QEH – Mechanical Craftsperson (Water)

EQUANS are looking for a Mechanical Craftsperson (Water) for our QEH contracts in Birmingham. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
To undertake the water system planned preventive maintenance, testing, breakdown maintenance and other maintenance related activities to the Estate.
• Working on a day shift from 0800 – 1600, Mon – Fri.
• The responsibilities will mainly be at the Retained Estate but may also include duties at the Mental Health unit and Acute Hospital.
• To undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services to the NHS Trust(s).
• To carry out all works in compliance with Equans KPI’s.
• Participate in the Out of Hours on Call Rota.

Impact:
This role has an important role within the workflow process; the person will be actively involved in developing detailed knowledge, and the maintenance of the core plant and equipment on the QEH Estate.

Complexity:
• To perform the complete range of Mechanical Technician (Water) tasks as required or directed by management.
• To be knowledgeable of and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations, and all safety rules both Equans and Statutory.
• To understand the operation of water systems and to correctly apply this knowledge and understand during the performance of Estates Services maintenance and testing activities.
• Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to his/her own trade, without supervision.
• Ensure all PPM work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions.
• Maintain records and logbooks, ensuring they are kept up to date and available for inspection.
• To record information as required for the operation of Maximo or similar system.
• To assist in ensuring that immediate corrective action is taken in the event of emergencies, so that the Trusts/client needs are met, to avoid danger to people, property, and service provision.
• To provide as requested by management reports, calculations, and recommendations for the correct and efficient running of all plant and equipment.
• To undertake additional and continual training in job skills and techniques that may be required to meet personal and organisational aims.
• To undertake any other duties as requested by Management, to comply with Equans contact and KPI’s.
• To participate in the Equans appraisal system.
• To take part in the out of hours on call rota
• After appropriate training, work off tower scaffolding, MEWP’s, ladders, and step ladders and within confined spaces.
• To be contacted by radio and/or PDA to receive instructions. This can involve frequent disruption to work patterns.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
• Previous experience of working within a health care environment (desirable)
• NVQ or C&G Level 2 Heating/Vent/Plumbing
• NVQ or C&G Level 3 Heating/Vent/Plumbing (desirable)
• Legionella/TMV/Disinfection awareness and training
• HTM 04 RP/CP training (desirable)
