Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Grounds Operative to join our facilities team at the University of Brighton Accommodation site in Brighton.  This is a permanent full-time position working 35 hours per week from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. 

Key Activities:

  • Reporting to the Service Manager
  • Maintain the grounds to a professional standard including emptying outdoor bins, litter picking and road sweeping
  • Jet washing of external slabs & stairways
  • Seasonal clearance of fallen leaves and and removal of fallen branches; snow clearing 
  • Strimming, mowing, weeding
  • Use relevant tools and equipment, drive company vehicles and machinery safely
  • Assist trades staff in maintenance work when needed
  • Assist with stores / move stock and materials
  • Effective graffiti removal and application of graffiti resistant products.
  • Working 35 hours per week, from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience of grounds work is preferred
  • Good standard of fitness appropriate to the tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills and a high standard of work and attention to detail
  • Good organisation skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise work using own initiative
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, and to represent the company in a professional manner to the client and public
  • Ability to work within a team or autonomously
  • Multi-skilled with a flexible, proactive, can-do approach
  • Familiar with Health & Safety procedures
