Equans is looking for a Co-ordinating Authorising Engineer and Technical Manager to join our team. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week, split 50% home based and 50% site based. Covering sites across the Central Belt of Scotland. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance and excellent benefits package (information below).
We are looking for a highly competent Electrical Manager/Engineer. You’ll be joining a dynamic and growing central engineering function, with the ability to work autonomously, and within an established group of Electrical Experts.
What will you deliver?
- Setting the strategic direction in the management of electrical compliance and safety in Scotland
- Building relationships with contract Electrical representatives
- Promoting good electrical safety practices to contract representatives, and acting as a conduit between operations and senior operational leaders, ensuring the effective management, governance, communication and oversight
- Acting as a key member of the Electrical Authorising Engineer group
- Interpreting and distributing electrical safety and compliance requirements, guidance, and information, including changes, to keep our operational teams and leaders up to date with current standards, and how this is to be adhered to by EQUANS
- Act as EQUANS Electrical expert when evaluating designs
Support in the procurement, setting to work, and monitoring of key service providers, ensuring inspections, maintenance and repairs are carried out to the correct standard. - To ensure the EQUANS/(S)HTM Safe Systems of Work for High and Low Voltage (HV/LV) systems are managed and adhered to by our field operational teams
- Carry out technical training and Assessments and Appointments as governed by the HV/LV Safety Rules
- Audit contract in accordance with the (S)HTM or EQUANS Rules requirements
- Support our PFI contracts specifically in relation to Maintenance and Lifecycle planning
- Support the review of data during mobilisation periods, and assisting operations with the prioritisation of remedial works to achieve compliance
- Post holder will provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support across the business including into bids, projects, new opportunities and day to day operational support, including advice and guidance on best practice standards, system and operational asset performance improvements.
- Have significant Electrical maintenance/safety experience and be proficient at drafting detailed technical reports and be able to support and actively lead accident or operational incident investigations.
- Be able to support and deliver in house training, increasing our self-delivery capabilities.

Who are we looking for?
- Educated to degree level in engineering or equivalent through experience
- Preferably a member of a relevant Institution.
- Experience of Facilities Management in a related Services environment (Manufacturing, Industrial, Healthcare, Education, Commercial facilities etc.)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio etc.)
- Leadership and/or Management qualifications, with previous line management experience
- Commercially astute, with a natural understand for the complexities of PFI and Private Sector contracts, and how decisions EQUANS makes will have an impact on financial performance
Specific Trade Qualifications and/or Experience:
Essential
- City and Guilds 236 A&B or 2360 parts 1 and 2 or 2330 or equivalent apprenticeship
- City & Guilds 2394 / 2395 or 2391 Electrical Testing & Inspection
- Authorised Person experience in HV and/or LV Discipline
- Relevant Trade Qualifications or Apprenticeship
- Understanding of Electrical Test and Inspection documentation
Desirable
- Health and Safety Qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH) or equivalent18th Edition Wiring Regs
- First Aid trained
- Auditing Training or previous experience
- Accident and Incident investigation training or experience including report writing
- Permit to Work, Risk Assessment and Method Statement training or experience
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory, legislative requirements and British Standards as
applicable
