Working in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council, EQUANS is looking for a School Crossing to join our team in Grimsby on a permanent basis. This is a part-time role working 5 hours per week (term time only). On offer is a salary of £2,340 per annum and benefits package. 

 

You will ensure the safety of children crossing the road at a designated location point between specified times.  A School Crossing Patrol Officer is an essential asset to the local community around them as they will be contributing towards children’s safety getting to and from school.  The ideal candidate for the role is someone living close to the school so its easy for them to get to and from their place of work.

What will you deliver? 

    • Carry out Equans and North East Lincolnshire Council’s policy with regard to the School Crossing Patrol Service, this includes Health and Safety Procedures.
    • Use the uniform and equipment provided for the safety of you, parents, children, and all other members of the public, especially when stopping traffic on the highway.
    • Maintain control over pedestrians who are awaiting your instruction to cross.
    • Report any problems or difficulties to the Road Safety Education Officer/School Crossing Patrol Supervisor.
    • Attend a yearly local training seminar.
    • The post holder must carry out his or her duties with full regard to the organisations Equal Opportunities Policy.

Who are we looking for? 

 

    • Experience of working in or around a school environment.
    • Experience of working with children and young people.
    • Able to communicate effectively with children and adults alike.  
    • Able to work unsupervised after induction and have the ability to time keep.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
    • Willing to undertake training and continuous professional development in connection with the post.

This role includes a Enhanced DBS with Barred List check therefore ability to pass is essential.
