Equans is looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer to join our team in The University of Cambridge, Cambridge on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. 

As a Multi Skilled Engineer you will be providing all-round engineering support, maintaining the building infrastructure. Have a detailed understanding of all new or current Building Services systems and contingency procedures within the buildings,and complying with the Health & Safety/building codes of practice. The Multi skilled engineers are to work alongside the lead multi skilled engineer and are responsible for ensuring that all activities within the building are undertaken with a professional and conscientious outlook with regards to the quality of work and Health & Safety, maintaining the 100% uptime criteria.

What will you deliver? 

  • To be familiar with and understand the site contingency plans for dealing with emergency situations
  • With the diverse nature of our customers business and continued up time being a priority, means essential maintenance may need to be carried outside of normal hours and therefore a flexible approach to work is essential
  • To carry out scheduled maintenance tasks, repairs and operations of equipment and services in accordance with best practice
  • To ensure that the lead engineers are kept informed of all aspects of safety performance, plant performance and customers circumstances
  • The shift rota is a 4 on 4 off days (0700-1900) of 12 hours shifts
  • To assist in producing Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • To report all incidents and accidents, including near misses to the Account Manager and log on the AIMS Portal

Who are we looking for? 


  • Apprenticeship, primary trade qualifications and substantial experience within a building services environment. LV Authorised
  • C&G 236 Parts 1 and 2 or mechanical equivalent
  • 18th Edition IEE: Wiring & Installation
  • Critical services environment experience
  • Proficient level of IT skills
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure
  • Ability to diagnose faults and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and in writing
  • Must have a full clean UK driving licence

This role includes an enhanced DBS check (including barred lists) therefore ability to pass is essential.
