Equans is looking for an Asset and Configuration Analyst to join our team in Newcastle on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
The role offers flexible working with a requirement to attend our Newcastle office 1 day per week.
As a member of the Service Support team, the Asset and Configuration Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day management of IT Hardware and software assets within the EQUANS UK business unit. This role will work collaboratively with members of the Service Support team and the wider IT community in controlling, managing and reporting on IT assets operating within a process framework grounded in ITIL principles.
The scope of the role ensures the integrity of asset inventories, accurate reporting, and establishing procedures for the management of IT hardware and software through the IT asset lifecycle. This role will require the ability to go looking for, identify and resolve discrepancies in asset data or supporting process. Additionally, the Asset and Configuration Analyst will support activities in the overall direction of IT Asset Management and will be an active contributor ensuring the success of this activity.
This role will include monitoring and recording of software licenses and/or hardware assets to ensure compliance with internal controls and provider agreements. The individual will also assist in forming procurement strategies to optimise technology spend across the UK business unit.
What will you deliver?
- Management of day-to-day process and procedures to support ongoing operations of IT Asset Management.
- Administration and maintenance of the CMDB and asset discovery tools, identifying areas of improvement and implementing where possible.
- Identify and record the relationships between services, Infrastructure, hardware assets, software and applications within the CMDB.
- Administration of a “Goods in-Goods Out” Process.
- Work with stakeholders to identify Services and Configuration Items in scope across the organisation.
- Define and agree the dataset for each type of C.I
- Support recovery of hardware assets.
- Contribute to the development of processes / procedures to ensure that appropriate controls are in place to protect CIs from being modified without the correct configuration controls.
- Investigate and resolve exceptions and accuracy issues of the CMDB and asset discovery tools.
- Liaise with stakeholders to obtain information in relation to software agreements, contracts and renewals.

Who are we looking for?
- 2 years of experience managing IT Assets through their lifecycle within an ITIL-based organisation and associated CMDB tools.
- Software Asset Management – Experience and knowledge of licensing terms and conditions, product usage rights and ‘real world’ licensing issues gained from working with vendor products.
- Advanced problem solving / analytical skills (Excel / Power BI).
- Ability to think strategically with strong problem management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse global team and assist with influencing/drive change across functional and business boundaries.
- Planning, and organisation skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience in writing IT procedures, operational reports and user guides.
- In depth understanding of IT Asset management lifecycle processes and tools.
- Experience of request fulfilment within an ITIL-based organisation.
- Knowledge of general procurement procedures and policies.
- Continuous improvement attitude and ability to seek out and implement internal or external best practices.
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
