Equans is looking for a Shift Electrician to join our team at Birmingham City Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full- time role working 40.25 hours per week. This is based on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, 12-hour shifts, working between the hours of 7am – 7pm. On offer is a salary banding of £34,000 – £36,000 per annum dependent upon skills and experience plus a shift allowance and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

  • Undertake a proactive role carrying out maintenance, repairs and inspection on electrical systems, and mechanical and associated building services. All in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance

  • As part of a skilled engineering team you will carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to various services across site and will involve varied tasks such as working on Lighting Systems, Nurse Call,

    L.V Electrical Installations, Security Systems, Motors, Pumps and associated building services in accordance with the PPM programme

  • Respond in the required time to ad-hoc breakdown requests as identified by supervisor / manager or as a minimum, to comply with contractual KPI’s

  • Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works

  • Carry out systematic fault finding in a logical and safe manner on malfunctioning equipment

Who are we looking for?

  • Previously worked within a maintenance environment

  • At least 3 years post apprenticeship experience within a maintenance environment

  • Good electrical knowledge – ability to fault find and repair electrical systems

  • Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level

  • GCSE / O Level Mathematics and English or equivalent

  • Prepared to work out of hours as necessary

  • Prepared to travel to other sites within the Company

  • Possess a current valid driving licence

  • Previously worked within a healthcare maintenance environment (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems (Desirable)
  • Previous Competent Person/Authorised Person experience including LV/HV systems (Desirable)
  • City and Guild Inspection and Testing (Desirable)

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
