We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior M&E Technician (Electrical Bias) to join our Facilities Management team at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People based in Little France, Edinburgh.  This is a permanent position working 48 hours per week. The role will be on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, and working hours will be 0900 – 21:00. There will be participation in an out of hours on call rota, and overtime when necessary.

Key activities:

  • You will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within the healthcare environment.
  • The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of SHTMs (Specialized Healthcare Technical Memorandum), PPMs (Planned Preventative Maintenance), and SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Have advanced knowledge of engineering building services installation and maintenance techniques.
  • Demonstrate advanced competence at level 3 in theory and practice or equivalent in a relevant Electrical or Electrical discipline.
  • May also have Leader responsibilities, providing general supervision of Craft or Operative Maintenance Assistants or leading a small team as a Shift Lead Line Manager.  
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed within time scales, planning and prioritising works to agreed deadlines

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Electrical Technician or similar role in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SHTM (Sottish Healthcare Technical Memorandum), PPMs (Planned
  • Preventative Maintenance), and SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Excellent understanding of Engineering Building Services installation and maintenance techniques.
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

  • The role requires the successful candidate to obtain a PVG certificate. You will not be able to start until this is in place.
