Equans is looking for 2 Building Maintenance Supervisor’s to join our team at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager (Building), the post holder will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the maintenance services in accordance with the requirements of the Maintenance services Agreement with Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.

Responsible for the effective management of trade staff ensuring all maintenance activities comply with the statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines.

The post holder will also collaborate and co-operate with the Trust to deliver customer focused, cost effective and efficient maintenance service

What will you deliver?

  • Support the TSM in ensuring Building Tasks are closed out in timely manner, assisting with the other trades (Mechanical & Electrical) when the need arises.
  • Assist the Management and co-ordination of directly employed labour and sub-contractors in reacting to breakdowns and implementing the Planned Preventative Maintenance Systems
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines
  • Assist in the review and development of the quality of service at an operational level and Control expenditure as delegated by the Technical Services Manager (TSM).
  • Ensure all staff are trained and aware of health and safety responsibilities in accordance with statutory, NHS and Trust guidelines and the companies Incident and Behavioral Safety Initiatives
  • Positively manage relationships with stakeholders and Trust representatives to enhance perception of service provision
  • Ensure Planning and scheduling all planned preventative maintenance activities for the building team is completed using the Maximo system.
  • Consideration to statute, Regulations, ACOP’s and Guidance (HTM’s).
  • Give additional support with financial controls with reference to departmental budgetary control, stock, contracts etc.
  • Ensuring that all staff and subcontractors’ response and rectification times are met and repairs are undertaken diligently, with due care and without undue delay.
  • Responsible for the safety of plant, equipment, and infrastructure and for safe working practices.
  • Contribute to ensure that plant and equipment data and information is delivered in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responsible for bringing to the attention of all Senior Management any unsafe working conditions, working practices, unsafe plant or equipment encountered during the execution of duties including reporting on the company AIMS system.

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven experience within a Healthcare environment is desirable.
  • Experience with Fabric maintenance and management of contractors
  • Fire Door Maintenance and requirements experience
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry guidelines
  • BTEC NVQ Level 3 is desirable.
  • Works well with others and can work as part of a team.
  • Adds value and is commercially astute.
  • Able to prioritise, think ahead and achieve timescales and deadlines.
  • Can identify cost effective solutions which are sustainable.
  • Thinks out of the box and contributes new ideas to improve service delivery
