Equans is looking for an Electrical Supervisor to join our team at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
Based at Royal Blackburn Hospital, the Electrical Supervisor will be responsible for the technical performance and maintenance of standards within the Royal Blackburn Hospital contract. They will provide guidance to others on site, showing technical expertise in electrical systems, to ensure appropriate and compliant solutions and efficient customer service delivery. The Technical Services Supervisor will have advanced technical knowledge in more than one skill or technology area – although with an electrical bias.
The primary complexities of the role are around the management of the workflow from helpdesk/ CAFM system through to completion and sign off. We are looking for a driven individual to add expertise and dimension to the FM team. They will be able to demonstrate flexibility and efficiency in responding to changing business requirements and will establish good working relationships with their team members.
The individual will play a vital role to Equans, working alongside an already established technical team to ensure that the operations are legally and contractually compliant and represent excellence in service delivery.
What will you deliver?
- Supervision of an electrical bias workforce and assist in the supervision of other disciplines as necessary.
- To be accountable for the workflow through the team and to work closely with the helpdesk to enable that to happen as a business-as-usual function.
- Supports the TSM and deputises when off site.
- Support TSM in the planning, processes, and implementation of change to improve service and operational quality and customer satisfaction.
- Report and work closely with the Technical Services Manager in the management of the operational staff.
- Facilitate co-operation between Technical, Helpdesk and Client staff.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, NHS and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge always.
- Carry out return to work interviews and other HR type interventions as necessary.
- To supervise and monitor the work and performance of the Team and sub – contractors, ensuring that performance levels are maintained to deliver excellent service to the Client and to meet required contract Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Interface with suppliers and service providers as required to meet the needs of the service Organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads to ensure deadlines are met.
- Ability to work under pressure, take ownership of problems and deal with them to their conclusion.
- Participate in the on-call system.

Who are we looking for?
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Apprentice trained and qualified/experienced in relevant trade.
- NVQ level 3 or HNC and above.
- City & Guilds 2391- 10 – Inspection & Testing or equivalent.
- City & Guilds 2382-10 – 18th Edition Wiring regulations.
- Apprentice trained and qualified/experienced in relevant trade (Electrical).
- Basic computer literate.
- Supervise staff and monitor performance.
- Experience particularly in the healthcare environment. (Desirable).
- Attention to detail and problem solving.
- A self-starter, leading by example, good attitude and people person.
- Understanding of HR related items and planning.
- Health & Safety qualification (i.e. IOSH Managing Safely).
- Experience of managing contractors.
- Sound awareness of risk assessment and working safely.
- Preferably experienced with HVAC, Pump systems, Lighting and Power, Fire Alarms, IPS, UPS, BMS, Generation, Switchgear.
- Good knowledge of It based system, SAP/Maximo/BMS etc.
- Sound knowledge of the practical implementation of Health & Safety.
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
