg/day of transport-grade hydrogen. Equans is also designing a green hydrogen production facility for a UK Government backed project that will provide zero carbon hydrogen directly to an industrial site with difficult to electrify processes.
