EQUANS is looking for a Commercial Manager to join our team in London on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

The Commercial Manager will form part of the team reporting day to day into the Operations Director for the delivery of FM service to the London 2 portfolio of contracts and MOPAC. Direct reporting line will be to the London Senior Commercial Manager.

The Commercial Manager will work closely with and manage numerous stakeholder relationships, in particular with the wider Commercial and Finance support function and also including those with client representatives; Equan’s operational teams and other colleagues who provide functional support to the contracts.

Excellent Commercial and Finance acumen are essential for fulfilling this role. Contract changes and variations management, alongside risk and opportunity management and reporting are key to the financial outcome for the portfolio.

 

What will you deliver?

To deliver commercial management for the portfolio, working closely with the Finance function and clearly communicate to the senior leadership team potential risks, ensuring costs are minimized and in line with budgets and forecast and mitigation of risk:

  • Identifying, monitoring and reporting on risks and opportunities
  • Mitigation of risks at all levels (operational, financial, commercial, technical, etc)
  • Identify, manage and submit variations and manage variation/change control process to capture revenue
  • Identify, manage and submit Early Warning Notices and manage the EWN process or similar
  • Review Applications for Payment prior to submission
  • Ensuring that the requirements of the contracts and Equan’s own internal governance processes are being complied with regarding the raising of requisitions for costs
  • Manage the contracts Supply Chain with regards to subcontractor costs
  • Identify, develop and implement opportunities for efficiencies and service optimisation in all cash-flow related processes
  • Supporting the Projects Teams in the preparation of Project quotes
  • Working closely with the Finance Business Partner to support with the accurate reporting and preparation of accounts

Has commercial and contracts experience and demonstrable track record of owning and administering pre and post contract activity, including:

  • KPI reporting, management and mitigation
  • Sound financial acumen (P&L), and good understanding of financial modelling
  • Producing reports and summaries (ad hoc and regular) which can articulate key matters for a senior and/or non-commercial audience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong & confident communicator able to successfully engage and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Confident decision-maker.  Resilient and self-motivated
  • Starter – Finisher: seeing activities through to successful completion whilst creating a platform for engagement & collaboration
  • The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Drafting and Management of variation/change control
  • Repository for confidential/commercially sensitive information
  • Support in governance within the contracts to ensure that the requirements of the contract are being complied with
  • Aiding the quality of service by ensuring awareness of contractual responsibilities among all other Equans colleagues (including contract deliverables, scope of services etc)
  • Assisting in the search for cost efficiencies and profit optimization
  • Enforcing commercial compliance (by audit and support against Equans Minimum Commercial Standards)
  • Taking a key supporting role in the management of contractual claims / disputes with clients and other third parties
  • Subcontract drafting and negotiation
  • Assist in Production of claims to any potential contentious contractual issue that may arise

Who are we looking for?

  • Suitable commercial experience within a similar industry sector
  • Educated to degree/ diploma level in either Law, Quantity Surveying or Accounting
  • Experience in submission for payment application and preparing final account
  • Excellent communicator
  • PC Literate with knowledge of MS applications e.g. Word, Excel
  • Excellent commercial and financial acumen with an ability to analyse complex data and documentation with accuracy
  • Sound understanding of risk analysis/management
  • Sound understanding of principle of accounting (P&L, Balance Sheets, Accrued/Differed Income)
