Equans is looking for a Technical Project Manager-Defects to join our team in Smethwick on a 12-month fixed term contract basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £50,000-£60,000, dependent upon skills and experience, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

 

Reporting to the Head of Estates. The post will be responsible for assisting in the technical management and planning of defects on the new facilities throughout the initial Defect Liability Period (DLP).

This is a unique opportunity to be involved at an early stage to work closely with the client and construction team to manage the resolution of post construction defects.

The new facility is a 9-story new built acute hospital due for completion in 2024.

The role includes the identification of defects, technical review and advice for rectification, onsite supervisor And management of remedial works and assistance with financial control of works.

The systems installed within the facility shall, include but not be limited to:

  • Complex close control air conditioning
  • Domestic water systems
  • Medical gases
  • Central boiler plant
  • Combined heat and power systems
  • Chillers
  • Sprinkler system
  • Lifts
  • Pneumatic tube systems
  • Water treatment including chemical and reverse osmosis
  • Automatic Guided Vehicle system
  • ETFE roof
  • Building access systems including man-safe systems and cradle systems
  • Drainage
  • Building fabric include windows and external cladding
  • Photo voltaic system

The Technical Project Manager-Defects will be an essential member of the team tasked with ensuring that process for the rectification is managed in an effective and efficient way inline with the contractual; requirement to protect the interest of all involved parties and to minimize disruption of the operation of the facility and delivery of services

What will you deliver?

  • Have a high level of technical knowledge covering complex system installed within a healthcare environment
  • Providing technical inspection, review, and evaluation of complex mechanical, electrical, and building fabric systems and infrastructure
  • Receive and review complex reports and analysis
  • Question and challenge information provided where appropriate
  • Undertake audits and reviews to identify potential issues
  • Manage designers and consultants to enable suitable solutions to be provided and delivered
  • Site management of complex schemes in an operational facility
  • Cost and programme management of schemes
  • Management of health and safety on site

Who are we looking for?

  • Must have Mechanical and/or electrical and/or fabric experience within a Healthcare environment preferably in a similar role
  • Have experience and ability to undertake a project management role including complex services on a healthcare facility
  • Provide strong review, challenge and positive critic of installed services based on agreed quality and performance standards
  • Clear communicate findings and results of assessments of a complex nature in both verbal and written reports
  • Take a lead in developing and maintaining a strong health and safety culture
  • Positively manage relationships with stakeholders and Trust representatives to enhance perception of service provision
  • Be prepared to undertake any relevant training in order to develop the post in line with changing needs of the service provision
  • Maintain records as appropriate
  • Liaise and undertake duties at other EQUANS projects as directed
  • Maintain confidentiality of information at all times
  • Experience of risk management and health and safety
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry guidelines
  • Computer literate with good IT skills to include BIM 360, AutoCAD, and Windows based packages 

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
