Equans is looking for an Operations Manager to join our team at North Middlesex University Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The post holder will be responsible for the contractual performance through the management of a designated facilities service, ensuring a high level of service is carried out in accordance with the contract specification and company procedures and to manage all associated subcontractors in accordance with company procedures and ensure that activities comply with client protocols.

We are looking for an individual with previous hard FM experience, ideally with a mechanical bias.

What will you deliver?

  • Responsible for the delivery of services to the highest standard, ensuring the effective management of staff, the provision of excellent customer service and compliance with contract and company requirements
  • Responsible for the effective management of contractual performance, including the incurrence of financial penalties, to ensure that all services are delivered to the contract specification and that all changes, developments and additional services are recorded accordingly with the commercial activity of the contract
  • To exercise financial and commercial controls in the management of expenditure and income within agreed budgets. To maximise profitability of operations and deliver ongoing cost savings
  • To recruit, select, motivate and manage the service teams where appropriate and to ensure continual training and staff development
  • To assist in the formulation of budgets, business plans and departmental strategies to meet the demands of service provision and continuous improvement
  • To actively promote services within relevant locations, creating effective marketing strategies in order to sustain and encourage new business opportunities
  • The effective management of all HR related issues for staff ensuring the close liaison with the contract’s HR Manager to ensure that all issues are dealt with in accordance with company procedures and timescales, including probationary and performance reviews,  absence, disciplinary, and performance management appraisals
  • To lead and manage service delivery and customer contact, to ensure the provision of highest impressions of quality, customer care, proactivity and professionalism to our customer/clients and staff
  • To manage the business cost effectively with respect to supply chain efficiency in order to achieve best value for money in the procurement of services and goods
  • To manage all associated subcontracted services and to ensure that subcontractors are able to carry out their duties in a safe and timely manner and that work is contractually compliant.  Complete all associated paperwork and conduct regular service review meetings
  • To ensure appropriate training provisions on induction and use of equipment and to identify training needs for the service.  Provide continuous on-the-job training and carry out toolbox talks on a regular basis
  • To deputise for the Senior Operations Manager as required
  • To promote the company’s image in all aspects of  work, ensuring employees wear the correct uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring personal hygiene and appearance meets the company’s approval at all times
  • To present a professional and polite image to all customers whilst maintaining and promoting good communication and developing relationships with the client, other service partners and colleagues at all levels, ensuring the delivery of consistently high standards of customer service

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven background in Facilities Management
  • A proven track record working in Healthcare-desirable
  • Strong Commercial awareness
  • Must have Mechanical experience
  • Ability to show understanding of Local Authority legislation
  • High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate. 

This role includes a DBS Basic check therefore ability to pass is essential.
