EQUANS are recruiting for an Operations Manager to be based within the Urban Energy Team in London. This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.  

As Operations Manager you will form a vital part of the management team. You will provide inspired leadership and maintain good quality standards for the productivity and efficiency of the organisation. You will oversee the management of labour, policy decisions and quality and safety control of your site-based team.

You will deal with the design and control of business operations to ensure continued and uninterrupted production and supply of district heating and cooling to multiple and differing stakeholders along with electricity export via private wire arrangements. Your duties will include overseeing high-level HR duties, conserving quality control and safety measures, analysing and improving operational maintenance processes and procedures, customer relations and financial performance.

 

What will you deliver?

  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of health & safety, operational performance, commercial management, financial results (incl. P&L, debt and Accrued income), and customer relationships 
  • Preparation and management of budgets including forecasting and detailed monthly financial reporting 
  • Ensuring all Health and Safety Executive and Environment Agency legislative and compliance requirements are fully met. An example being The control of legionella bacteria in evaporative cooling
  • Systems.
  • Ensuring that the site Health & Safety, Environmental Management and Crisis Management Plans are prepared, implemented and fully understood by all staff.
  • Implementing and maintaining the Business Management Systems and close out any audit non-conformances within agreed timescales
  • Managing the CMMS system ensuring all assets are recorded and that all statutory, non-statutory and reactive PPM’s are completed on time 
  • Ensuring that Business Policies covering Ethics, Diversity and Inclusion, etc. are understood and complied with at all times. 
  • Leading, directing and motivating a skilled multi-disciplinary team  
  • Set challenging individual and team goals, carry out regular performance reviews, produce and implement training plans and develop a site succession plan
  • Acting as a role model whilst promoting the businesses core competencies and behaviours. 
  • Remaining familiar with all relevant statutory health and safety, environmental, technical, engineering best practices, etc. by attending regular training, mentoring sessions, etc. as required.

Who are we looking for?

  • Degree level / HND in a relevant technical subject (e.g., mechanical or electrical) or equivalent experience
  • Diploma / Certificate in Management
  • Knowledge of CHP, Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Water Treatment, Compressed Air, including ancillary equipment
  • IOSH/ NEBOSH Certificate
  • Safety management/leadership including duty holder responsibilities (L8, F-Gas)
  • Experience of HSE and EA legislation and Guidance Notes
  • Experience of preparing and managing budgets & P&L
  • Ability to build positive relationships at all levels 
  • Experience of managing operational compliance (gas, electrical, pressure systems etc) 
  • Strong presentation, influencing and motivational skills 
  • Excellent attention to details and understanding of risk 
  • Collaborative and an effective team player 
  • Ability to use standard software packages e.g., MS Office, to an intermediate level
