Equans is looking for an Electrician to join our team in Stoke on Trent on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
The Mobile Electrician will be able to lead in engineering activities and undertake duties for which their trained and competent to do. There is a facilities management team which is based across the 88 schools that can offer specialised technical advice and who can liaise with the appropriate levels of management to facilitate specialist isolations necessary to undertake certain engineering works.
What will you deliver?
- To undertake a proactive role carrying out maintenance, repairs and inspection on electrical systems, and mechanical and associated building services. All in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance.
- As part of a skilled engineering team you will carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to various services across site and will involve varied tasks such as working on Lighting Systems, Nurse Call, L.V Electrical Installations, Security Systems, Motors, Pumps and associated building services in accordance with the PPM programme.
- Respond in the required time to ad-hoc breakdown requests as identified by supervisor / manager or as a minimum, to comply with contractual KPI’s.
- Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works.
- Carry out systematic fault finding in a logical and safe manner on malfunctioning equipment.
- Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory and Company guides.
- Complete and maintain records as and when appropriate and as required, whether written or electronic.
- Carry out risk assessments on-site as instructed by supervisor / manager.
- Carry out required Authorised Person (AP) duties as required by site management and personal competence.
- Participate in the Engineer on call rota (Additional Payment associated).

Who are we looking for?
- At least 3 years post apprenticeship experience within a maintenance environment.
- Good electrical knowledge – ability to fault find and repair electrical systems.
- Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level
- GCSE / O Level Mathematics and English or equivalent
- Flexible to work ad-hoc shifts on a 5 out of 7 day basis.
This role includes a DBS Enhanced check therefore ability to pass is essential.
