We are a leading Facilities and Maintenance contractor that operates on a global scale, we have a new opportunity for a Head of Engineering Compliance. This position will support the governance and create a strategy around engineering compliance and will provide on-site support where it’s needed to meet company and legal obligations.

This will require a significant level of mobility since our FM sites cover parts of Scotland, Northern England, Midlands, East Anglia, South East and the South West and thus we will provide a car allowance and full expenses when working away.

Key activities

  • To ensure that an effective governance strategy is in place to evidence organisational compliance with engineering related legislative requirements.  
  • To ensure suitable and sufficient operational policies and related processes are in place, and monitor that this is embedded throughout the portfolio. 
  • To generate and maintain a dashboard to report against this strategy implementation 
  • To recommend competency requirements (including training needs) and establish a management process for appointing suitable candidates for designated roles as required. 
  • Carry out internal or external auditing activities as required; to include evaluation of subcontractor documentation and service reports. 
  • Provide technical and engineering support and coaching as necessary to ensure all Responsible Persons and other designated persons are able to carry out their duties; and to assist in the development of RPs, CPs and other designated persons to provide a balanced succession plan. 
  • Design, deliver and recommend suitable levels of training, and facilitate workshops, to enable and ensure persons under BYES UK’s management, supervision and control have the required and acceptable level of competence. 
    Support the business development department through the provision of data/information, site information gathering visits, and mobilisation support.

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • Apprentice trained (or degree qualified) engineer in a relevant building services discipline. 
  • Must have extensive experience of managing building services in a critical environment. 
  • NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent health and safety qualification.  
  • Fully conversant IT user, with competent use of Microsoft O365 and CAFM systems, and experience working with other IT products and/or interfaces.  
  • Experience developing and implementing safety rules or operational policies, together with respective processes and procedures. 
  • Experience managing direct reports, and subcontracted resources. 
  • Professionally registered (or working towards registration), together with recognised membership  
  • Professional interest, and enthusiasm for policy implementation and change management. 
  • Comfortable presenting to a group of internal/external clients.
  • Fluent in remote working, and ability to travel to different geographic locations as required.
